The Lanai

Maybe living Japan for over 20 years and some time in Hawaii I had higher expectations. I had the teriyaki chicken plate lunch. Half the rice was cooked correctly the other half was under cooked and hard. $ 30 for a plate lunch and poke bowl and two drinks was high for lunch.
Cool place and tunes. Not sure I’d go back…

My friends and I stopped here for lunch when it first opened. I’m all about supporting local business and I hope they’re more dialed in now. However, the small portions to price left us hungry and disappointed. I haven’t been back since. Cool little vibe though.

Pretty picky about my Hawaiian food especially my loco moco. I have to say it was pretty damn tasty. Spam musubi was made a little different to what I’m use to but still good and felt healthy even though you are eating spam. Looking forward to coming back and trying ore stuff

Gross flies all over my food. Ultra small serving of flavorless fish of the day, and for the price, you won’t get much volume. The smallest serving of sauces and dressings ever seen. Uncomfortable Hard rock gravel on the ground poked through my flip flops, so wear your hiking boots to go sit at a picnic table aside this decorated food truck. The stoner behind the counter got this food order wrong. Didn’t find much flavor in the entire meal. Creepy unsettling giant octopus painted on the wall watched me eat, and makes it feel likely something was going to grab me or my food. Couldn’t wait to get out of here and go get a normal sized local lunch more cheaply, without the cephalopod.

I live really close to here so i was excited to see a new restaurant opening. The seating is really cool, and the Hawaiian décor makes a fun and relaxed vibe. The «restaurant» itself is a food truck, which makes it even more unique.
FOOD: I got the veggie Ban Mi sandwich and my fiancé got the Teriyaki chicken sandwich. Both were SO good and had so much flavor. I need to go back and try to the poke because i’ve heard from friends that it’s really good.
SERVICE: Everyone there was super friendly and even though it was a food truck, the food came out really fast.
This is a great addition to Leucadia and I can’t wait to go back!

Tri Tip volcano chili was excellent as well as the «broke da mouth» sandwich with pulled pork, bacon and a fried egg. Also, the hot sauces they have concocted are the real deal! Perfect addition to the neighbor. Definitely headed back soon to try all of the ahi poke bowl combinations!

I gave only 3 stars due to the small servings. My Teri Chicken combo was definitely not «Local portions» but tasted good. The place had a backyard bbq feel to it and lots of Hawaiian plants.

I have been excited to try this place since I first saw the coming soon sign. I love Hawaiian food and was stoked to have another option in town.
On my first visit we got a to go order, and after eating was left confused about how I felt about the place. There were things I loved and things I hated.
I got the Katsu and pork combo plate, and my girlfriend got the broke da mouth sando. Her sandwich was delicious… The Kalua pig, bacon, and fried egg made for a perfect taste and texture mix.
My Katsu was crispy and delicious, but my kalua pig was so salty that I could only eat a couple of bites of it before throwing it away. Sad. Beyond that, the Mac salad was a weird, flavorless, mushy mess, and the fried rice… Mushy and brutally salty, in no way worth the extra 2 dollar charge.
The redeeming, Amazing aspects… Hot sauces and chili water are on point! Nice to have hot sauce that is actually spicy, and their volcano sauce has quite the kick. Their peanut miso sauce is one of the best sauces I have had in a while, and will be going back just for that… Just incredible. Also, the Bok Choy kimchi is awesome. Nice and crispy with enoki mushrooms in it, and was one of my favorite parts of the meal.
I would give 5 stars for the sauces, kimchi, Katsu, and the sando.
The Mac salad, rice, and kalua pork on my plate were really really bad, and while I will be going back, I will be avoiding these three things at all costs.
Overall, some of the food was terrible, most of it was great, and it’s a really cool place. There’s outdoor seating at picnic tables, mellow music, an awesome mural against the back wall, and the owner is friendly.
