San D Pups

We can’t say enough about San D Pups. We have used the service several times in the past year and have never been disappointed. Heather is a remarkable and caring young woman. We were very impressed with her poise, confidence, and maturity when we first interviewed her. Heather cares for our three pets, Our Golden Retriever, Jake, Ming, my mother’s Shih Tzu and BJ our old house cat. Jake has a lot of energy and Heather is a perfect match for him. She takes him on long walks and plays with him. Ming has special needs. She’s old and both blind and deaf, but Heather cuddles her and gives her lots of love and attention. Ming loves it! BJ is a little standoffish, but hangs with Heather when she’s here. When Heather cares for our pets, she always sends daily updates and pictures. Recently, Ming was stung by a bee. Unable to reach us by phone, Heather immediately took her to our vet. She stayed with Ming until we got home. She did exactly the right thing and we are so grateful that it was Heather taking care of our pets rather then someone less capable or attentive. We highly recommend Heather and San D Pups.

Heather has now pet sat for us over 10 times. She is excellent, highly trained, and a pet whisperer for sure.
My cat Jane has been sick over the past year, which made it necessary for heather to give her up to 5 pills when we were gone on vacation – multiple times. Jane had no problem taking the medicine from heather, in fact heather is better at giving it to jane than we are! We ran out of pill pockets once while we were gone and jane took the pills right out of heather’s hand, mushed in some food.
my other cat Stella is very skiddish, but she warmed up to Heather quickly.
I completely trust Heather, her expertise, and her level of training. She is compassionate, goes above and beyond making everything neat and tidy and updating us frequently.
She is the best pet sitter we have ever had.

Heather has cared for my boxer Zeek several times. I recently left the country for two weeks, the longest I’ve ever been away from my baby boy, and felt completely comfortable with him in Heather’s care. She sent regular updates on his eating habits (he has issues with colitis), his activities, and sent pics regularly. She is so caring and attentive. She is always willing to go out of her way to make sure Zeek has everything he needs. It’s such a relief knowing I have a safe place for Zeek to go when I need to travel, or just need him walked during a long day work. Heather, you are the best, you have a heart of gold, and I thank you!

Heather is one of the most kind and caring pet sitters there is. She watched our sweet Poochie while we were on vacation for a week. Throughout the week we were away, she sent us updates and kept us informed on how he was doing. It was so comforting to know that someone was caring for and loving him the way that we do. Heather went above and beyond, too, even taking Poochie to her own home when our air conditioning went out so that he would be more comfortable. Heather is knowledgeable, responsible and best of all, so very, very kind. I would highly recommend San D Pups to all pet owners. She was by far the best sitter we have ever had!

