San Diego Gas and Car Wash – Encinitas Shell

If I can give negative stars I would! This place sucks! The first time I went there I had crumbs all over my floors nothing was wiped and there were streaks on all my windows! Soooo I decide to go back a second time and let the guy know they didn’t do a thorough job and he’s like oh yeah don’t worry we will do a good job I’ll let the guys know! (I only gave them a second chance bc it’s close to my work and I’m so busy) anyways! What a surprise they did the same exact job as last time! Literally $ 30 in the trash! Whoever owns this place has the worst employees and the worst service! These guys suck! Never again will I take my car there and I’ll be sure to let everyone in my shopping center and at work know how horrible of a job they do!

I was here 10 months ago for a detail. Paid a lot of $$ and waited 2 hours for my car. Drove home and opened the sunroof shade to find they hadn’t even cleaned the moon roof (among other things I found). Fast forward to today and what a rip off! I got the $ 16.99 wash which is exterior and interior. They didn’t vacuum my third row or the trunk of my suv. Most people probably drive off unsuspecting until they get home. Water marks on the front and rear, windshield streaks and to top it off they didn’t wipe down the center console — the easiest part of the job.
I complained and all they did was vacuum. I have no one to blame but me for going for convenience and not checking Unilocal beforehand.

Tried them again just to see if they would do better and did an absolute awful job. No excuse as it was not even busy. Paid to have my mats cleaned and dash dresssed and they did not do either and when I pointed this out they copped an attitude. To top it off, they walked all over my car with dirty shoes. Last time ever.

HORRIBLE CAR WASH! I paid more for a car wash then I ever have and the interior wasn’t touched! There was sand in the backseat, there wasn’t even an attempt to clean a small spill in the front, and the windshield has streaks up and down it! When I arrived an employee was yelling at the other workers to approach me. They told me it would take 20 minutes. 45 MINUTES LATER I asked the man why they haven’t finished and it was only then that he informed me that you have to wait outside. He also seem high or just totally incompetent! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY THIS PLACE SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN!

The guys who wash the cars are awesome and do a great job. The old grey haired gentlemen inside is extremely rude though. They lost another customer due to his lack of customer service. Maybe they’d have more than 3 stars if their cashiers didn’t bark at you every time you asked a question

I got seriously scammed at Shell Car Wash!
I wanted about a $ 30 car wash that was my budget…
I had a scratch on the side of my SUV and the car wash guy said «if you do the $ 69 «car wash we will take that scratch out. I said «please take it out for $ 35» and the car wash guy said «we n need to use special stuff to remove the scratch and it will cost $ 69». i said OK and when I came back the scratch was still there. The management team went to the guy that quoted me the $ 69 and he said «I never said that». I am stuck with a $ 69 car wash that is not what I was told and the job was less than fair. –Still lots of stuff in the console. The seats were never cleaned and they just said «we waxed your car so you’re stuck».
I will never go there again

I have been to this location a several times for its convenient location, yesterday I went and came home to find out my third row carpet is as dirty as the way it was. This is not the first time but it’s definitely my last time there. Gotta find a new car wash place.

I have been coming here for a couple years and each time the car wash gets worse.
One time I had to actually go back to have my windows redone because I could barely see out of them. The guy used the towel he used to dress the dashboard to clean the windows! Looked like an oil slick.
Mostly, they just rush through the wipe down and miss a good portion of the car leaving water spots, streaks and dirty areas. Dont get me started on the glass I literally come home and go over the car again.
Today I had to point out so many areas the guy missed, even then, he didn’t notice that the areas hadn’t been touched. I finally just gave up and told him I’d clean it myself, he seemed okay with that.
I kept telling myself I won’t go back, but they are close and convenient so I keep giving them a chance hoping it’ll get better. I am positive after today that I won’t go back, ever.
BTW I have never posted a review on Unilocal before, this place has changed that.
I’d give em a half star based on their consistent poor washes.

