Before I met Jake May, I had my home listed with another big name «Team» located in Carlsbad. After 7 months of nothing, I was finally told that I had my house listed too high and I should lower the price. This after ZERO open houses in that 7 month span. I was introduced to Jake through an ex neighbor. Jake told me he could get the price I wanted plus he would have the home sold within a month tops. I have to admit, I was very skeptical. Well, he held an open house the day I signed with him and he had a buyer (actually 3 offers total) for my home in less than a week at 2k OVER my target price. The difference with Jake is that he is a true SALESMAN (a rare breed these days) and he actively markets his listings instead of waiting for another Realtor to bring in a buyer. If you want a Realtor who will actively market your home and not just sit on the listing, hoping someone will bring in a buyer, then Jake is your man.

Jake and his team provide excellent service throughout the entire home purchasing process! What I think people are afraid of when they hire a Realtor is, «how much is this going to cost me?» Yes, you can sell your house yourself, through an attorney, through a cheap firm — but what you’re missing out on is that Quality Professional who literally pays for themselves.
Jake is quality. Both when we sold, and when we bought. I would have listed my house, and taken an offer that was 9% lower than what he got for my place, so he paid for himself. His knowledge of the local market, of how to stage the place, what to highlight, how to list — paid all of his commissions and got me extra money on top of what we were looking for. He walked us through the escrow process, walked us through the selling process, immediately returned phone calls, always had an answer for us. It was fast, it was efficient, there was no headache involved — he took care of everything for us.
When we bought a place, he was willing to go to as many places as it took to find that right place; walked us through multiple offers until we found the place that accepted our offer. While we looked at the floor plan, he was poking around the heater/​air, pool equipment, slab, rooftop, etc — he was looking for signs of damage, signs of wear, things that might Red Flag the property as a potential headache and warned us about them. It was comforting to have someone who was experienced, who has sold hundreds of homes, who knew what and where to look for obvious signs that ‘you might not want to put in an offer on this one’ or ‘this place looks good’. He’s upfront with you, honest with you, and cares that you find the right place.
I had a realtor at an open house once tell me, if you drop your agent, I can give you this place cheaper — seriously?!? It just screams someone who is looking to line their pockets, couldn’t care less if the buyers are happy, if the sellers are happy — as long as he could ‘double end’ the commissions that agent was happy. Jake will never do that to you, and you will know that he’s looking out for you first and foremost. He doesn’t pressure you to make an offer you aren’t ready to make, he won’t ask you to make a higher offer if you don’t feel comfortable — it’s your house, it’s your bid, he’s simply there to make sure you are taken care of, that you’re well informed, and that you are happy with the results.