You have a right to be informed: Heather Farley is responsible for the death of my 3 year old, Pure Bred Phantom, Minature Parti Poodle (Izzy) as she was stroke by a car while on Heather’s watch on February 22, 2016, as Heather chased after her down a very busy street with a 55 MPH speed limit; Izzy’s death could have been avoided, if Heather had the basic knowledge, understanding of dog behaviors, and proper training as an owner of a Pet Sitting Company. Heather claims Izzy might have been spooked by her Backpack and backed-​up/​wiggled out of her harness after they left my home (Why didn’t Heather just leave her large backpack?). It makes no sense, why Heather did not notice Izzy was nervous and frightened before they walked out of the front door? Why didn’t Heather stop and address Izzy’s fears before they left out the door? Why did she allow Izzy to walk behind her on the walk, when she normally walked alongside her sister (other poodle)? It hurts to know my sweet baby girl was run over because Heather was negligent and lacked basic understanding of recognizing various dog behavior; especially when a key component was fear. I will never understand how Heather allowed Izzy to back-​up and wiggle out of her harness; she must have been pulling Izzy on the leash for Izzy to have backed-​up and wiggled out of it? Why didn’t she just pick up my sweet Izzy or kneel down to reassure Izzy or better yet, remove the backpack that made Izzy feel so uncomfortable? Why did she chase after my frightened girl and not use the recall word? My world was turned upside down by Heather’s ignorance and lack of appropriate care for Izzy. It’s common sense to look and watch for signs of stress and fear and address them prior to a walk. Everyone knows you never chase after a frightened dog and I’d rehearsed command words with Heather, should she need to get my girls immediate attention, which she did not use. SanDPups should not be in the Pet Sitting business
Now my friends and I have to ensure the pain and heartbreak; as we grieving for the loss of my sweet, beautiful baby girl Izzy, who was full of life, love and kisses that melted the hearts of all. I fell in love with Izzy and she brought so much joy into my life and a great companion for my other sweet poodle; they were best friends and played so well together. Research shows dogs grieve and mourn when their companion dies; my other sweet girl watched Izzy’s life come to a tragic end; an accident that could have been avoided, if Heather had just STOPPED and paid attention to Izzy’s behavior of fear and distress. So many people loved Izzy and are heartbroken and in disbelief of what happened, while with a professional pet sitter? Again, an accident Heather should have never let happen!
I received the call from Heather on Monday, February 22, 2016, while I was out of town for work, telling me Izzy was hit by a car and did not survive; 3 years old and 14 pounds; cute as a could be. I had no idea I would kiss Izzy goodbye for the last time on Sunday, Feb. 21^st. My heart breaks that Izzy ran away out of fear from Heather. I’ll never understand why Heather proceeded on a walk, when Izzy was afraid and would not walk with her, unlike other days? Something was terribly wrong and Heather ignored Izzy’s signs!
My heart aches that I hired Heather and trusted her, as she clearly lacks basic training and experience in caring for other people’s dogs, especially dogs that might be frightened. Even without professional training, common sense would direct a person to look for visible signs of fear or disstress and adjust the environment of the dog. I wish I would have never met nor hired Heather Fraley at SanDPups! My sweet Izzy would still be alive! Again, this should have never happened, if Heather was experienced and trained to handle any possible situation correctly, to ensure the safety of every client’s pets. Many people get into the Pet Sitting business because they think it’s a quick way to earn a living! It’s so sad, because pets are four-​legged children and we pay good money to ensure they are cared for, protected and safe, while we work. I’m so incredibly sadden by Heather’s inability to take care of Izzy’s needs on Monday, February 22, 2016. So very sad! Heather says she’s contemplating closing her business and she should because she’s not equipped nor properly trained to handle this highly responsible role of caring for other people’s pets; you never know when a pet might experience anxiety or fear and if you’re in the pet sitting business, you MUST be trained on how to handle any situation, especially the basic ones of at least knowing when a dog is afraid! Accident that could have been AVOIDED!

Heather watched my 2 dogs for 5 days while my husband and I both had to be out of town. She did an amazing job taking care of them. My shar-​pei has special needs and at the time that Heather watched her, she was at her peak of high-​maintenance care — to be specific — she needed 10 different supplements and medicines given to her every day throughout the day.
Heather made sure to take care of my girl just as she would her own animal. She also took the time to make sure both of my dogs got enough exercise and playtime throughout the day and they did not go unattended for more than 1 or 2 hours.
They came back to me happy and healthy and seemed to really enjoy themselves at SanDPups. Heather sent me pictures and updates of my girls everyday. I can’t rave enough about Heather and SanDPups — the best dog sitting and dog walking service in Encinitas and Solana Beach, hands down!

I’m very thankful I found San D Pups to help watch my dog. As many of us pet owners, your pet means so much and want the best and most loving care for them when you are away. I definitely found that with Heather and highly recommend her. I had to go out of town for a couple days and had her come in for 30 minute visits thru the day and over night stays. She was willing to text picture updates thru my trip which always puts you at ease. With such a great experience, I have set up the rest of the month with her. Since moving here in February 2014 my wife and I have gone through 4 different dog walkers/​sitters; we had 2 flake on us, another was coming in and taking the payment left for her but not walking the dogs, and our last one left the business to start a family.
We are extremely grateful for having found Heather and San D Pups! We have 5 little ones, and they can be a handful to walk, but Heather didn’t flinch upon meeting them.
Heather has stepped in for simple afternoon walks, when my wife was recovery from surgery and I needed to stay close by her side, to the most recent, which was 7 days of morning and afternoon walks and feeding and overnight stays, while we were out of town.
With Heather at the helm, in our absence, we are relaxed with the confidence that our little furry babies, and our home, are in good hands.
The only reason not to give Heather a 5 star rating is because then more people will want her services and we’d love to keep her for ourselves!

I recently went out of town and needed doggy daycare for my 4 month old puppy and was very anxious about leaving him somewhere after only having him home with us for about a month. I just recently heard about San D Pups and was happy knowing I could find a reliable source with only days before my trip. After checking with Heather, she happily agreed to take care of him and was very accommodating of my high maintenance pup. The ease and convenience of doing business along with great service that Heather provided will undoubtedly be just a few of the many reasons why I will definitely use her services again and I would not hesitate referring to friends and family. Huck was a very happy camper when he came home. Lastly, I must add that Huck lost his first baby tooth while staying with her and she was so sweet by saving the tooth for us to keep forever!
