The BoB – The Brew on Broadway

Local, friendly, no frills and superb beer. Bartenders are welcoming and friendly. Chill, mellow, I like it.

Coffee house, brew house and live music all under one roof.
This is an interesting concept to the new broadsterdam strip, they have a full service coffee shop up front, open early, with full coffee service with breakfast burritos, pastries and the like.
It’s not just some drip coffee, they do seasonal drinks and a pretty good cappuccino if you’re so inclined.
The rest of the space is dedicated to the brew house with a small stage for music.
They feature a lot of local singer songwriter types with some bluegrass and the like thrown in for good measure, Tuesday’s are open mic night.
The beer, they have a solid standard lineup, ESB, mild and a pale for the less adventurous, and then heavier fare like the twin IPA, barley wine and imperial stout sour.
They also started to feature a local home Brewer on tap every so often, awesome idea and lends to the neighborhood vibe.
The standouts are the coffee milk stout and twin IPA, not my favorite brewery in the area based on beer alone, but the additional options and atmosphere make up for that with a low-​mid 4 stars.
They have standard snacks, chips, pretzels kettle head popcorn and sometimes have food trucks outside. This is SoBro though, a few steps either direction and their are plenty of takeout options to munch on.

We just had our son’s 1^st birthday party at Brew on Broadway, «The BOB» and it was FANTASTIC! It was a spur of the moment decision, since our guest list increased to a number we couldn’t accommodate at our home. We spoke with the owner and he was all for it! He let us use the back room and have free reign over the rest of the space. We used the back room to put the food, color books for the kids and hot chocolate bar. The stage area we used for the cake, the highchair and the gifts. The place still had lights up and looked very festive. Wade was our bartender and he was terrific! He kept the hot chocolate flowing! Our guests were very pleased with the fact that we had a 1^st bday party at a brewery and were enjoying the beer! I don’t drink beer, so I can’t attest to the taste, but I heard no complaints from anyone. (I do know that the hot chocolate and coffee are delicious) I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect place for this celebration. Thanks BOB!
My husband and I live in the area and have visited Brew on Broadway a few times, either to watch football, drink beer and play games or to meet up with friends and babes for coffee. We love this place. So happy it’s in our neighborhood.

This is a cute place and the bartender was very nice but we didn’t like any of the beers and we tried most of them in a sampler.

Live music 7 days a week. Great rotating taps. All of the beers brewed in that small little space. bar staff is very friendly and inviting. a comfortable place especially in warm weather when all the big bay doors are open

I can appreciate any business that gives me free pretzels upon arrival, but pair that with well made beer, and I give them an «A-​Ok.» I popped into BoB on an evening when I had sometime to kill before a special event. The space is nice, creating a airy, understated place for people to hang out. We got tasters of a few beers; the ESB being my favorite. It’s not too bitter for an ESB, which is something I appreciate, and it had a solid «nuttiness» to it. I really enjoy stouts, but will say theirs wasn’t my favorite. But overall, they are brewing good beer in a fun location!

Good variety of beer. Have enjoyed all that I have tried. Really liked the double ipa. The bartender is very inviting and engaging. Brewer was a cool guy that is excited about what he is doing. Nice space as well with a great patio and live music.

The Brew on Broadway is amazing. We come there for coffee in the morning pretty regularly the staff is always incredible. Even going above and beyond the call of duty for us a time or two. The beer is always delicious and the live music and food truck near by make for a fun evening. We are so happy to work/​live so close to such a great relaxing place!

We were warned when we got there at 8:15pm that they close at 9:00. Really, a brewery on a busy part of Broadway closes at 9? The beer was good and service was good. Someone had the gall to smoke a cigarette on the patio two tables away from us which annoyed me, especially because it’s ILLEGAL. Hello!

I’m not a beer drinker, but they sent me a flyer in the mail for a free pint so I brought my boyfriend. If I’m going to drink beer it’s got to taste light like Asahi. Couldn’t find a beer I liked, but my boyfriend was a fan of their ambers. The highlight for me was the owners dog. I love dogs so it was a treat to have one hang around me. I really like the loft-​like ambiance here and the staff is very nice. They also have a coffee bar if that’s what you’re in the mood for. I wouldn’t come back because I’m not huge into beer or coffee, but if I were, I’d dig this place.

On a Friday afternoon we came here to cancel out our workout we had just done. There was live music, a guy playing a guitar and singing which was kind of cool. We had to walk up to the bar to order, as you can’t just sit down and be waited on. I noticed nearby patrons seating themselves and becoming confused that no one comes up to them. For $ 6+ for a beer, servers should approach you, you shouldn’t have to track them down. The patio was nice. There was a guy selling food nearby, I think hot dogs. Pretty good ambiance overall and it was nice to be able to find parking at a brewery for once. The beer was really good, I had a blonde. We’ll likely return.

Have been here twice. My most recent visit was yesterday. The beers I had were to style and drinkable. I think they are going for mostly English style. I prefer drier beers, or else they would probably get 4 stars.
The have pretzels and bratwurst covered in pretzel bread, as it was explained to me. They do have local menus from around the location you can order from. Strangely they did not have a visiting food truck or vendor, which they could given the large public parking lots out back.
The space is clean and feels comfortable, I think because there’s a good amount of wood as opposed to concrete, metal, and glass that makes for more than a few overly noisy breweries in these parts.

Paul and the whole staff are super friendly. In the growing market of pretentious beer snobs and elitist breweries «The BOB» is a family owned and operated joint. I have been here a dozen times, always a welcoming atmosphere and often they have great live music. Ample off the street parking in the back. They also have a great patio that is dog friendly. So now it’s time to talk about the beer. I love Pale Ales so I stick with the Eagle Rock which is solid. Paul the owner pours everything he has into this place and it shows in the product and the customer service.

