Encinitas Car Wash and Chevron

Gave this place a second chance after not being completely satisfied the first time because it’s close to my job and I thought I could get my car washed on my lunch break. Think again… service so slow they couldn’t get my car finished within an hour, and I got the «express wash!» I had to leave without having the car wiped down because lunch break was up. I ended up wiping the spots off the windows myself when I got home. AND cleaning the sand off the mats (that were vacuumed there) AND cleaning the center console/​dash. Won’t be going back… fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me… fool me 3 times, well you can’t fool me again! Haha

I would say this location has the best customer service I have experienced from any car wash or station I have been to. I had a minor issue occur while having my car washed and the the owner, managers and employees all were incredibly supportive and helpful. The attention to this as well as the work they do on washing and detailing autos is fantastic! I will definitely be back!

I paid extra for the diamond package so my wheels would get «hand cleaned» according to their sign. Not happy with what I got for the money ($ 27.99). Looks like they merely sprayed tire wet on the rubber and did nothing else (see pics).
Sand still left in the floor mats, and they sprayed armor all on everything, including the steering wheel! Who does that? I nearly fell on my keester slipping off my step rails which also received a generous helping of armor all.
Never going back.

I wish I had read all the bad reviews on Unilocal before I went there. When I arrived I was happy to see that there was no line to get my car washed at noon on a Tuesday. I asked for the Diamond wash which includes an outside wash, an interior vacuum, a vinyl dressing on the interior and exterior (i.e. Armor-​All the vinyl), and shine up the tires. Those were the main things I wanted done, so I was happy to spend the extra money to get it nice and shiny! The guy who helped me first tried to upsell me a wax right off the bat, but I wasn’t interested, just wanted the Diamond wash. I went inside to pay and grab some lunch from the deli, which was decent enough for a gas station deli, but way overpriced! I could see them moving my car into position to go through the wash, but I had forgotten to remove my roof antenna (my bad), so I ran out to unscrew it from the roof, but the person who had started soaping up the car with brushes told me the machine wasn’t working, so it wouldn’t be in danger of getting ripped off. Ok??? So, I had already paid at this point, and it appeared that I was just going to get a hand wash (with brushes), then the machine would rinse off and blow dry the car at the end. I was okay with that, but a little concerned with the large brushes these guys were being very brazen with on my car. I went to the other side (exit side) of the machine and saw my car pop out with no one inside. I waited for someone to jump in and pull it ahead, but it just sat there for a few minutes while some younger men (employees?) rode some bicycles around the car looking at it. What was going on??? Finally one of them got in the car, pulled it around to the «drying and detailing» area where a couple guys began to apparently dry it off and dressing the vinyl. Once I was told that it was ready to go, I walked over and could immediately tell that it was a bad job. My car is black, so it’s very easy to see water marks, and my car was covered! So, I grabbed a towel from the stack of used towels they left on the hood of my car and started rubbing off the water marks myself. For 5 minutes I was cleaning all the spots they missed. Finally, someone came over and asked if I needed help? Really??? No, thanks, I’ll just keep doing the job you were supposed to do! I finished cleaning the water marks off and I had to get back to work, so I got in my car and left. On my way back to work I noticed that they did not use the vinyl dressing on the driver side door. Also, there is a dent in the rear bumper that I had never noticed before… I’m not saying that they definitely did it, but it’s a new dent to me, and with the way that these guys were being so careless about my car, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was from them.
My claim check says that the Diamond package is $ 26.99, but my receipt says it’s $ 27.99. I was charged an extra $ 2 for having a 3 row SUV. My car is a Jeep Grand Cherokee. That is a 2 Row SUV, NOT a 3 Row! To top it off, I gave these guys a tip, not a huge one, but they really deserved nothing! I can’t believe I spent $ 30 on this so-​called «car wash!»

The service at this place has truly gone downhill!!! I would rate this place a 0 if it was an option. There left water spots all over my windows and said it’s because I drove in the rain. I asked then everyone’s car still has water spots? And then the manager said it’s because I park next to sprinklers and other customers don’t. I have a brand new car and am selective on where I park. This place would not refund my money and only offered to rewash the car. We have much older cars and there has never been an issue if water spots not coming off. Never coming back to this place. So sloppy! Poor service and accusations to their customers for a poor job!!!

Erin B outlines it perfect. This has to be the worst car wash in town. For 20 $, they couldn’t be bothered to even wipe down the windows, not to mention actually cleaning the interior of the car. What an absurd joke of a business.
Keep your money.

I will NEVER be coming back to this place. The exterior of my truck was dried before they left it for 10 mins and completely finished another car that came out after mine. And once it was ‘done’, I had to grab one of their rags and spend another few minutes on the inside by myself. I like my truck clean, almost debating taking it somewhere else to have the job finished. Be forewarned, avoid this place.

Do not recommend this place for a car wash. I’ve been here 3 times and each time it’s a disappointment. The outside of the car was still dirty when we picked it up. Will not be back.

