Business Owner

Steve Peterson is the second generation President and CEO of Coit Services of Colorado having acquired the business in 1978 from his father Norman Peterson. Steve was raised in Colorado, a graduate of Colorado State University where he married Janie his wife. They have one daughter, Meggan, and two grandchildren Belle and Benjiman

Coit Colorado started with 3 trucks in 1978 and a 10,000 square foot building primarily specializing in drapery cleaning and repair. Currently the business has expanded to service the entire Front Range of Colorado and now includes air duct, carpet, upholstery, area rug, tile/​grout, and natural stone cleaning. Currently Coit Colorado is the largest Coit in the national franchise organization and employees over 100 people with headquarters in Englewood, Colorado. A solid vision of «Exceptional Customer Care and Service» has been the winning combination for the company and will continue on in the future.

My school district scheduled a full cleaning of our theatre curtains. Unfortunately, they did not check to make sure we weren’t performing a show when the cleaning was scheduled. COIT arrived to take down the curtains and got a front-​row seat to my mini panic attack. The team was calm and patient with me. They arranged for the curtains to be returned early so that we’d have it for our show. The curtains were delivered at the new time, as arranged. I feel indebted to this company and deeply appreciate the extra effort they went to in order to insure that we had curtains for our show!

I called COIT to get a general BALL PARK estimate. I said my total home is 1400 sq ft. And I was going to do 3 of the rooms and stairs. They stated $ 150 to $ 190. The person shows up day of cleaning $ 338.00 ((with the 35% off coupon)). And only offered, I knew they would be wrong. Do you want to do it or not?
The person also informed me that this is a presidential year so they are unable to do much or if any advertising on TV because advertising is costly this year. So their sales are down. I assume my up charge for services. Is due to their slow time? Perhaps the cleaner gets a perk for a higher cost?
The carpets still show areas of dirt, and streaks of dirt. The area under the coach does not appear to be cleaned. And I put all my furniture on movers before the cleaner came. So they would be able to push the furniture around as needed.
I called back about my issues. They stated they would send someone out to measure and clean. They send the SAME PERSON, that I was upset about. I stayed at home all day for them to arrive.
I called again, they stated they would call me back. They did not.
They called back the next week to yet schedule someone to come out again.
At this point, they state they offer a guarantee on the web site and paper work. I am disappointed in the customer services, COST of services. I feel they are EXTREMELY pricey and it was a bate and switch to get a cleaner to come to the site.
I am still waiting to have the matter resolved, it started on May 21st.

I want that whole day of my life back! I recently had my carpets and air ducts cleaned (for a small fortune). My carpets are clean but anyone can do that, and for far less money. The HVAC system is a different story…
HVAC literally means «heating, ventilation and air conditioning» however, to COIT it just means air ducts. The service technician was a condescending jerk explaining the way my HVAC system operates and why it would cost an additional $ 600 to clean the whole system — even though I was waving my contract that said «HVAC System Cleaning» across the top of it. Customer service was non-​existent during the process of trying to renegotiate what I had already scheduled. Sigh.

When I first started with COIT they were very friendly and helpful. They came out and gave me an estimate for my floors and all was great!
The day I was supposed to have my floors cleaned I had a death in the family and COIT went down from there.
I have both wood floors and carpet. Originally I wanted them only to clean the carpet but they said I don’t have enough carpet to do without including a service charge. Ok I get it so I asked them to include the wood. Then I find out they can’t split it up and have the carpet cleaned one day and then the wood another day. Wait, what?! I would get charged a service fee for both if they came at 2 different times, even though it’s the same house and same account? Ok confusing.
I needed to get them done so I went ahead and schedule as a first stop (which means first thing in the morning). Well the cleaner called me morning of and said he would be here between 1 and 3pm! I called him back and said I was told 3 times I would be a first stop. He said they scheduled him 3 first stops and he couldn’t do anything about that. So I called the manager. He said the same thing. No one could get here. I then asked if it was possible to split it up and have the carpets done first and then have the wood done later. He said no because I don’t have enough I would get charged the service fee! He wasn’t going to waive the fee for me even thought they haven’t followed through with anything the promised me at this point! I was furious! He said they could take off a bit of the total cost to help with the inconvenience. At this point I didn’t really have any choice. All the furniture is out and I’m trying to move a person in and need things clean.
It was the worst experience I have ever had with a cleaning company.

I am impressed with COIT and their services! I had a friend manage to leave a transmission fluid stain on my sofa from his clothing and I immediately searched ‘upholstery cleaning’ on Google and the 1st result was COIT. I entered my information into their website and within 2 hours I received a very friendly phone call verifying my request, then the following day (1 day prior to estimate/​service request) I received another friendly phone call from another woman just verifying my appointment. The technician called about 35 mins. prior to arrival and was friendly too! Upon arrival the technician was extremely thorough with his information and explained the fee and provided information to an additional request I had which I also added to my service because of the deal they were offering. The sofa’s are still drying but I feel like the stain is most definitely gone and I am impressed with their services. If I ever need this type of service done again I will definitely be calling COIT (:

Do not recommend… we waited a week just to have COIT come to our house to give us a «free estimate», and when the day of our appointment came, they never called as promised to give us the 2-​hour window for when they would come that day. When I called to ask why, they said they had notes in my account that I had called and cancelled the appointment, which was not true. This is not a reliable or truthful company!

