This could not have been a better experience! David showed up when he was supposed to. He quickly found the problem with my Frigidaire dishwasher, had the part required, gave me the price and fixed it. Then before he left he gave me some pointers about operating the dishwasher that were very helpful. So glad I chose Universal. I will definitely call them again if the need arises.

Requested a quote through Unilocal at midnight because my oven wouldn’t heat up. Heard back by early morning and booked an appointment. Our oven was working in plenty of time for dinner with very little cost!
Can’t say enough about their helpfulness and customer service. While I hope I do not have to call them for anything again, but I know who to call if I need to!

Lifesavers! Our dryer decided to die, and someone suggested it might just be a belt. After looking at other Unilocal reviews, I called Universal Appliance Service this morning. I was told that someone would be here between 3 and 6 today. At 1:00 I got a call asking if 2:00 would be convenient. Heck yes! Gary showed up when promised. The problem was indeed a belt and a pulley. Gary replaced them, vacuumed all the dust, pet fur, and lint from the deep recesses of the dryer, and even checked my washer, which was leaking. (It could be fixed but for what it would cost, he recommended that we get a new washer.) Gary was courteous and pleasant. He even intuited that when I asked him to make sure the screen door was latched, it was because we had cats. And he recognized my dog, which is an unusual breed. A good guy and a good repairman. Thanks!

Mike was my hero today. Our oven broke and I really didn’t want to buy a new one. Mike called me back in less than 10 minutes and I was lucky that he was in the neighborhood and had time so he came right over. It took him just a few minutes to diagnose the problem. He had the part and it took him about 10 minutes to fix our oven. And the price was about 15% of a new oven! Plus Mike was personable, professional and polite. I can’t recommend him more! I’d give him 10 stars if I could!

My Whirlpool refrigerator door was not sealing & closing properly & I thought it was because I needed a new rubber gasket around the door. Mike said the part is pricey & suggested it would be better for him to make a service call & evaluate the problem before ordering & charging me for a part I might not need. He was so right! Mike was at my house within an hour … He balanced the door, cleaned the vent & the door now closes & seals perfectly! The charge was $ 125 and I am so happy I don’t have to go out & buy a new refrigerator! Thank you, Mike!

Our oven went out two days before Christmas. I called Universal Appliance Service and within 3 hours I had a response, arrival and a fixed oven. Fantastic customer service! Thanks again and I will call you again!

My 13 year old refrigerator stopped cooling and defrosting. Boris showed up within an hour of me calling, got it fixed up like new. We are moving 60 miles away in two days and so he called me later that day and asked if he can come back the following day to make sure everything was working properly before we moved away!

My 15 year old kenmore fridge was leaking water all a sudden and I had a party scheduled later that evening. A quick call sent home a tech, who arrived on time ($ 45 service call). He quickly diagnosed the problem as the thermostat. Once the go ahead was given by my parents (who were visiting), it was quickly fixed for $ 340 or so. The thermostat is on the back of the fridge and not easy to get to. Its a pricey service, but it got quickly taken care of. You pay for the knowledge and know how to get it done. Sure I could have saved a few bucks and tried diagnosing it to fix it myself, but its just easier to call Universal to fix it.
They also fixed the fridge gasket with vaseline and a hair dryer (no more air leaks, may have been the reason for the thermostat to fail). He also removed the virgin ice maker and gave me more room on the inside. The fridge is cooling much better. A few changes on the interior settings recommended by the tech took care of the uneven cooling (somehow the interior airflow window was kinda closed).
Regardless, great job! I will ask them to come fix a few more things when they break.