I got a hand car wash there for $ 35. Which is $ 10 more than the platinum wash… But when I drove away it looked like the interior wasn’t even touched. There were still crumbs and hair, which seemed to never been vacuumed. When I went home I also had to re wash some of the spots that weren’t even touched on the outside of the car. I give three stars bc I have had a good car wash in the past from them. I though that upgrading to the hand wash would mean I get a better wash.
They have very friendly service and and are very quick, but if anyone gets a hand car wash, make sure they also do the interior.

This place is nice. It’s prices are always going up or down just like any other gas station around in the area, but what I do not understand at all is why is there another Shell gas station RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET (in the REI shopping center) and that gas station always seems to be 10 cents more in pricing than the gas station here in the Stater Brothers side?!

I needed to put air in my car tire, I put my coins in and grabbed the hose, it fell apart and you could see where they had tried to rig it back together before.
I asked for my change back and they told me they were not responsible.
Well for $ 1.00 they have lost all of my business!

Disappointing. Paid $ 21 for a carwash, vacuum and interior wipe down. Streaky windshield and I had to re-​vacuum the car when I got home! All I wanted was a doghair free car. Next time I’ll do it myself or pay for a full detail somewhere else.

Don’t get your oil change, tune ups, or any other work done here. I’ve been there 4 times and they always find a way to make a $ 30 oil change into a $ 60+ oil change. Not only do they lie to your face, they are a rip off and could care less about about customer service. Jiffy lube and costal foreign auto is a block away thankfully and will be getting my business from now on! Thanks for nothing ad usual sHell

Car wash is good. Not the best, but their standard wash at 11.99 is great for vacuuming up the crumbs and dirt from my kids. My car is never 100%, but it is good enough for the price. Appreciate that they don’t charge the $ 1 – 2 extra for large vehicle. Guys who work the wash are always very nice.

The lady who works inside on weekday mornings is one of the nicest, most people in the service industry. Despite dreading the pump (my poor bank account), being helped by her in the mornings certainly cushions the blow.
Also, great Rewards program and discounts on gas!

I came in tonight to hear Winter Rose complaining to everyone in that management is getting annoyed with her shit but it’s not her fault because she works 6 nights a week. I work full time while going to school full time, that’s no excuse for being a bitch to customers and not knowing how to handle a cash draw. Winter Rose threw yet another fit about breaking a $ 20 for a 6-​pack beer and a pack of cigarettes. She also took a good 5 minutes to ring me up because she was so busy complaining. Winter Rose needs to be fired.

I have been a regular customer at this Shell for years. My boyfriend will only fill our 5 cars with gas at this station. Its also the perfect place to stop in and grab cigarettes/​beer on the way home. But lately it has just been complete crap on the customer service front. This lady, Winter Rose, has been a complete bitch to my boyfriend and I on various occasions.
He often only carries large bills and doesn’t like to use credit cards. The other day (around 5pm) he tried to get $ 60 dollars of gas and 2 packs of cigarettes, totaling around $ 80 and Winter Rose refused to break his $ 100. Seriously, it would only take a single $ 20 and some $ 1’s! He went across the street to the other shell and they broke it just fine. I came back a little bit later (around 7:30) trying to buy some water, using a $ 5 bill on a $ 2.50 transaction and Winter Rose told me she didn’t have the change. Seriously, 2 $ 1’s and 2 quarters? She made me use my card, which I then occurred a 50 cent charge from my bank for. Tonight was the last straw, my boyfriend came in (around 8:30) to buy beer and cigarettes. Winter Rose asked him to wait 5 minutes, so she could have her smoke. She then started shouting at him because he was going to walk out due to her laziness and lack of speed, again he was just stopping in real quick. Finally when Winter Rose came in, she was gruff and inconsiderate to my boyfriend. She gripped about the fact that last time he came in he didn’t buy anything (because she couldn’t break his $ 100) and was wondering why he didn’t come back once he broke it (again the other Shell broke it). Winter Rose then asked him to pay for his $ 18.60 transaction in exchange change or only $ 1’s. Mind you, this time he had thought ahead and brought a $ 20. When he said he didn’t have enough singles, Winter Rose threw a fit and begged him to use his card. He refused and she eventually (­complaining the whole time) broke his $ 20 and gave him his change, a whopping $ 1.40. What 20 pump gas station can’t break anything between a $ 100 and a $ 5 anytime after 4pm? Am I expected to pay for my gas in $ 1’s? Thank god I don’t drive any SUVs, I’d need a duffel bag!
This lady is ridiculous. Winter Rose seems to get offended if you don’t want to have a 20 minute conversation with her, which most of the time revolves around how much she hates her job. I have numerous times gone in there and been told by her that she’s «too tired for this bullshit. Do so and so action to make my life easier.» Winter Rose obviously doesn’t know how to handle a change draw and definitely wasn’t taught manners. Due to this behavior by Winter Rose, it has made my boyfriend and I consider stop coming here because of her lazy and abrasive ways.

