I have a mid-​2010 iMac that was progressively slowing down to the point where I was having trouble doing anything — surfing the Web, using my graphic design software, basically I’d get the spinning beachball with every click. Colin worked on diagnosing the problem, and he believed it was an older, slower CPU — my machine just couldn’t keep up with the times. His suggestion was to replace my old hard drive with an SSD. I said go ahead, and then I did some homework. Apparently, this is a really good solution to computers that have slowed down with age. I retrieved my upgraded machine today, and, WOW — I am absolutely amazed and thrilled at the change in my sluggish old Mac. Windows are popping up almost instantly, and I haven’t seen the beach ball yet. I worked in Photoshop today, and everything just worked — no sluggishness at all. I trust the people at Mac Tonic completely, whether it’s purchasing a refurbished machine or repairing one, my experience has always been excellent. It’s just refreshing to find a business that lives up to the advertising. I’m a happy customer — thanks Colin!

I am all set to drop off my old workhorse iMac and pay big bucks to have it fixed after leaving it at MacTonic and waiting for a couple of weeks.
Al (I think his name was) jumps into the front display part of the store, sets up my computer, looks at a few of the issues I was concerned about, tells me how to fix ‘em, and is about to address a different problem on a different piece of hardware, when his phone alarm goes off meaning he needs to go pick up his kids from school. He jumps into the back room, pulls out another wonderful tech person, Jean, who finishes off by explaining how I can fix my other problem.

Contrary to popular belief, I am utterly disappointed by Mac tonic.
Due to all the rave reviews here, I decided to take our desktop here for a «no power on» diagnosis. Yes I know this is a simple solution most times, but my lack of time and the fact that my other 2 computers all failed at once left me needing some help. Mistake.
When I dropped off the machine I casually mentioned that we were completely without a computer in the house (yikes) because of multiple failures, hoping the gal there would pick up on that and maybe expedite the process to whatever degree possible. Also, I didnt want to be the customer that thinks that we should drop everything when they come in a fix their most important problem. I know how that goes, noone likes an asshat.
Were my subtle cues picked up? Not a chance.
In fact, a mac-​tonic tech left us a message on Saturday, nearly three weeks after having dropped off the unit, congratulating himself for his heroism in having worked on our machine over the weekend, which they don’t normally do, but the mastermind did manage to discern that we had a bad power cord.
Wow. Three weeks to find a bad power cord. So amazing.
I show up to retrieve the offending machine and am held up for 15 mins, even though I’m the only one there, because THEY CAN’T GET THE PRINTER TO WORK! Well be still my heart. I left without a friggin receipt, never to return.
Word to those who own their businesses — you work weekends, you work nights, you work every waking hour. Thats how small business works. YOUR NOT DOING ANYONE A FAVOR, YOUR DOING YOURE JOB.
You do not call your customer to congratulate yourself for doing what you are paid to do in the first place. Also, if it taking you three weeks to sort out a bad power cord? You need to examine your workflow. Thats ridiculous.
Summary– This place is a critical mass of incompetence. Avoid if at all possible.

Absolutely heroic service! I wish I had asked for the gentleman’s name that fixed my phone so I could thank him personally.

I called and left message two month ago, and NEVER was called back, I tried calling again recently, and also emailed, NOTHING, no response.

I had my drive not communicating with my laptop. Turns out it needed a new drive so he replaced it and my computer works great now. Turns out a lost a lot of photos but he moved over everything else. A week later I go back in there and hand him the modem and a drive ask him if he can try again this time more prepared on my end. He was able to magically get the modem to work just long enough to get all my information off my computer! Could not be more stoked to have all my photos and memories back. The guy name who helped fixed it was Aron and he only charged me 25 $!

Picture this: You’re on a road trip with your 11-​year-​old daughter touring the Pacific Northwest. While you and your daughter are exploring the tide pools at Cape Perpetua, you are SLAMMED by what the locals call a «sneaker» wave. SLAMMED. DRENCHED. For reasons unknown to me, I pulled my daughter (who had been knocked to her knees) from the froth and didn’t give a thought to my iPhone (which I had for all of father/​daughter photo ops). Crazy, I know. Anyway, when we got back to the car my phone was dark and nonresponsive; naturally, I thought the worst.
As we were passing through Eugene on the way to Portland, I found Mac Tonic on Unilocal and stopped in. The tech (I didn’t get his name) took my phone, blew out ¹⁄₈^th of a tsp. of the Pacific Ocean, cleaned the contacts with alcohol and told me to leave the phone on it’s side for 24 hours and then plug it into the wall; so, that’s what I did… and it worked!
All this for the princely sum of: no charge. That’s right… No. Charge. Obviously, I compensated the tech, but still.
That’s my story. Excellent service. Excellent value. Give Mac Tonic your business!

