Chiropractic First

Drs. Meggie is absolutely wonderful! After suffering from constant back pain and migraines for years (with prescription medication the only means for relief), I decided to visit Dr. Meggie. Not only did she take time to listen to my concerns, she really takes the time to get to know you as a person and truly cares about you and your wellbeing. I have been going to Chiropractic First for over two years and, after two months of getting adjusted, I was completely off of prescription medication and my migraines were a thing of the past. She also has Dr. Will in the office and he is just as wonderful as Dr. Meggie. Needless to say, I highly recommend Chiropractic First!

Dr. Meggie helped me with shooting pain and numbness in my legs during pregnancy. She is not a traditional back cracky Dr., but uses just the right amount of gentle pressure for a pregnant lady! Thanks Dr. Meggie.

I originally started going to Chiropractic First because I was having problems with my hips, which really got off balance while I was moving. I had been to other chiropractors in the past and it always seemed kind of like an assembly line. Everyone got the same adjustment. Snap, crackle, pop and your done. I never really felt better, and was told to come in 3 times a week indefinitely. I heard that Chiropractic First was more gentle and used a different technique. I love that there are no x-​rays, but instead you receive a postural analysis. I think x-​rays can be a little bit lazy and you can miss things. In a postural assessment, the practitioner is looking at you and your body and seeing where imbalances are rather than paying attention to the x-​ray. I learned postural assessment in massage school, and it is a great tool. The adjustments are very gentle and are based on your individual needs. Since starting to go to Chiropractic First last spring, I have had fewer problems with my back and hips, and I have also noticed other «chronic» pain or tightness that I don’t usually think about lessen a great deal. I have also been able to go off of my migraine medication and have been migraine free for a few months now. The more gentle technique is also great for pregnant women. I work with a lot of pregnant women, so it is great to have a good referral to give them.

Total witchdoctor. First of all when you go in there there’s all these idiotic butterflies hanging from the ceiling and new age music playing and you can just tell that you’re about to get a total load of unscientific nonsensical mumbo jumbo thrown at you. After clicking around on me for a few minutes with what seemed to be some kind of voodoo-​like mechanical pencil thing, the conclusion drawn was that apparently my neck pain has something to do with the various colors of clothing that I choose to wear. I would avoid this place unless you just happen to have more money than sense and are looking to sponsor the national decay of science, reason and rational thought and feel you would like to willfully participate in the decline and fall of western civilization. To their credit I was not charged because I was visibly fully unsatisfied with the ridiculous farce of so-​called holistic treatment. It’s probably great for people who believe in astrology or think Sarah Palin is a reasonable presidential nominee.

I’ve been to one other chiropractor in my life (Peak Performance, check the review) and this is a different experience than what one would expect from a run-​of-​the-​mill chiropractor. I met Dr. Smith at a Mind, Body, Spirit Expo and liked her right away. When she told me her office was just around the corner from mine I booked my first appointment.
Dr. Smith does work that is generally not covered by insurances because it is outside of the purview of «normal» «Western» «medicine». I struggle with this kind of thing all the time because I disagree with the structure of our medical systems completely. I don’t want to wait to get sick to take care of myself, I want to take care of myself to prevent sickness and insurance companies (like a bunch of money burning fools) don’t promote that (yet). So! My point is that Dr. Smith has found a way to deal with this narrow sightedness of the medical payment industry.
She doesn’t bill insurance herself. She gives the information to her patients and they can bill their insurances as they see fit. This might sound scary to some, but the other major perk is that Dr. Smith purposely keeps her fees quite reasonable and low so that even un-​or-​under-​insured folks can utilize her services. And her services are very worthwhile.
I have a weak knee and some lasting damage from poorly healed, years old, injuries. On my first visit she did her assessments of me, we talked about my routines, pains and practices. She then did some work on me for about 10 — 12 minutes that opened up tension in places I have a hard time relaxing, and made me feel very refreshed and calmed.
She doesn’t do typical chiropractic «adjustments» unless her patients really need it or really request it. Dr. Smiths is a whole being approach, she is a wellness practitioner in every sense of the word.

Margaret has been a fantastic find. My visits are a great relaxer in the middle of stressful days, and I always leave feeling calmer and more centered.
My visits start with Margaret asking if I have an specific concerns, and if I do, she will listen and then clearly explain what could be causing it and how we can go about making it better. If no specific issues, she’ll proceed with gentle light touch that frees up the energy in my body, taking care of trouble spots, often before I even notice them.
I’ll fully admit that prior to seeing Margaret I was skeptical of non-​traditional medicine but she has made a discernible difference in my well being and I highly recommend her services.

I’ve had a lot of chiropractic work and Margaret’s technique is one of the most interesting and gentle to experience. No surprise cracking but you leave feeling like something did happen and you will feel like you got your battery replaced. I felt even better as the day wore on.
She is very intuitive and her method is very gentle and focuses on releasing tension patterns within your body and to change your energy so that you can let go of the inbalances within your body that are causing you pain.
Because I do bodywork, I appreciate when I find someone who is good at what they do and treats people well. I like the way she interacted with me and I would definitely recommend anyone to go and check her out.
