I have come here for a few oil changes and the people are always really nice. They never try to sell me on more than I need (like large corporations such as Firestone) which is nice because I am not really a car savvy person. Also, they are reasonably priced!

Super nice. new owners only within last year. will not over sell you on not needed repairs unlike the previous owner

I have taken my vehicle here for various things a number of times. I have always felt that the feedback they give me is honest and forthright, even with new ownership. I’ve never felt pressured to get work don’t that isn’t immediately necessary and being a local independently owned shop I felt like what they charged was fair and far lower in comparison to the national chain shops. Would definitely recommend!

I was having a problem with subaru the other day. Try making appointment with the dealer but was told nothing available until next week. After reading several reviews on Unilocal about doc able I called and talk to Pete. He was very nice and told me to bring the car in the afternoon and they will get it done. He told me I needed new brakes and it would take about 2 hours. Within an hour he called to say the car was ready. I was very happy with the service and how fast they were able to get it done. I will definitely bring my car there again.

I visited Doc Able’s July 2015 due to necessity. I own a 2008 Nissan Altima and after nearly 7 years of owning this car, i started to hear a knocking noise as i would drive down the street. The noise was worse when i would hit bumps. Husband determined it was issues with my suspension. In addition to that i would hear a shrill shrieking noise whenever i would start my car and only after 5 – 10 minutes of running the engine, the noise would go away. I found that odd and scary since i have no experience with cars whatsoever and would freak out if my car stalled in the middle of the road so i had my husband look at it.
My husband who used to be a mechanic told me to have it taken in so i needed to find an auto shop in the neighborhood. I did a Unilocal search and this place was the first to come up. I decided to try my luck and visit the shop. I met with Peter and he told me if i wanted to come in and get serviced first, i would have to come in at 8 in the morning. So the following day i came at 8 and as promised, i was one of the first to have my car looked at. They did a diagnosis and determined that i needed my sway bar replaced and a new serpentine belt. The work took roughly 3 hours to complete and i was able to have my car back in time for me to go to work. The prices are reasonable and the mechanics are honest (that to me was most important because some places can really rip you off for the work they do and at this place i did not feel that way). I thought i needed an alignment too but they told me it wasn’t even necessary! Again, honesty is key! Would come back here again for future services.

I brought my car in for a suspected coolant leak. Within two hours of dropping it off, I received a call informing me that the coolant system was fine and that the shop would not charge me for taking a look at the car (I even insisted that they allow me to pay something, but the service manager politely refused).

We had our daughter’s birthday party at Doc Able’s in July. We were very happy with the service they provided. The new owners are a husband and wife team, and they are running a courteous and friendly shop. They are service oriented, accommodating, and creative. They went out of their ways to make sure our child and her friends had a fantastic time. We haven’t needed to take our car there yet, but given our very pleasant experience with the birthday party, this will from now on be our go to auto repair shop. Welcome to the neighborhood!

I will start by saying I have had my share of negative experiences with auto work in the past, with that being said I bought my 2013 Dodge Charger R/​T brand new and it is finally time to have brakes put on. I read through a bunch of reviews of shops in the area and was rather put off by some of the things people were saying. I came across this place and noticed it to be under new ownership and had some positive reviews. Not only were the prices here much lower then dodge quoted me, the owner was completely transparent with his work and allowed to me view my car with out the wheels so I could take a look for myself what was wrong, but when I came to pick the car up only a few hours later there was no hidden charges or new problems. I have defiantly found a shop where I can now take my car for things my warranty does not cover

5 STARS ALL DAY! I recently took my 2009 Lexus in for service (recall, oil change, tire rotation) at Doc Able’s Auto Clinic & Tire Company and had a great experience! I worked with the owner Pete Rosquete and his team and they were professional, knowledgably and courteous. I was in the area visiting my niece at the Northwestern Campus in Evanston so it was convenient for me to drop off my car while we had lunch. Doc Able’s even offer rides to and from the Northwestern campus if needed which is an additional plus for students and families.
I thought it would take all day since this has usually been my experience with other car repair shops… NOPE. They were fast! And I was in an out quickly and I received a call via cell phone within a few hours notifying me that my car was ready to go. The customer service department team went above and beyond to make sure that I was taken care of and happy with the service.
In addition, I received a full diagnostics report of all upcoming maintenance concerns that I would eventually need to address and estimated timeframes that these repairs might be needed. They didn’t push any additional packages or service on me and I truly appreciate that and went away a very happy customer and I got a great deal on top of it!
I had an excellent experience at Doc Able’s Auto Clinic & Tire Company of Evanston and will definitely recommend them to any of my friends or family looking for a good car repair and maintenance shop.

I have a 2008 Nissan Rogue and I went to Doc Able’s to get my brakes looked at and receive an estimate for the work. Being on a budget, I did not want to spend a crazy amount for brakes at my dealer. While scheduling this work, I inquired about vacuuming my car and was told they didn’t have the equipment to do so. This was not a problem for me since this was a value-​add and certainly not that important.
I agreed to have the work done and when I picked up my car, I learned that not only did they vacuum my car, the interior got a really nice carpet makeover. Not sure how they did this, but it looks great inside and more importantly (cause I’m not vain) my brakes work.
I am very happy with the service and them going the extra mile. I would definitely have them do other work as well.