Great car wash, wax full interior cleaning and service at Chevron Car Wash Encinitas Blvd. Jose, Romero and Florentini are true professionals! This is my first time using the car wash services after having driven by many times.
We were planning to detail our suv ourselves or hire a mobile detail person in the future. When I drove up today I intended to have the suv washed interior a bit and exterior and also vacuumed. Our suv needed some extra cleaning attention since returning from a set of trips we took this summer with our dog but we haven’t had the time. In addition to hair and general camping type marks and grime, a passenger spilled Coke that made its way in between the seats, door and other areas where it was difficult to fully clean.
From the beginning Jose listened attentively to my objectives and budget. The choices ranged from simple soft wash to full detail. Wow! Who would have thought a place co-​located with a gas station here in town would have so many choices and a full staff? Jose was super accommodating and described the type of wax used to my husband over the phone when I called him about possibly having the suv detailed right then. Many times my husband will wax our cars himself, having learned that so many places use an inferior wax.
We agreed to a full interior cleaning that included vacuuming, shampooing, leather and vinyl cleaning and leather waxing plus exterior wash, tire detail and exterior wax. Jose said it would take less than 2 hours and even offered to drive me home or to an area plaza to wait since I didn’t plan this amount of time without a car. I don’t know if the offer is always made. I typically try to go to car washes during the weekdays if possible to avoid the crowds and was successful in that there was not a long line up today. I arrived on Thursday at about 4:15.
I was called promptly in less than 2 hours and told the car was ready. When we arrived Romero and Florenti were very attentive and asked us to review the car. It looked the best it has in many months! No dog hair, grime or icky Coke between the seats. They even made an area of the leather seats look great that I had tried to clean over the year several times and eventually gave up. The exterior looked great too! My husband had a couple of requests regarding the wax application; Romero and Florenti were quick to take care of these requests. I recommend this car wash and will be back regularly! Thank you!

There is no way I’d come back– unless it is for the sandwiches at the deli.
The outside of my car was clean, (excluding the tires which had black gunk all over it still) but I can get that done for $ 5 at a drive thru place. $ 20 and there was still dog hair, crumbs, and dust all over my car. The inside barely even looked touched. I do a better job when I go to the shell down the street! The frustrating thing was that my car wasn’t all that dirty and I debated doing it myself but decided to let myself relax. But mistake. It’s better to just go to a drive thru and then use the free she’ll vacuums. I uploaded pics.

This review is for the car wash — terrible!!! The front seat was fine so I never thought of checking back seat or trunk. They never vacuumed it at all (see photo). Also asked for jasmine fragrance which they did not do. Paid for a Gold wash and didn’t even get a nickel wash! Only redeeming quality here is their deli — great sandwiches.

I think this place is the worst run carwash in North County. The crew doesn’t function in concert since they’re always doing the wrong things to the wrong cars at the wrong time to facilitate an assembly line. Management is completely detached and absent apparently

They did a good job cleaning my car today

Meh. Typical somewhat disappointing car wash — I guess since I’m used to doing this myself I never feel like others live up to my own version of clean. I feel I overpaid/​they could’ve done better.
I saw my car come out and then I realized I couldn’t find it anywhere and had a small moment of panic. Turns out they ran it through a second time. Well, I’m ashamed to say but this car hadn’t been washed since before our road trip to AZ for Thanksgiving– ouch — so it doesn’t surprise me it needed it.
They missed an interior spot on the windshield which sucks since that’s always my one weak spot with cleaning at home but at least the majority of the car is mostly clean, and even pearl white again. Who knew.

I needed to get my car seats shampooed so I went here to get it done. They suckered me into a detail package. The interior looked pretty good but they didn’t get rid of things that were obviously trash. The outside wasn’t too impressive either. I had to wipe some spots off myself. Pretty crazy. Save your money and go somewhere else!

I have been coming here to have my car washed since moving to the area. Every time they have done a good job and at a fair price. The team that handles the final prep does a great job of seeing that no spots get past them.
The staff in general is professional but not particularly friendly. The waiting areas are comfortable with sofas and easy chairs inside and umbrella covered picnic tables outside. If you’re looking to get a bite to eat for lunch or breakfast, the deli inside makes excellent sandwiches.
They will continue to be my go to car wash.

This Chevron looks older on the outside, but it’s cool. I came here to get my car washed, and there are three levels, from $ 14.99 to $ 25.99.
The stop-​and-​go is really large, and sells some interesting things like natural popsicles and a large variety of wine. The restroom is clean and roomy.
There’s also a «Moonlight Beach Deli & Dogs» inside the stop-​and-​go. The deli sells egg sandwiches, acai bowls, and tuna melts. They also give away free bread. Kudos for conscious capitalism.

Took my daughter’s MB in for a wash on a Sunday morning. They seemed to be asleep on the job on this particular day. They didn’t wipe down the interior and they didn’t vacuum very well either. Had to come home and finish up where they left off.

Thank you, Corinne, for sharing the recycled water information with me. I appreciate the information about filing an incident report as well. As owner, you are able to articulate well your intentions for the business but unfortunately the employees you have are not able or unwilling to carry this out. I assure you, the photos taken are of the same silver car and I will be in this week to file my incident report which was not offered to me previously. Thank you for the timely response.

Huge facility with a car wash and an award winning deli. Convenience store is enormous and has everything you need. Wifi available.
