The Fertility Institutes

I will not use a facility that gets Criminal Investigation warning letters from the FDA.
Sure this was in 2008, but it’s a huge red flag. Very few companies ever receive such a letter.
My suggestion is to avoid.

I was one who had read the negatives that people have written here about Dr Steinberg’s fertility Center. I almost lost the opportunity of meeting and getting treatment with am experienced DOCTOR, wonderful workers. Please I will advice anyone seeking quality service for fertility treatment to go here. I have lived it and I can testify that he is among the best 3 maybe the number one in the country. Docs. this is your patient from Africa. Thank you for your patience, tolerance and time and above all the professional treatment I received. I am now part of the family. Expect my positive update. I LOVE YOU ALL. THOSE AMAZING NURSES. GOD RICHLY BLESS YOU!!!

DO NOT GO HERE. If I could put that into 100-​point font, it would still be too small.
There are so many problems with this place I honestly don’t know where to start. How about with the exorbitant and surprise costs! The fees listed on their website are «approximate» and many things are not included in this estimate. Want to make sure you get your levels tested during the process? It’s extra! Want anesthesia during the retrieval? It’s extra! Want to retrieve your «property» from deep freeze? There’s a release fee!
Add to this the generally dismissive and disrespectful attitude from the doctor and you have a recipe for disaster. Choose someone else. Anyone else.

I have been a Surrogate for Dr. Steinberg twice with successful results now going on my third. It is an amazing feeling to help someone have a child and I am lucky enough to have the Best Dr. there with me during the process. Ana who is his head nurse is such a sweetheart, has such a warm heart and is so patient, she communicates with me very well on where we are in the process and is very thorough with the medication process. I have had an amazing experience with Dr. Steinberg, Ana and the rest of the staff.

I can’t say enough about my wonderful experience with Dr. Steinberg and his staff. Going through fertility is an enormously stressful experience but it was made so much easier with the care of Dr. Steinberg and his amazing nurses. I would highly recommend this specialist for couples seeking fertility treatments.

My husband and I made a mistake in coming here. All they are really after is your money! Period ! The doctors and nurses don’t care and I have never come across staff as rude and unprofessional as those here! Do not go there! They tell u it’s $ 20k but u pay more than that yet no pregnancy. About 7mths after we stopped going there I was able to get pregnant naturally? My son is now 8mths! Oh u should watch ‘The Doctors’ show esp episode featuring this clinic. My quest for a particular gender almost made me forgot my faith n ethics. I thank God for making me realise that just in time. I wouldn’t recommend this place besides there are 100s of fertility clinics with warm and receptive personnel with high success rates and at a fraction of the prize don’t be fooled.

PLEASE BE CAREFUL if you are considering going to The Fertility Institute. My husband and I ended up paying about $ 6000-​$ 8000 more then their advertised prices. Our case was difficult and we found out AFTER we paid the nonrefundable down payment that DIFFICULT meant MUCH MORE MONEY in medications. Our approximate cost with this office and medications were about $ 19,000 when our originally understanding of the costs were about $ 12,000.
The doctor and head nurse treated us very rudely throughout the time we were going there! I could go on and on about everything that happened that NEVER should of, but I am just going to shorten this by saying, it was an AWFUL experience!
I am not one to write reviews but I just thought that maybe if I would of read something like this before we signed up with this office, I would of known to ask about any OTHER charges that might occur or maybe I would of gone to get a second opinion at a different office.
It is so difficult for couples going through fertility issues, the way we were treated by this office did not need to be added to the stress of the whole situation.

Horrible treatment. There are much better fertility clinics. The nurses here are kind, but the physicians could benefit from working on their bedside manner.
My doctor here was insulting, patronizing, and practiced a paternalistic approach to healthcare rather than a transparent and collaborative approach.
There were a few times where we were charged for things without being informed in advance. They made a situation that is difficult for most everyone even more difficult.
If you have any questions about medications after hours or complications, it is a bit difficult to get in touch with a doctor, and be prepared to feel as if you are really taxing them and their resources if you have a question about meds after hours – even if your question is urgent and based on the fact that they forgot to provide you with all the information or changed something and didn’t inform you.
Even during the exams or when the doctor was deciding on a course of treatment, I felt like the doctor was acting defensive when I asked questions, no matter how demure and deferential I tried to be. He would respond as if I were questioning his judgment when I was merely trying to understand the information or the rationale or even just out of curiosity. I have never had a doctor like this before who acted as if I were being difficult simply for asking questions.

The offices are clean, and the equipment is modern. The parking attendants are very nice.
Currently, they are holding our sperm hostage by charging us an exorbitant fee to release it (even though our current fertility specialist is using their own courier, their own nitrogen tank, and providing them with a refilled tank) about which they never informed us when we initially banked it with them, and we will likely have to discuss it with them in arbitration later, even though I would be delighted to never have to deal with them again, because we don’t anyone else to have to endure this kind of unprofessional treatment. Informed consent is one of the cornerstones of medical ethics after all.
Incidentally, when shopping around for fertility clinics, don’t be duped the SART data, consult the CDC data.
