At Carpenter & MacNeille, we design and build new homes and landmarks across the Northeast. We are inspired by the Master-Builder tradition as well as the rich natural resources and wide variety of architectural styles along our native New England coast. History
Established in 1996.
The idea was conceived in January of 1996 over dinner at a seafood restaurant in Essex, Massachusetts. Terry Carpenter, a builder, and Rob MacNeille, an architect, had both long dreamed of creating a multidisciplinary firm that could offer clients the full range of design and construction services as did the master builders of the previous century. The conversation was spirited, their visions were nearly identical, and by dessert they had decided to form just such a company, Carpenter & MacNeille Architects and Builders.
There was little contemporary precedent for this business model, but Rob and Terry agreed it was important that the culture of the company passionately support the unity of design and construction and, above all, the primacy of serving the client. This core vision has remained at the heart of the business as it has grown and flourished since its founding.
