Defensive Firearms Instruction Specializes in a wide variety of training for Security personnel as well as Firearms training for the general public. We offer both Live Fire and Lecture based Concealed Handgun Course for Oregon, Utah, Florida and Arizona. (Private courses can be organized with advanced notice) We are most know for our Tactical Weapons Manipulation Courses. Our Tactical Handgun Course is an excellent next step after getting you concealed Handgun license. We also offer Tactical Shotgun Courses as well as Tactical Carbine Courses. We have rental gear available upon request so if you need equipment to run the course we can get you taken care of! Our Security Training includes the DPSST Unarmed and Armed Security Courses which security professionals are required to take before becoming a security officer. To supplement the security licenses we also offer the Defense Technology OC/​Pepper Spray course as well as the ASP Expandable Baton and Handcuffing Program which are good courses to take if you are going to be using this equipment on the job! After you complete the security training we can assist you with job placement as well and are currently placing over 60% of our students with employment within 90 days. Regardless of whether you are a beginner or a seasoned professional you will walk away with an increased level of confidence and understanding of the topics covered. Established in 2011.

Defensive Firearms Instruction is a Veteran owned company that was founded in 2011. Our staff is committed to excellence in training. All of our instructors are prior military or law enforcement. We believe that having first hand personal experience with the topics we are teaching our students is critical. We always go out of our way to ensure that our students know that even after taking a course that the student/​Instructor relationship does not end. We have always made ourselves available to our students even if they have the smallest of questions. Our company is continuing to grow and offer more classes and the public demand increases.

Meet the Business Owner

Donovan B.

Business Owner

Donovan has been a Firearms Instructor since 2004 and started teaching firearms related courses during the 4 years he served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was deployed to numerous countries in the Middle East including Fullujah, Iraq and Beirut, Lebanon. During his time in the military he specialized in training individuals in the use of rifles, pistols, shotguns and machine guns with an emphasis in the E.M.P. Program (Enhanced Marksmanship Program) and the M.O.U.T. program (Military Operations in the Urban Terrain). Immediately following Donovan spent over two years as a Federal Security Contractor. He specialized in providing security for Federal Administrative Law Judges and supervising security details on various Federal installations Statewide. He founded Defensive Firearms Instruction in October of 2011 with the goal of being the industry standard when it comes to firearms safety and proper use.
