Snack Shack

We found this place by getting a gift certificate from the Register Guard. Dad and I (carnivores in the family) liked what we saw on-​line as the burgers there can be up to 1lb yummmmm.
So anyway after getting lost a few times trying to find this place, we found it. Little small and unassuming. Even the times when I thought no one else was there, other filed in so it’s obviously known. The bathroom is kept up well. This is what I would call a ma and pa diner place…
I got stuck at the burgers but I’ve seen the fried chicken and several other options. The burgers are simply fantastic! I love them. A variety of toppings and sizes. I love that you can get a small burger up to a 1 lb monster. Don’t be shy try something new.
Yummy sides. Good salads and they make super fantastic out of this world shakes and malts!!!
If you can get Shilo (sp?) as your server you will NOT be disappointed! She is awesome and OH SO FRIENDLY! Love her.
Listen the one thing you need to have is a shake or malt. Okay? They do it old fashioned style… so basically they do it right! Trust me.
They close somewhat early during the week — so make sure you check the time before you head out here.

This may be the closest thing I’ve seen to complete truth in advertising in a name. The burgers were snack-​sized … although meal priced. And the place is sure a shack.
No adult beverages. Tasteless packaged fries and onion rings. And we completely stunk of fry grease after spending 40 minutes here when there were only three other customers. I can’t imagine what it would be like during lunch rush.
It was kind of annoying to tack on a tip to the already-​overpriced tab since we were technically waited on. But since the very nice waitress was the ONLY good thing about the place, I guess that was tolerable.

Very good burgers! Service was friendly and fast. It is small so be prepared as the places fills up quickly. The décor could use a good sprucing up

Very delightful meal. Great food. Friendly owner. We were very reluctant to go in at first because of its appearance, but decided to give it a try cuz the reviews are so good. and it turned out to be great! The 3-​piece fried chicken basket I got was really tasty. The chicken was crispy, juicy and has a bit of sweetness in its flavor. Totally loved that!

On our road trip to California we were looking for a place to eat, after a long search on Unilocal we found this little local restaurant and it was amazing. The owner of the restaurant is very kid friendly and super nice :). We set down and 10 min after the order (or maybe not even) our order was ready. The food was delicious and not greasy. Cooked perfectly and tasted fresh.
We will definitely be back.

Great food! The price is good and the portions are wonderful. It has an old mom and pop feel to the place with lots of nic nacs and décor on the wall. The waitress was on top of everything and very nice. This is the only place in town that I know of that still has crispy yummy curly fries. I would highly suggest giving this little hole in the wall place a shot. The only downside is that it is rather small and can’t seems to hold more than 40 people or so.

So amazing. Well worth it. Don’t be turned off by the appearance outside. Service and good were 100%.

What a hidden gem. I never expect a small diner like this to be so good! Our waiter, seems to be the owner, is so nice and welcoming. Bless her little ol heart. I ordered the country fried steak dinner and it was so good. Better than any Denny’s or ihop chain restaurant. I like my meals a little bit salty and was hoping the gravy to be saltier but overall my dinner was outstanding. Would recommend and will definitely come again when I’m in Springfield.

Super fast & friendly service. I ordered the junior burger with bacon, cheese, jalapeños & fries — tasted like it was flame grilled. I’m pretty sure it was my personal best in scarfing down such mouth watering goodness!

Small old time burger joint with super friendly staff. The Chili burger and Patty melt both delicious and freshly cooked.

Good food. We had a aunt and a spider visit our table. Service was good at first until we got out food then the waitress never came back till we were dun.

Oregon Tillamook Cheese Burger, with the Cole Slaw. It was awesome. Burger tasted just like I grilled it myself at home. All the fixings and their custom sauce. Incredible. The cole Slaw was one of the best I’ve tasted in a long time. Very fresh and saucy. It was bomb. Happily surprised and very satisfied.

Had the chili cheese fries which were awesome and enough for two even if that was all you ordered. Our waitress whose name starts with a D was super friendly and kept our drinks full. Thanks for a great lunch!

Ohhhhh my goodness. This little place is SO tiny and unassuming. I’ve driven right by it my entire life and never thought to stop by/​known it existed. It’s certainly nowhere I’d usually see myself seeking good food. But… yesterday… I finally ventured out and tried their wares. It was a huge hit!
I usually write a fair bit about my experiences, but not today. (I’m at work)
I tried two items… Four, if we count the sides. All of which were delicious. The real story, for me, was of the service. I can’t recall the woman’s name, but she (older woman with a vicious sense of humor) was an absolute joy to interact with. :)
I’m going back. For sure.

Great service! Delicious hamburgers! Very Family friendly. Great little place. My family and I ate here in our way to Portland. My son had a delicious hot dog and the rest of us had burgers.
Great lemonade, too.

Super yummy milkshakes nice and full! My sons new favorite spot!!! Our server was super nice… plus they have outside dining

Delicious club sandwich — huge — could only ate half. The kids hotdog was large and on a nice kaiser roll instead of a cheap white bun. Large and yummy omellette — big chunks of ham.
Friendly, efficient service. Prices seemed high for the atmosphere — not a fan of the plastic picnic tables (indoors) or the fried food smell throughout. They had framing for outdoor dining in warmer weather, which would be nice.
I’d definitely eat here again when in town.

This is our new no-​frills favorite burger joint. So good.
And I dare you to try the club sandwich. Make that a double-​dog-​dare! It’s the most awesome thing on the menu, IMHO.
Bonus star — they have breakfast all day! Weeeeeeeee!

Sadly 3 stars for food. My ribs were very tough meat and literally swimming in sauce. I love sauce but this was over kill. My fries were the frozen crinkle ones should have gotten curly fries. My husband got bacon avocado cheese burger. Really good except for cold bun. Onion rings good. Over all rating — Good but not great.

So… been passing by this place for a few years and I finally stopped by based on Unilocalers! And the rating does not lie!!! Super good food! We ordered a few different items.
The burgers were all super tasty! Would like some heat on the Ortega chile burger but still had a nice chile flavor. The chili burger was awesome! The fries were good but needed salt. The onion rings were some of the best I have ever had! Beer battered and the onion did not slide out when you bite it! The item that I was shocked at wad the BBQ Pork sandwich!!! It had a nice smoke flavor! Not like a shredded roasted pork with sauce. This was amazing!!!
Very small hole in the wall… you blink — you miss it! But worth seeking out. We want to try breakfast next time!!!