You always have to deal with «salesmen» trying to sell you booklets and wax and this and that. So annoying. They recently ripped off my wife who bought me some detailing jobs for my birthday. $ 80 for a hand wash/​wax/​tire shine. I went in the first time and the guy tried to send my car through the car wash instead of hand washing it. It wasn’t just a misunderstanding, he argued with me about it. Um ya, I’m not paying $ 80 to run my car through a $ 10 car wash. He finally gave in and pulled it around to hand wash it. When it came time for the wax, the guy sprayed some milky liquid out of a spray bottle and wiped it off with a dirty cloth he had just dried the car with. He «waxed» the whole car in about 5 minutes. What a joke. RIPOFF!!!
When I went back for my second «detail» my wife brought her car along too. She was tricked into paying $ 45 for a hand wash. Long story… another time. Anyway, so both our cars are being hand washed side by side (her $ 45 job and my $ 80 job). This time my truck was not «waxed» at all. They completely skipped it!!! They did the EXACT same crappy, lazy job on my $ 80 «detail» as they did on her $ 45 hand wash. Embarrassingly pathetic guys. Come on! My car was COVERED in water spots from a poor drying job and lack of wax. It almost didn’t look like it had even been washed. I have had better $ 6 drive through washes.
NEVER come here. You will be manipulated, ripped off, and made a fool of. Run for the hills!

I have been to this car wash twice. It is not my normal wash place, but if I’m in the area I like to come here.
I was my car weekly. But after all the fire ash I thought my car needed a little extra attention. I had it washed & waxed. It was $ 120. It looks so good. It took them about 45 min. Which they had told me up front. This was fine, I walked over and did a little shopping. It was done right on time. I liked that they blew all the water out from the side mirrors. Because it makes me mad to get a wash and drive away and water leaks from mirrors to ruin the wash.
I would say they are quick & efficient.

I needed gas one evening and it was either Shell or Arco. Why was it that Arco was more expensive baffled me.
The station is well lit and pumps avail when I arrived. The gas is a bit more expensive in this location vs. where I usually fill up in San Marcos (actually about 10 cents more).
Located in a busy shopping center raking in the business. This place also has a car wash and nice mini-​mart to replenish your or your car’s needs.
Note: If you pay by credit card and want a receipt, you would have to go inside for the print out. Ugh… Not convenient…

Amazingly, from what I understand, this Shell is the highest profiting Shell in the San Diego region. I’ll need to verify that given it just doesn’t make sense to me except for the possibility that it is the only gas station with a 3 mile radius more or less. It’s a clean station and very organized.
Short of a «garage,» it has everything you need: a car wash (not to be reviewed — it’s overpriced — maybe that’s a review), a mini-​mart, propane dispenser, and a Skewers (to go place and review coming) inside.
It’s a fairly busy station but there’s never «lines» when I go there. Gas prices are average, but not the highest I’ve seen.