I should have listed to the reviews… the REAL reviews about how inconsistent their pricing is.
First, we were told that the service visit would cost $ 45. No problem. The gentleman gets here, and immediately can figure out that our refrigerator leaking is the Solenoid… a simple valve part. It took him 5 minutes, and that was with me turning on the water and showing him where the leak was.
So he tells me that the part is $ 150 and his labor is $ 189. That’s a lot of labor for four screws. SO we look online and see the part is much cheaper, but figure ok we don’t want to figure out how to replace it so we should just pay the guy to do it. We negotiate a little and he is EXTREMELY pissed at this point. Calls his office and they approve of a lower fee. Thanks.
But they don’t have the part. He has to go get it at the office. But then calls later to say they don’t have it either and will need to order it… online lol. So next day they get the part, I sit home all day waiting for them to call or update us. We get a call saying he will be here in an hour. Two hours later arrives and puts in the new part. Then tells me he is not going to push back in my fridge in case it isn’t fixed or still leaks. Hahaha. So maybe we just should have tried it ourselves?
I get it — every fridge is different and every set up is different. But service and pricing should always be consistent. Me holding my 3 month old baby trying to push back in my fridge is something I can’t accept — what kind of man makes a woman holding a baby do that?

On time, same day service within 4 hours of calling… David arrived within the time window and was able diagnose the problem quickly and performed the repair for a reasonable price. Thanks for getting our laundry cycle back on track! I would recommend them if you are ever in need of LG Dryer repair.

Our fridge died on a Saturday afternoon. Mike was at our house within 2 hrs of my call. He was very friendly and professional. Took the time to explain what was wrong and fixed it promptly at a reasonable price. I would recommend Universal to all my friends.

We called Universal Appliance Service because our dryer wouldn’t turn on. The service man came and diagnosed the problem to be with the door switch. He said that since this was a generic part (not model dependent), he carried one in the truck. He quoted a price of $ 81 for the switch and $ 125 labor for a total of $ 213 with tax. He replaced the switch in about 5 minutes.
Afterward, we looked up the cost of the part online (Whirlpool 3 406 107) and found it to be about $ 10. Considering the huge markup on the price of the part and the high labor cost, I feel that this was a ripoff. I would not recommend this company for any appliance repairs.

Same day Service! Gary came and did a fantastic job. They didn’t try to sell me anything extra that I didn’t need, good prices. Would do business with again.

I’m using Universal Appliance Service for appliance repairs in 100 unit apartment building. Mike is the guy that I usually deal. He always respond right away. Using his service makes my life easier because my tenants don’t have to wait for weeks until repairman will show up and always happy with repairs. He is always coming to my building right away and he definitely knows what he is doing.
This company has been recommended to me by another manager and after years of using their service I can highly recommend them to everybody.
Fast, reliable, professional, good prices.
No idea why some people are complaining, probably sometimes it’s impossible to make them happy.

Gary was excellent. He was very honest and fixed my bosch dishwasher and gave me tips on how to keep it clean and what detergent to use going forward.
Clearly he knew what he was talking about. He took the time to check my washer and dryer and I had no idea where the mold grows inside the tire track. He showed me how to clean it and what type/​amount of detergent is needed for front loaders. He gave great tips that I would not have gotten through any other service provider. Will be using them again for sure. Happy to see people who are passionate and knowledgable about their line of work. It clearly shows.

Very Reasonable Price!
Mike was such a great help to us one Saturday morning! Our refrigerator had stopped working and we had a wet floor because of the defrosting freezer. Mike showed up after 2 hours of calling him in the morning. He immediately got to work and quickly found the problem. Our refrigerator was up and running right away. Yay, for not having to buy a new fridge! Mike was courteous and his service was great! We will definitely seek him out again whether it be for a repair, or suggestions on which brands to trust.

The washer machine started to leak water, we called Universal and after few hours a very nice and humble technician showed up, he found the leak right a way and charged us $ 167 for the repair– new pipeline and it will be include labor, material and the service call BUT if you think about it it’s include a lot more: his knowledge, his time, advertising on Unilocal,his gas, his license, his insurance, and a lot more… Like taxes and all the over head that a business has. I know a pipe line maybe cost them $ 10 but people need to understand that there is a lot more expenses, I agree that you guys need to make money, you deserve that!!!

I sent an email on Sunday morning even though I realized they were closed. I was shocked to relieve a call from Mike minutes later. He was extremely friendly and said it would be no problem to come out first thing Monday.
Not only was he fast and friendly in Monday, he actually charged me less than the original quote as he was able to repair my oven thermostat rather than replace it.
I would definitely use these guys again anytime.