BoB is the bees’ knees! One more excellent thing to add is their Coffee Shop opens at 8 am! Super awesome and friendly staff and the beer is only getting better! Love that IIPA!

We stopped in here late one night, unknowingly about 20 minutes before closing. My husband and I both ordered double IPAs, and the four of us downed them fairly quickly so as not to keep the bartender after closing. Seemed like a nice place during our short visit — But we’ll have to stop back in a bit earlier and sample some of their other options to truly gage the beer selection and atmosphere.

I like this little spot came for a fashion show. They have several different beers to choose from. I think they brew their own. Very nice staff

Decent beer, chill patio, dog friendly space — I will be back!
I had the double IPA, hubby had the pale ale, and friend had the blonde. We all enjoyed them, plus we got a free round! Everyone got one free drink, thanks to a birthday of one of the investors? Owners? Anyway, that was pretty awesome.
The patio is dog friendly, though it is a little nerve-​wracking being right on Broadway with your pooch. My guy was a little spazzed out, wanted to hang out with another dog and snapped his leash before I could even react. Fortunately, everyone was fine, I apologized to the other owner, and we all were sitting chill and drinking beers in a moment.
The patio is pretty big, too, so it had room for three different groups that had a dog guest, so that’s good.
Wish it had food, but I suppose that’s the trade-​off that you get!

Exceptional in the neighborhood for being the only real local brewpub /​taproom /​chill neighborhood spot that doesn’t involve walking in to a sad room of people who look like they’re there purely to avoid drinking alone.
I’ve been 4 or 5 times in the past year, and I’m enjoying this space more in the summer because it feels like I want a neighborhood hangout to feel — chill, comfortable, and without a totally blaring sound system. One Friday night they had a food truck outside with some inventive sandwiches and sausage-​in-​bun or on quinoa creations plus live music and a couple dozen people with their kids & dogs — that was good. Another time a local meetup group was doing karaōke — that was… interesting.
The few times before that, at least one of my party was there for coffee, which was disappointing each time — we haven’t tried again in the past 6 months, but at the time, they hadn’t really gotten the basic mechanics of pulling a shot so that it tasted good/​right, so the brewed coffee was ok but the espresso drinks were all unappealing.
Beer — I like the substantive tasters, good size for us lightweights who want to try a bunch of things. Their stout and a few of their summer/​pale offerings have been very good, but the beer lineup suffers from a weird similarity, in part because they’re going for all English ales, but also from using the same yeast or even a really similar grain mix across most of the brews. Having a distinctive brewery taste can be great sometimes (I can usually tell a Rogue ale off their unique yeast flavor, for instance), but here it hurts more than it helps. Hopefully they’ll continue fine tuning their brew recipes; the stuff I’m tasting this summer is a notch above what I tried last fall.
Will return, want them to succeed.

I have some friends that live in Englewood and they are very close to this brewery! I see several Facebook pictures on their account about how good this beer is so I was excited when they wanted to take me here!
I was kind of in the mood for an IPA so that is what I got. The IPA was not to the point where it was not too overwhelming but had an amazing flavor to it! I really enjoyed it!
My friends got the stout to drink and that was equally as good! It had a great chocolaty taste to it and the body on it was amazing! This is a great little brewery and I look forward to going back!

To say I was excited about the opening of The Brew on Broadway was an understatement. Englewood needs some more good new life brought in. So pleased, that after all the delays in opening the owners were able to open the doors on July 6^th.
They’ve had a lot of buzz in local write ups (Westword, The Beer Drifter​.Com, etc), but sadly none have been written by a beer snob.
Let’s start with the amazing floors, bar tops (recycled), table tops (recycled), great sized patio area, and well decorated, designed space. It lends to viewing the brew area, which is a must in a brew house these days. They have a nice sized coffee bar with sweets for sale over towards the Broadway side of the venue, but sadly, coffee is not what will ever bring me here.
The beer is what I was waiting for, and sadly, am still waiting for. They opened on the 6^th, and we happily wandered in. They were many family and friends of the owners (it seems there must be many). We were told what was on the menu were only 4 of the 6 brews advertised on the sign as two were not yet ready.
What was missing was any kind of description on the sheet (other than name) or by the bartender/​server of what these beers were. I overheard one of the wives trying to figure out what ESB stood for and instead of asking or saying I’ll find out (for her new customer next to us) she walked away. We leaned over and told them after she left. If you are opening a brew pub, even if you aren’t the brewer, you should know some basics. And if you or your staff don’t, even more reason to put the brief description of your beer under its name. Mild can mean many different things to many different people. When you add the hops can change the taste. Maybe you could tell me what it will taste like before it hits my tongue? Just a thought. Other brew pubs do it all over the world and manage to succeed.
What we decided (my beer snob and me), was that these 4 beers they’ve brewed are so closely related in taste, if you’ve tasted one, you need not taste any other. They were boring. And too peaty for my liking. Still hoping the Stout might be OK, but not holding my breath.
For someone who has been brewing in his basement for 25 years, I expected more. I expected to taste really good beer. Not beer that any Joe can do in his basement. I want to recommend you head up to Wit’s End for example and try out some of their stuff. He’s in a warehouse, it’s not a great seating area, but his beer is worth the drive from Englewood. His beers (only a few years experience) are WOWS! right out of the gate, not a mild, IPA, ESB etc that all taste the same. He makes you want to try all of them.
Disappointed.