Have you ever not wanted to write a review for fear of getting too many people going to a place you know to be amazing, because it might ruin your amazing experience (too crowded… longer wait time, etc.)? That’s how I feel about reviewing Mac Tonic.
Now I’ve divulged my biggest Unilocal secret — that I won’t review places that I find too awesome to want others to go there: Sometimes I just want to be the only one lavished with wonderful product and service forever and not have to fight throngs of people, you know? But, deep down I know the folks at mac tonic are awesome enough to handle more customers and they certainly deserve them.

Highly recommended.
I had them give me some advice on secure remote connectivity that was so simple that I was sure it could not work. And I told them so. And boy was I wrong. It turns out I wasted a whole lot of time checking out their advice with Apple to find out that they really knew what they were talking about.

The Mac Messiahs! I rearranged my travel plans for moving back to LA in order to have my MacBookPro looked at and then fixed and couldn’t be happier. They are geniuses while being so nice and patient with a tech klutz such as I. Simply stated: the best. Much love to the Mac Tonicites!!!

I was in Eugene to visit family over the Christmas holidays, and my mac would not boot up. After some testing, I thought it was the hard drive cable. I stopped by mac tonic and described the problem. They took my laptop into the back, and 30 minutes later they had confirmed it was the hard drive cable, had installed a new cable, and only charged me for the cost of the cable. I highly recommend Mac Tonic!

Went in needing help with MacBook Pro. They had it a few days trying to find the problem. Never charged me a thing! The problem seemed to go away for now…. Thanks guys!!!

After doing a software upgrade last week, my iMac would not start up. It stays frozen with a black screen with the cursor at the upper left hand corner. I spent at least 3 hours searching online for a solution and could not get it to work. So the next morning, I went into Mac Tonic (the day before Thanksgiving) thinking that it would take a few days to get it fixed up. I explained my problem and right away he said he has a solution for it. It only took him 5 minutes and he fixed it! No charge! They are the best! Highest recommendation!

I went in to Mac Tonic and was greeted and helped right away. Very good customer service! I came in because I had a virus on my Mac Book. I was able to get help from Jonathan, where he was very knowledge about the problem I was dealing with. He was able to clean the virus from my computer and save me tons of time and money. Jonathan also showed me many things that I didn’t even know my Mac could do. I highly recommend everyone going here if they ever have a problem with theirs!

Ok, so in the end they came through and made it right, so I’d have to say I would use them again, if need be.

Last week I accidentally spilled water on my MacBook Pro keyboard, and in my panic took it to Mac Tonic. Before visiting them, I had taken it to the Technical Help Center on the University of Oregon campus, where I was told the only way I could have a consultation was to pay $ 100! I declined and raced over to Mac Tonic.
I was incredibly impressed with the level of service and knowledge of the Mac Tonic employees! They offered to (for free) open up my computer to see if it was fixable and how they could help me. After opening it up, they were completely honest with me in their answer that it would cost far more than the computer was worth to fix it, and I never once felt pressured to purchase products from them or hire them to fix it!
As well, they offered to purchase the parts that were in good condition, and just yesterday I was able to sell them my defunct computer for parts, and received far more compensation than I would have from anywhere else!
I would highly recommend Mac Tonic and their associates– they are knowledgeable, honest, and friendly which is very refreshing in a tech store! Hopefully I have no more broken Apple products, but if so I will definitely be back!

Outstanding! I went in for help in unlocking an iPhone. Steve did it for me with a smile and without the condescending Genius Bar attitude. While I was waiting for downloads he helped three other customers. They all were very satisfied with his work and the cost. My go to place for anything Apple in Eugene.

I own an iphone 3gs and its becoming difficult to find good batteries for this older model. The staff at Mac Tonic have gone above and beyond to find a solid battery for my phone. I’m impressed with the quality customer service. I would recommend their services to any friend or family member.

Very friendly crew, the only local option you should consider. They try to keep their prices low and they actually fix your stuff there! They are fast and they can come to you as well. New, used, refurbished, etc. This is the kind of local business we need to keep supporting so we don’t have to end up at a mall for everything (who wants to bring a computer to a mall???). Hooray for Mac Tonic! I love you Steve and Aaron!
