Graham Landscape and Design

We hired Jordan at Graham Landscape to renovate the decking around our pool at our apartment complex in Albany. It was a pretty big job. We did go out to bid and Graham was competitive. It was a little scary because the existing decking was cracked and super old. We were afraid of what issues might arise after the old decking was removed. Nothing happened. The pool looks soooo much better it’s hard to believe it’s the same pool. He also put up a new fence for us at a great rate. He was always quick to respond to concerns and willing to adjust the job to accommodate a budget. I would recommend Jordan to any one with a paver project.

Quick scheduling and service. They were able to come out the same day. Jordan, the owner took real good care of us.

I, too, had hired Graham because of the recommendation from the former owner. First year, it was okay. He came out walked around then charged a bit more than the former. Next year, it was more for the same 5 minute walkaround and do the EWEB check. Last year walk around, EWEB, and a bunch more…$ 65.00! for turning on water. This year, Paid their $ 65.00, got billed a second time. I had not changed their address for my bank. They dunned me. Then I got a call from EWEB. I called them again to settle this…“OK, we’ll be right out.” 3 days later he shows up, I just hope he sent in the form. Then 2 days later I get a $ 35.00 bill. $ 100.00 for 10 min on site? No. This is the last time I ever give them money. Try anyone else.

I’ve hired Graham a couple of times now for lawn sprinkler related jobs, and I could not be more pleased. We’ve worked with a few independent lawn contractors and a couple of incorporated ones, and have generally been disappointed with irregular dependability, low quality and consideration for the customer. Both times we’ve hired Graham they have been very dependable and the quality of their work is great! They have also been very considerate of us and paid attention to details, like getting the sprinkler heads just right, sweeping dirt off the walk way, double-​checking their work, spending time to get a good idea of what is needed, etc.
I cannot remember the representative who came the first time, and Joe came out the second time. Joe was very courteous, pleasantly conversational as I did a little work along side him taking advantage that the area would be dug up allowing me to transplant some raspberry stalks. One thing I really appreciated was Joe being understanding and flexible as I realized we needed one sprinkler head moved, which was not part of what we’d agreed on. Joe didn’t bat an eye.
Another aspect that I appreciate about Graham is that their charges seem very reasonable compared to others, especially when I consider the quality and dependability.
We’re considering hiring Graham to do our lawn maintenance regularly given their great work and reasonable prices. I highly recommend them.

I have used Jordan and his gang on more than one occasion. Jordan is always prompt and professional when meeting for consultations, and has great ideas for landscaping/​hardscaping. His guys are always super polite, courteous, and efficient.
I recently gave Jordan a challenge by throwing out a general vision I had of creating a Southwest garden scape, which is a challenge when you live in the Northwest! He managed to put together a proposal of some somewhat unique plantings, with some boulders and small rocks and a path. It turned out fantastic and I have received so many compliments on it.
Jordan is competive and reasonable with his proposals, and I don’t even get any other quotes anymore when it comes to yard care or landscaping. I totally trust Jordan, and wouldn’t hire anyone else for my yard challenges!

Great customer service! I was checking my sprinkler system for the summer and realized my back sprinkler valve was not working as the water would not shut off. I called Graham Landscaping and Dean came right over (after work hours) and not only fixed the valve, but also replaced a sprinkler head! He did not charge me for this service and I was incredibly grateful. He was very professional and informative. Graham Landscaping now has my business!

I am seldom pleasantly surprised by contractors but am very pleased to report on an exceptional experience with Graham Landscaping and Design today. I took the day off to get some yard work done and had lined up a couple of contractors to give be some bids and advice on a variety of yard projects including thoughts on improving my drip system. Unfortunately the other contractors informed they didn’t do much with drip systems. So I turned to Unilocal and found Graham. I ignored the 1-​star review and gave the office a call who gave me Dean’s (irrigation guy) cell number. Dean picked up (unusual for many contractors) indicated he could be over to check things out in an hour or so (another WOW for sure) when he learned that I was only off work today.
I expected that Dean would show up, walk around and talk about what trouble I was having and then thought he would leave and send me a bid for the work. Instead, this is where the WOW factors starts, he just went about fixing the minor things as we talked about them. He talked about the problems he saw and identified solutions to the problems he noted. Dean offered (very low pressure) to do the back pressure test that is required and added me to the annual maintenance by he time he was through.
Again, I have seldom been very impressed with contractors, especially if you’re not dealing with the owner. But, Dean and through his employment Graham really impressed me today. That said, I haven’t seen the bill yet, but expect it too will be in line with or better than expected.

We’ve used Graham Landscape and Design for several projects and couldn’t be happier. Jordan and his team at Graham Landscape and Design created a beautiful flagstone pathway for our family that goes all the way around our already existing raised bed planters and has made gardening so much easier. Since it connects right off of our deck for the first time in his life my little dog didn’t mind going outside this winter since he could walk on the path. They planted step-​able mint there too which is coming in nicely and smells great when stepped on. The path looks so gorgeous and more importantly it looks like it was part of the plan and not an after thought. They have also helped me replace all of my old sprinkler heads with more water wise ones and found a way to use drip irrigation with my old system. Jordan has also helped me to add replace some shrubs that passed on with some bushes that are native to this area which use less water and need less maintenance. All in all I really couldn’t be happier. Now I’m thinking about a water feature :-)

Great work! Graham Landscaping did a small job of removing some concrete from my yard so that my husband and I could put down rocks instead. They did such a beautiful job of cleaning everything up. Not a plant was out of place or injured in any way. And the cost was below what I budgeted. I like to try contractors out on small jobs before I hire them for big ones. I think I found the company to add the back deck. I would highly recommend them.

These folks are the WORST. We had a great guy who retired, and sold his business to Graham. (The fact that he had to buy another maintenance business should have tipped us off that there was a problem.)
We’ve had him do about three lawn jobs for us. He’s messed up every one. Drove a tractor over our lawn, creating huge (and ongoing) issues with underground lines and the overall slope of the lawn. Totally failed to repair some dead spots in the lawn; we eventually gave up and sprinkled some seed down and it worked just fine.
That said, he’s been very nice about trying to sort things out after the screwups. His billing is good. Nice guy, bad landscaper. :(

Well, maybe not such a nice guy. After I posted this review, Mr. Graham sued me for $ 9500, claiming defamation. (The Oregon small claims limit is $ 10K.) I requested a jury trial, and Mr. Graham — at least so far — has not refiled his complaint.
Bad landscaper. You’ll need to draw your own conclusions about whether or not he’s a nice guy.

So Graham responds below, saying that the guy who drove a tractor over our lawn wasn’t him, but rather a separate contractor.
That’s correct. It was a separate contractor THAT GRAHAM HIRED. This notion of lack of responsibility for a subcontractor is representative of the reasons that we aren’t working with him any more.
