It’s a random array of things, don’t go if you are not into the hunt. I’ve been a customer for year’s and try to stop in monthly. What I find is often just what I’m looking for at a third of the price from any other retailer or on-line. It’s a liquidator and that means never expecting normal inventory, pricing or service.

I honestly do not know how this place is still open. Stuff is thrown every where and it is stuff that has been there since they opened! They have random clothes from past promotions from places you have never heard of. I have seen stuff with rips and stains on it. Don’t even attempt to buy food here. I was seriously waiting for a rat to be staring back at me. My husband found something that was 2 years expired. I think the health department needs to pay a visit to this place. It smells bad in here too. Eww, just Eww.

Sometimes their prices are amazing: great price on produce; some special deals here and there. The most amazing deal is the 10# chicken breasts you have to special-order there, that comes in Friday: HUGE, tender, skinless, with none of that fatty ick like grocery store chicken. Bargains come and bargains go there. They sell some closeout stuff, some dented cans, and some close-to expiration dates. Know what you’re getting.

You can find some really good deals amongst a lot of junk. I have shopped here random times for years and really have found some great deals on random things I need. I was just in there today and thought it is far past time for me to Unilocal this place. I can honestly see how somebody could rate this place anywhere from 1 to 5. The prices are so inconsistent. It is like somebody went in after hours got drunk and grabbed the price gun. For example last week I bought a great 3 in 1 ice scraper for fifty cents that would be a few bucks elsewhere and some mall kiosk sunglasses for 3 bucks that at the mall are 2 for 20 on average. On the other hand why would I pay 15.99 for an industrial size bottle of expired Hellman’s brand Caesar Dressing? The pricing is out of whack but that also makes the prospecting theme really live up to it’s name I guess. The fact is that the food section used to be much better and not almost all expired stuff. I don’t know what happened with that section of the store but it’s no longer worth even looking through and in the past I would frequently spend about 20 bucks and get a good amount of food. So that part is a bummer. However, I still go in on a less frequent basis due to the food thing but I still usually come out with something. Today I bought a travel wallet for 5 bucks where elsewhere you’d probably be in the 20 dollar range. All things said I always go in there just for fun not expecting to buy something and sometimes I buy nothing… sometimes I may spend a hundred bucks. It all just depends on what I dig up. Pun intended.

Prospecter Liquidation is located in a a section of Everett that I’m certain the City officials look at year after year and kind of wonder what they should do with it all. It’s not hurting anything but its an area that, with the exception of the train station added a few years ago has been left a little behind in the big city future development picture… No urban renewal going on here. Its an old industrial area with a hodge podge of buildings and businesses located between I-5 and Broadway that has a lot of history behind it. Prospectors fits right in too. We’ve been dropping in there from time to time for the last couple of years just to look through the tons of «inventory» that has seen better days at other retail outlets. Furniture, TV’s(no, not exactly new technology, but new… color TV flat screen for 50 bucks!) grocery items that are a bit beyond pull dates, knicks and knacks and yes, an occasional treasure. It’s not a junk store, but is a place where many of the items destined for a landfill ended up here instead. Useful stuff too. New clothing that is so early 2000’s and company coffee mugs from companys you’ve never heard of because they’re in Michigan or someplace far away. Tools… Kitchen untensils, dishes… etc. lots of etc. You can go T-shirt crazy here if you want. An excellent shot glass department. too. No, I’m not kidding. About the food section. It’s a true scratch and dent area. Pick the stuff out carefully. Pull dates are from last year and some items are best left alone alltogether. like the cereal and some bakeing goods. Lots of cheap choices but be selective. An abundance of beer and wine. always a safe thing. Whatever your reason for a visit, its a sure bet that you’ll walk out with something that you had NO idea that you were going to buy when you walked in.

This is like a grab bag of random stuff… it probably depends on the day you go whether or no you find something good. There are quite a few good deals. It is like a local version of Big Lots kind of. Not amazing, but it’s worth checking out if you are in downtown Everett.
