Eureka Brake & Automotive

While on an extended RV trip, our 13 year old Ford gave us some serious challenges. The team here diagnosed the problem and repaired it perfectly. While the truck was in the shop we were given a loaner car, allowing us to still be active tourists. I only wish we lived nearby for all our automotive needs.

Wow are these guys good! Second time we have travelled through Eureka and had truck problems. This time power steering box went out. Ken to the rescue. He put it on the rack at 2 and had us out the door by 5. I definitely recommend these guys for all your automotive needs.

I was on Highway 299 heading east from Eureka to Oregon when my radiator cracked. I was stranded in the middle of nowhere; it was hot and smoky from the forest fires, and I was thirsty from the heat so I decided to call AAA to get a tow truck to get me the hell out of there!
AAA said the nearest repair station would be in Eureka and asked me if I would like a regular station or an authorized AAA repair station. I was stuck in the middle of the woods, it was hot out and I didn’t want to fool around so I said recommend me an AAA authorized repair station.
They recommended Eureka Brake & Automotive.
Eureka Brake & Automotive replaced the radiator for $ 524.14., my local mechanic later quoted me $ 350.00 for the same work.
Eureka Brake & Automotive knows I’m on the road and that I’m in a pinch, so they’re going to let me have it. Fine. It was way more than I was expecting to pay, but since I’m on the road, experiencing a horrible disaster along my journey, and it was an AAA authorized repair shop, and I believed that I was dealing with competent people I decided to move forward with the repair.
So, I get back on the road, this time I try to avoid anymore bad luck, so I stayed off Highway 299. Instead I took Highway 199 to Oregon. When I get to Oregon, my truck is jerky and having difficulty in shifting so I pulled over and checked the transmission fluid, it was nearly bone dry! The leak was a substantial drip, I had thought it was just condensation from the air conditioner.
Luckily, I made it to an Autozone and put in 4 quarts. I was down 4 quarts! I’m lucky my transmission didn’t fry.
You see, the morons at Eureka Brake & Automotive had failed to properly connect the transmission cooler lines to the radiator that they replaced, nearly costing me hundreds of dollars in additional repairs! Maybe if they weren’t so concerned about ripping me off, and instead more concerned about completing their work competently, they would’ve made the repair right the first time.
I called AAA to complain about their authorized repair shop, and they explained to me that I need to call Eureka Brake & Automotive to have them fix the problem. But now I’m 200 miles away!
I called Eureka Brake & Automotive, but apparently they’re closed on weekends, probably out spending my hard earned money before I can ask for a refund!
So, on Sunday night I get a couple of gallons of automatic transmission fluid and begin the 200 mile journey back to Eureka.
On Monday morning I stormed into their office pissed and livid, so they decided to take care of me right then and there.
They fixed the problem, explaining that it was a loose fitting that they had overlooked before installing the radiator. It was a simple oversight they said. Had they been competent, they would’ve double checked their work.
Then to add insult to injury, Eureka Brake & Automotive had the audacity to present me with a coupon for a free oil change the next time I’m in town!
Yeah! Eureka Brake & Automotive almost blew up my transmission, nearly causing me hundreds of dollars in additional repairs! Now I’m going to trust them with my engine? So they can blow it up? I don’t think so!
So, I took their f**king coupon and threw on the sidewalk as I walked out the door!
If someone wants a free oil change look around the sidewalk, it might still be there. Good luck with that maybe they’ll blow up your engine and you can sue them.

We have 4 old cars and have been going to this shop for 15 years. They are expensive, but the do the work correctly and on time. They advise us when we can wait before doing work and help us prioritize what «needs to be done» versus «nice to have». Plus they wash and vacuum my car! Perfect for this busy mom! Steve and Lacey have a great crew. We really like them and trust them to keep our cars on the road.

I’ve been going to to Eureka Brake & Automotive for several years now and always find them to be trustworthy and forthright in assessing my vehicle needs and diagnosing problems and providing maintenance services expeditiously and at competitive rates. My ’02 Chevy p-​up is still running like a top in large part due to regular maintenance at this shop. I trust them.

