History

Established in 2003.

I have been living in San Diego since 1993. In 1997 graduated from UCSD with a degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology with a minor in Psychology. I moved back to LA in 2000 to attend chiropractic school and returned in 2003 and started my practice at the Acacia Health Center in Solana Beach. In 2007 I co-​founded the North County Integrative Health Center in Encinitas. In June of 2011 I joined forces with both Paradigm Wellness and Indigo Dragon Center for Health and Wellbeing.

I have now aligned myself with the best acupuncturists, bodyworkers, chiropractors, nutritionists, and trainers to best fit the needs of my clients. My philosophy is highly integrative and utilizes multiple natural healing methods to help my clients’ move towards their health and wellness goals.

I started seeing Dr. Hom when I was pregnant and having backpain. Getting adjusted by him was the only thing that helped me feel better! I now see him regularly with my two kids and my toddler likes him so much that he cheers when we are headed to our appointment. He has helped my baby with digestive issues and is great with children. I have seen 3 chiropractors in the past and I highly recommend Dr. Hom. He is a friendly and kind person and getting adjusted by him regularly has helped my family feel healthy and happy.

I have been seeing Dr Hom for approx 6 months, primarily for lower back pain brought on by (a) extensive international travel, and (b) having two toddlers. The back pain was bad enough that I was taking about 2X the manufacturer’s recommended dose of ibuprofen («vitamin I») to be able to sleep at night. Within a few adjustments, my back pain was gone… and I was able to resume jogging, playing hoops, and 12 hour flights to Asia and Europe.
Coincidentally, I have known Dr Hom since we were both undergraduates at UCSD. Even then, when we just a hair older than children, I truly enjoyed being Steve’s friend.
I would highly recommend Dr Hom to anyone in need of a solid chiropractor.

Dr. Steve Hom was recommended to me by a family member, and I have been very happy with his work. He is a very knowledgeable, careful, and responsible chiropractor. He takes time to get to know a patient. He seeks to locate the cause of a pain and works on that point specifically. I’ve been seeing him over the past month, and he’s helped issues that I didn’t know could be helped, as well as helping to quickly relieve back pain and headaches caused by tight muscles. Chiropractic and massage can help solve or relieve many health issues, and I most highly recommend Dr. Hom.

Dr. Hom has been an excellent chiropractor for me for over two years now. I’ve been using chiropractic for over eight years, and I really enjoy his treatments. His treatments have given me a lot of relief, and he always spends the time with you to carefully understand your goals, adjust and treat, which I feel is more effective. I was really impressed with Dr. Hom’s approach to care! I’ve been to other chiropractors and I’ve never been asked about my everyday habits. Dr. Hom takes the time to review your diet, exercise habits and everyday functions to get to know YOU so that he can formulate the best treatment plan. I started seeing Dr. Steve about 6 months ago when I started a project to surf every day for a year straight. I have been suffering from DDD and herniated discs for many years and I knew this year was going to have it’s way with my back!
Seeing Steve regularly has almost completely alleviated my pain — and as a bonus has kept me from getting sick, decreased my allergy symptoms, and has managed to cure pinched nerves, tweaked muscles — you name it — from the stresses of surfing every day with no rest.
He also has treated my two young boys, 4 and 6, and they LOVE him! He is gentle and fun and has really helped them from getting sick from virus or allergies.
They both had pneumonia when they were younger and it damaged their lungs — giving them Reactive Airway Disease, ending up on the nebulizer with every cold.
Knock on wood — since starting to see Steve a couple times a month — they have yet to need a breathing treatment this year! WOOHOO!!!
I would recommend Dr. Steve to anyone — and his office is great too — french doors opening up to a beautiful garden.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Hom. He has been such a great help in my life when I have needed a good chiropractor. I have a jaw that goes out periodically and Dr Hom has never failed me in adjusting and getting me back to functioning fairly quickly and painlessly. Always by the next day swelling is diminished and I am able to once again eat properly. Also with his skilled chiropractic care I have had a significant decrease in this issue. I trust him, he is a great individual along with being a gifted and skilled doctor. I have recommended him and will continue to recommend him to my family, friends and clients from my many years of being a pilates studio owner. It is sincerely comforting to know he is there to help me continue my journey on the road to good health.

I’ve had back pain on and off for the past 5 years from sitting in a chair 8 hours a day. Whenever the pain acts up I try to see Steve ASAP. Typically he can make slight adjustments to alleviate the pain. The best part is he can detect how the pain is caused and offer exercise i can do at home to help strength or relax the area of concern. Steve is friendly, smart and helpful and I would highly recommend him.

I had a slipped rib that woke me up in the middle of the night nearly every night. I went to a Chiropractor near my work in Serrento Valley twice a week, for 2 months and didn’t get a bit of relief. I was refereed to Steve, and after 2 – 3 appointments with him, I was able to sleep through the whole night with no issues.
Steve not only did a great job on relieving my pain, but he was just a cool and down to earth guy who will get to know you on a personal level and treat you like a friend, not just a client. When i moved away from San Diego last year, he helped me and my wife find a good Chiropractor in Denver.

I used to work for a chiropractor so I know how important chiropractic care is. I also avoid going to the doctors and putting medicine/​chemicals in my body when I can, so chiropractic is a natural and holistic way to keep your body healthy.
Dr. Steve Hom is an easy going guy who will help you get your body as healthy as possible from the inside out. He’s not pushy but very knowledgeable about diet, the structure of your body, and how it’s all connected.
Unlike some chiropractic offices where there are 10 people waiting and the doctor cracks your back and sends you home, Dr. Steve spends a minimum of 15 minutes each appointment. I have also had a massage by Kelle that was awesome. She knew exactly where the tight spots were and worked them out. I have yet to try out the acupuncture that is available but I’m curious.
The office is very tranquil and relaxing. The office staff are all very kind and friendly. Just so you know, I drive all the way from Rolando to Escondido, they’re THAT good!
