We are board-​certified allergists dedicated to applying our expertise in allergy, asthma, and immunology to provide compassionate care. We evaluate children and adults, and treat a wide range of allergic conditions, including asthma, allergic rhinitis, food allergy, atopic dermatitis (eczema), chronic sinusitis, stinging insect allergy, drug allergy, eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders, hives, angioedema (swelling), and immune deficiencies.

We may perform the following diagnostic tests and procedures:

Skin testing for: airborne (environmental), food, venom (bee, wasp stings) allergens, and penicillin

Pulmonary function testing

Patch testing for skin allergies

Latex testing

Food patch testing for Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Disease

Food challenge

Drug allergy testing and challenge

Local anesthetic allergy testing and challenge

Laboratory evaluation of the immune system

Allergen immnotherapy (shots)

Xolair (for severe asthma)

History

Established in 2010.

Illinois Allergy and Asthma Specialists was started by the partnership of Dr. Vivian Chou and Dr. Amishi Murthy. Our offices are located in the COS Building in Evanston, and in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago.

Dr. Amishi Murthy graduated from Case Western Reserve University with a double major in Biochemistry and French. She attended medical school at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and completed her Pediatric residency at Children’s Memorial Hospital. She was trained in Allergy and Immunology at Children’s Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Vivian Chou graduated from Stanford University with a BAS in Biology and Music. She obtained her medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City. She returned to Chicago for a fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at Rush University Medical Center.