I started taking my 1999 ford f250 here when I was in high school. I won’t go anywhere else! Period. The customer service is top notch and the tech was more than happy to explain and show me the work to be done. I have had a transmission replacement, breaks done on both axels as well as general maintenance.

We took our vehicle here for new breaks and to machine the rotors. Well not only do they charge double what other places in town charge but they dont care that they overcharge! We couldnt believe how much more it was for a basic brake job. No one else in town (we called 4 places) charges even close to this place. We showed our receipt to one place and they laughed out loud. Dont go here :(

We brought our vehicle to Eureka Brake & Auto because the check engine light was on. It was also having idling issues and stalling on us frequently. They ran the codes and said that certain functions needed to be «relearned» (which we found out later is total BS). Without contacting us they did all the «fixes» to the codes and charged us $ 100+ and we went on our way.
Well, the exact same problem persisted the next day, so we asked for the «Ultimate Special», which is a glorified oil change and a basic diagnostic check of any problems the car is having. $ 75 later, they told us our windshield wipers were bad (they weren’t) and that our coolant level wasn’t right (it was), it needed a new air filter, and that we needed to replace the PCV valve. They quoted us $ 180+ to fix the PCV valve and we said no thanks, but to go ahead and change the air filter. They also said they were incapable of replicating the idle/​stall issue and could not diagnose the problem without another $ 160 and keeping the car overnight. We declined that and when we picked up the car, the check engine light was flashing, it was stalling as we left the lot, and they never bothered to change the air filter per our request. We bought the PCV value and air filter at an auto store for $ 40 and installed it ourselves in less than 20 minutes.
The problem still persisted, so we called the vehicle’s dealership and they recommended «AUTO MASTERS», which was the best thing they could have ever suggested. Auto Masters knew from our explanation what the problem was and fixed it in under 3 hours for ~$ 230 without giving us the run around. If I could go back in time we would have brought our vehicle into Auto Masters first and not have paid for crap service at Eureka Brake & Auto. We will never bring our business back to this place.

Overcharged on everything, somehow they can quote you some astronomy with a straight face. Great actors. Totally worth it if you want a 600 $ carwash. Nice people smiling through horrible business ethics.

My battery completely died and there seemed to be no reason for it as it was less than 18 months old. I had been in for an «ultimate» service oil change a little less than a month ago. This included checking everything out; topping off fluids, tire rotation, road testing the vehicle, testing the battery, etc. The battery checked out fine during that visit, so after talking with Ken at Eureka Brake & Auto he advised me to bring my car in again. I brought my car in for a complete re-​inspection to make sure that it wasn’t the alternator or something draining the battery. There was no draw on the system thankfully and I just needed to head over to Napa where the faulty battery was still under warranty. Thank you for honouring your work Eureka Brake and checking over my car again without charge!

Unable to get all the services we needed in Fort Bragg, a friend recommended we try Eureka Brake and automotive service on our journey north to Humbolt. Unfortunately, we were too late getting in on
Thursday, but we’re told by Steve they could take
us at 7:30 am which they did. We received à front end alignment and tire. rotation
Steve gave us excellent service, guidance and advice .Our 1977 airstream Argosy is running smooth as a charm; no more pull to the right
We are planning on going up to Canada/​Montana so having the peace of mind makes it smooth sailing or should I say trekking from here. Will definately recommend and use their services again

Like many of the other reviewers (I should have read them first!), I was charged significantly more here than I am accustomed to elsewhere. They seem to add on charges at every turn, like special oil on the ultimate oil change package (the most expensive and ostensibly through) without asking me beforehand. I don’t know enough about cars to trust that all the repairs they recommended were necessary (this is likely what they’re banking on), but the inflated pricing makes me wonder. I’ll look for another shop in town next time. Shuttle service is quick and convenient.

We have had 4 or 5 oil changes here and the staff is always courteous, and extremely professional. The mechanic keeps detailed notes and is honest about necessary repairs and repairs that can wait. They never pressure, and always do a great job. I highly recommend them over Antich Auto. The pricing here is fair, not cheap, but the work and customer care are worth it.