After trying out what feels like a million different repair shops in the Chicagoland area, I think I finally found a place I can trust. I have now taken my Audi A4 to Doc Able’s a few times since they’ve changed ownership… some differences that I’ve noticed:
1) Friendlier service at the counter.
2) The service was done in a timelier manner.
3) The owner called me a week later to see how the car was running!
I even asked Pete, the owner, if they could use particular parts that they don’t typically carry or order for Audis and he had absolutely no problem doing so… and it didn’t slow down the process at all!
I’ll happily continue to take my car to a place where the owner proactively meets and services customers. Pete is a standup guy and the veteran technician is very reliable.
I worked at an auto repair shop for 4+ years, and I have taken my car to over a dozen shops in the area, so believe me, I am aware of all of the crooked repair shop owners. Pete is NOT that guy. Get your service done local and avoid dealerships.

Based on the decent reviews on Unilocal,I decided to give these guys a try. I like to support local businesses, so I thought why not. The first time I went there was a couple of months back. There was a piece of stone stuck between my brake pads that resulted in a squeaking noise. I took it in and asked them do a thorough check of the front brakes and make sure they fix any issues found. I paid about $ 500 for this and thought they would do a good job. New brake pads and rotors on, the breaks were squeaking bad when the weather was warm. Very disappointed with this experience, I thought I would give them a second chance and took the car back in. Now they told me I had a bad caliper on the right wheel. I was very skeptical, still I thought why not give them one more chance. I spent $ 400 to get it replaced. They said they would use «original» Mercedes parts. I look at the calipers they put on and it seems like a cheap imitation. I have gotten my calipers replaced by an authorized Mercedes service station a few years back and it did not look like this. This has really made me lose trust in this business. On top of that, even after spending $ 1000, my brakes still make the noise and it appears to be worse now. This is by far the worst experience I have had. My old brakes never made any noise, after taking my vehicle in to Doc Able’s, its gotten worse. Now I need to take It to my authorized Mercedes service center to get it fixed.
These guys are probably good enough for routine services like flat tire fix, oil change etc. I do not trust them with brakes! Very very disappointed. If they would pay attention to this review, take my car bak in and fix everything for free, I might re consider my review. If not, I think they are just taking advantage of decent people in Evanston.

Update: June 18, 2015
After I posted this Unilocal review, the owner of the store responded and offered to look at the brakes again. Now pins on the front left brakes were replaced (these were replaced first time I took the vehicle in). Now there is no noise from the brakes (just drove locally for a couple of days; will update if I have any further issues).
The quality control can be improved. But at least they have the decency to look at reviews online and respond. Hence I will increase from one star to two stars. However, I still feel work quality control should be improved. Taking a vehicle in three times for a simple brake fix is not typical.

I think the new ownership have brought a new level of service and customer satisfaction Doc Able’s. I am more satisfied with my oil change and other service that at jiffy lube and car-​x. My Subaru impreza feels good.

I brought my car in for an oil change and was told I also needed to replace the cv boots. So, I allowed my car to remain at the shop overnight so they could get the parts to work on the cv boots the next morning.
Next day, I get a call saying the engine won’t start. The service writer then asks me if I had problems with the car starting before I took it to the shop and I told him no. Then, he asks me what I want to do, and I said, «Fix the problem!’ When I get to the shop, the service writer tells me I need a new ignition coil, which would cost around $ 400. At this point, I had suspected the service writer was yanking my chain since I had a tune up done on the car within the past year. He also said the car needed a new power steering rack, engine degrease, oil leak repair and fuel clamp in addition to the cv boots. This all added up to about $ 2,000. I was livid with the service writer and the mechanic, who I thought were trying to milk every dollar out of me. However, I just wanted to get my car back and get out, so I had them just fix the ignition coil.
For car owners in Evanston, go to Bryan’s Garage. They only tell you what you actually need to have fixed, do high quality work at a very fair price and are great people.

I was so impressed with the new owner! I was clearly told and showen what work my car needed to have done. I honestly felt like no one was trying to pull the wool over my eyes!!! Loved the honesty, excellent customer service and not pricey.

Customer service was A+ and my car was good as new. I even went on a road trip to Florida and it ran great!!!

After purchasing a 2001 Nissan Xterra for my son I took it to Doc Able’s for on overall inspection. They identified a few problems and itemized them for me to evaluate. My evaluation was aided by the informative report they provided me. The report listed the car’s problems with a small write up and picture for each. It also provided guidance by suggesting which repairs needed to be done soon and which ones I could put on hold for awhile.
The repairs I had them perform were completed in a timely manner and were less expensive than I had anticipated. My son has been driving the car for approximately 4 weeks since I took it in and has reported no problems.
I had a very positive experience with Doc Able’s and will definitely be going back to get the repairs I was able to put on hold completed.

I had an oil change, it was a reasonable price, nice and cleaning waiting room and they were efficient. What more can you ask for? Good people, NEW ownership so ignore those negative reviews! :)

Excellent service all around
From the great communication, to their fair prices, to their willingness to go that extra mile (they picked-​up and dropped-​off my vehicle), to their honesty, this was the best auto service experience I’ve ever had.
For any service, whether it be a doctor, a plumber, or car repair, we rely on the knowledge and expertise of the individual providing that service. For me, it’s important that I feel I can trust the diagnosis provided, and that I know I’m not getting taken. Doc Able’s is one of those few places where I feel comfortable with what I’m told, and if I have any questions, they take the time to fully explain (in simple terms), the issue and why they’ve come to that conclusion.
Lots of places can get it right once, but every visit to this place keeps getting better and better.

These people are cool. Both my teenage kids take their cars there (Jeep Wrangler & Suzuki Samarai) and even though they are kids — the staff are always fair and nice to them. The work itself has always been good.