It’s been awhile since we had our grout stained and it is holding up well.
I would not however recommend Coit because of the service. They failed to tell us that nothing would be moved. I would have been happy to scoot the refrigerator over a bit myself to insure the grout would be covered well around it. There is plenty of room to move it one way or the other.
I also had to do a lot of cleaning off of the color from my tiles. The job was not done with great care. There is still one place that was missed. It isn’t super Obvious but could look much nicer.
They also will not guarantee, at least back when I had my floors done, their work If you don’t have them clean the floors yearly. I found that totally unnecessary. I do use a power floor cleaner. My floors don’t get that dirty. We don’t live on a farm.

Have always been pleased with the service but this time was a little different. Yes, the carpet was cleaned but the professionalism of the workers was less than satisfactory and one was absolutely not going to move any furniture that was heavy because «we at COIT do not wear those black back belts so we can not lift anything heavy». Something new! I had moved all the heavy furniture myself so what was left I thought was manageable for the hired employees. When I checked a chair in the bedroom, I saw no foam squares under it so wondered if they had cleaned underneath it. NOPE! Found a cheerio and other items under the chair so I know it was not moved at all!!! Was disappointed that they could not even move one chair! Otherwise the cleaning was good and I hope maybe the company will have some in-​service training to help their employees present a good image for their company which actually I think is a good one.

The carpet is clean and it dried fast. They came out quickly but the service representatives left much to be desired. The phone rep. was very pleasant and assured me that if I didn’t have enough carpet to use up the minimum charge I could use the balance for something like cleaning a couch or the car upholstery. However when the serviceman arrived he acted like he was doing me some kind of favor and thought he could condescend to teach me about money by saying things like, «this stuff isn’t free.» even though I never asked for «this stuff» in the first place. When I asked that any unused minimum go toward a couch cleaning, he balked and told me that he doesn’t know anyone who would do a couch for $ 40. Who knows where he got that number. I was just suggesting that he do as much work as the minimum allows, not the whole couch for some bargain price. He was argumentative, arrogant, and wouldn’t look at me. It turned out that my small area did use up the minimum (unlike other companies) so it was a moot point. Considering I paid much more for this company in dollars as well as in frustration, I don’t know if I would hire them again.

— Oriental carpet, removed from home for cleaning.
— Wall to wall carpet, cleaned in the home.
Was surprised at how affordable the services were.
All services done on schedule with excellent results.
We recommend this firm to anyone needing these and/​or the the types of services offered by this firm.

I called about an area rug with an intense blueberry smoothie stain. This was dark purple on a cream rug… Ugly. I did not have high hopes. They came to pick it up and dropped it off a week later. I couldn’t believe it. It was like nothing ever happened. A perfect rug came back after a rug murder. If they can get this out, they can get your stain out.

The COIT representative who cleaned our carpet did a good job, but did miss a riser on our staircase, and it was much more expensive per hour than Stanley Steemer. COIT came out to $ 163 per hour vs. $ 130 per hour for Stanley Steemer — who we had in last fall. The 35% discount is based off of an inflated initial price. The representative who came out from COIT was professional, worked hard, was careful, and arrived on time. I’m overall happy with the results.
If price is not the main concern, COIT will take care of you. The house really smelled clean and fresh afterwords, and there was no up-​selling of products or services like other companies we’ve had do our floors.

I was extremely disappointed with Coit duct cleaning services. It is hard to find a good point in their service except for setting the appointment and the service team showing up at the appointmrnt time. The 2 man crew did absolutely no clean up after the service. Having drilled many holes in the ducts so as to insert their cleaning equipment they did not clean any residue from the drilling process. Additionallyfter having a furnace service this week, I found many plugs used to plug the drilled holes in the furnace area. The service team was called back into the house after leaving as they not only didn’t clean 2 very obvious heating vents but several were not replaced with the screws, which the crew left along side the area of the vents. Additionally, after the crew left I found several areas where dirt and residue from the cleaning was clearly left behind. With the furnace repair service we found the furnace had not been vacuumed or cleaned as promised by both Coit and the service crew. I have used coit in the past for other services but will not use them again for any services due to this experience. I have used ductworks for duct cleaning and their service pertaining to the above issues is far superior. As far as duct cleaning who is to know the efficacy of the service as the customer is to believe the service is done to satisfaction because during the service the provider runs loud equipment and drills holes in your duct work

Simply awful. They spent less than 15 minutes on our sofa and washed our rug on our hardwood floor leaving puddles. When our nanny complained to them, they insulted my husband and me. We complained and had the services redone. Ater all of this stress and aggravation, I had to ask for compensation. They took $ 40 off the price — ridiculous after such a fiasco. We will never use this company again.