Went here to get an oil change after being referred for some summer deal (said they’d wash my car, they did vacuum it, but no wash). Oil change took about 3.5 hours, I just hung out there because I was NOT walking around Eureka, especially that area. The waiting room was decent, they served crappy waiting room coffee. After the inspections/​oil change, a guy came out and said my rear brakes were down to basically nothing. It would cost me ~400 dollars to replace the rear pads or ~800 to do a full work up including replacing some pistons/​calipers, I said I’d wait for now. After the necessary grieving period for being quoted that much to fix my car, called another locally trusted place and they quoted me half like another review said.
I appreciate their thoroughness, but I am a poor college kid, I can’t afford them.

Someone gave me an oil change card for Eureka Brake & Automotive. While I was waiting in the fancy waiting lounge, the attendant came me know how dirty many of my fluids were and wanted to help. He gave me an estimate of $ 441.83 for auto transmission fluid, power steering fluid and brake fluid.
I called my regular shop and they quoted me a number that was roughly HALF.
My mechanic inspected, changed and charged me for brake and power steering fluids. He said the transmission fluid was perfect and didn’t need changing. He saved me $ 343.83+TX I will not ever be returning.

We have taken two vehicles to Eureka Brake and Automotive and have been super pleased with both experiences.
Their facility is clean, professional with great customer service. No weird price change-​ups when we went to pick up the vehicles too.
I would highly recommend.

I’d recommend this place to anybody.
This is my second time using Eureka Brake and Automotive. The first time was for brakes. and now for auto repair. So i’ve had experience with both ends!
When I had my brakes done, it was a quick inspection and a price quote. Quoted me lower than 4 other places in eureka I had looked into (plus there is a AAA discount). Dropped my car off the next day and was able to pick it up later that afternoon. Speedy service. They also offered me a shuttle service back to my home (so I didn’t end up waiting there alllll day).
Second time (This past week): My check engine light came on and coded as a cylinder 4 misfire. (Yikes!) So I dropped it off for an inspection around 11:00 am.
Was out later that day — all fixed up and I didn’t feel ripped off! They even shuttled me home and picked me up to come get my car. VERY friendly.
Had my car done and on my way out around 3pm!
I still reccomend this place to alll my friends…

I really can not see how/​why this place has such good reviews!
I went in for a tune up and after seven and a half hours my car came back in worse condition then when I had initially brought it in (i.e. dash and taillights would not turn on and headlights wouldn’t turn off, where i had absolutely no problems with shorts or fuses prior). They also didn’t even finish the job (the piddly car wash and vacuum part). When I took my car back to have them fix their mistake they did do the job for free but the fix lasted about 20 minutes. When I returned yet again to talk to them about all of this Javier was rude and condescending… If you want to waste money and have a headache please feel free to come check out and be duped by this nightmare of an establishment!
Hopefully at least one person who reads this will look elsewhere for car servicing…

AAA suggested this place because they heard it was pretty good and have a gated garage to put your car into during closed hours.
I went in in the morning to check up on the car. The manager/​owner there was very nice and explained the process to me well and made me feel comfortable. It was $$$ but the car’s working
They also offer AAA discounts, but I don’t see how it’s reflected on my receipt…*scratching head*…

Second time to take a vehicle here.
Just got a second car and needed it checked out. They did a terrific job.
I thought the car needed a new timing belt. The mechanics informed me there isn’t a timing belt but a chain drive in my car. Who knew?
Thought the water pump was having a problem leak but it checked out OK.
On my instructions they changed the brake fluid and replaced back brakes.
The shop gave me a free 60 points checkup.
Discovered I possibly have an oil leak. They cleaned the engine, added tracer dye to the oil. I am to take the car back after driving another 500 miles to see what the problem may be.
I did need a new battery and spark plugs.
Received AAA discount which always help a little.
I was given a loaner car for the day which really helped me out. I live too far away from the shop to use their shuttle.
This is a very efficient, clean, professional business which never ceases to amaze me. I’m really glad I found them through AAA.
