I love Dogs on the Run. This is the most trustworthy company. They always do a fabulous job of taking care of my dog and the customer service is of high quality. They really seem to care about my house and dog whenever they help me out. I have recommended them to several family and friends.

Absolutely LOVE Dogs on the Run!!! We usually get Cara, but have had several different folks care for our pets during vacations and hospital stays over the years… all have been wonderful! They address any unanticipated issues (for instance, we got a new pet and right away I went into hospital – Cara made extra visits to help new pet’s anxiety issues/​barking).
My pets don’t do well away from home – my Lab is almost 12 years-​old, so every car ride to her equals «vet» and she nearly strokes out on me. The cat hates his carrier, so transporting him is like a blood sport. The Beagle is a nervous wreck away from her home/what’s familiar. Dogs on the Run limits the stress on our pets by not compounding our temporary absence with the stress of a novel environment. The care givers are great about giving text message/​call updates, so we can just focus on resting and/​or healing. Great people – great service!!!

I really want to compliment and rave about Cassie. Cassie has been walking my dog, Lou, for about 6 months. I had previously been using a friend to check on Lou for me and was a little hesitant about signing up for a service because of the significant cost. However, I could not be more pleased with the service and care Lou is getting from Cassie and I know that Lou loves her.
I am incredibly impressed with her reliability and even more so her care and attention. Just the other week she noticed Lou had a tick and she took care of it for me and then made sure to secure the tick in the event Lou had a reaction and needed to go the vet.
I am so comforted knowing that Lou is being so well taken care of while we are at work. I am sure you have lots of great employees but I have to imagine Cassie is one of your best!

After having Susana pet sit for us the first time, she is now the only person we trust with our pets. We can leave knowing that our cats are actually being taken care of and loved. We get daily updates and can tell when we get home that the cats have been happy and the house is clean! Dogs On a the Run was fast to respond to us and set up a meeting. Susana was always very responsive and eager to meet at your convenience. I definitely felt like this company cares.

I am so happy that I called Dogs on the Run to care for my dog Atticus. I was so nervous about having someone else walk him while I am at work, as I am very protective of my baby. That is, until I met Susana!!! She came over to meet us and hit it off immediately with Atticus. She sends me pictures and updates of their playtime after every visit. It warms my heart to see them having so much fun! I would recommend Dogs on the Run for your pet care needs.

I called Dogs on the Run when we got a puppy. Although I never spoke to the owner, I did receive a prompt call back from our dog walker, Susana. We have been so comfortable with her from the beginning! We could tell that Susana really loved animals and she’s been extremely reliable. I especially love all the texts with pictures that she sends each time she visits. We couldn’t be happier!

My wife and I have been using Dogs on the Run for many years to watch our cats when we travel. April, the owner, has provided us with several outstanding pet sitters over the years. Currently we have Samantha, who is absolutely amazing. She responds promptly to changes in our schedule, our cats adore her and our house always looks great when we return. This is my first Unilocal review, but I feel very strongly about Dogs on the Run and especially about Samantha. You won’t be disappointed.

We moved to Carlsbad a year ago and left behind what we considered to be the world’s best house and pet sitting service. After days of research and numerous phone calls we called April and Dogs on the Run. Within a couple hours we had set up an interview in our home with Nadia. We knew within moments of meeting her that she was going to take great care of our home, 3 dogs and one cat during our week-​long vacation. Nadia proved to be responsible, trustworthy, responsive and followed instructions to the letter. She answered all of our whiney «how are they doing? is everything ok? do you think they miss us?» texts immediately and usually with photos attached! We came home to happy, healthy animals, a clean house, flowers and Prosecco! 100% satisfied and Nadia remains a close family friend.
Fast forward 6 months and we needed overnight care on Thanksgiving day. Nadia has relocated so April sent over another pet-​sitter for us to interview. We didn’t feel instantly comfortable this time and when I called April to tell her she was professional, understanding and set up a meeting for us with Sam. Sam was incredible, the service was outstanding and we were only charged an additional $ 10 for the holiday. This time we returned to a clean house, happy animals and a freshly baked cake! I mean, seriously, who does that? Amazing!
We just booked another overnight with DOTR and this time we met Sarah who immediately gave us the peace of mind we’ve come to expect from Dogs on the Run. My animals are everything to me and I can’t recommend Dogs on the Run highly enough.

Moving to San Diego from my house in a less expensive part of California with a dog can be very frightening. Especially when you have to move into a one bedroom to afford living in such a beautiful place ha ha. That’s how I found dogs on the run. My dog Loki has always been used to having a yard and now has to adjust to living in an apartment.
After never having to use a dog walker, I was a bit skeptical about how the whole thing works. My first phone call was with someone who I would assume is the owner. She actually showed genuine concern for my situation, and hooked me up with an amazing dog walker. Now this dog walker has become an extended member of my family and my dog loves her.
If for some reason you are in the same situation and looking for a company that can take care of your fur child… I can assure you this is the one. They are professional, have great pricing that’s affordable, and have made my transition here to beautiful San Diego super easy.
I cannot thank this company and my dog walker Patty enough for how much they have help me get settled here. Thank you thank you thank you thank you!

I really can’t say enough great things about Dianne and Dogs on the Run. Professional and wonderful service from start to finish. We are very particular about our dog sitters with our aging beagle, and Dianne more than met our expectations. Brando was well loved, well cared for and treated like family. All my worries were washed away with Dianne’s thoughtful and thorough care. If you’re serious about finding that home away from home for your pooch, you’ve found it at Dogs On The Run.

We had the occasion this past weekend to use a pet sitter. I found Dogs On The Run in a round-​about way, and am so thankful I did! Sarah, our sitter, came to the house the day before we were to leave to meet the 4-​legged family and go over instructions, etc. Our pets are family and I HATE leaving them when we go out of town. I was immediately put at ease by Sarah’s confident and kind demeanor. My dogs liked her immediately and the cats, who normally keep to themselves, even came out to greet her. I am a firm believer that animals possess a sense that we do not — knowing whether or not to trust a person. The fact that they were immediately comfortable with Sarah made me comfortable with her! Sarah kept us informed during the weekend as to what the animals were doing and their activities. I very much appreciated this.
This was just a short weekend getaway but we will definitely use DOTR again! I am very interested in their walking services, as well. So thankful I found this service!

I couldn’t be happier about the amazing service we received with Jo Dee and Dogs on the Run! Professional, super friendly, and our dogs were so stoked to have company while we were running around at Lego Land for two days! I wish we lived in the area to have these guys as our permanent dog walkers. I highly recommend Dogs on the Run for any poochie services.

This is a great company. I always feel at ease when I leave my dogs with them. I have been using them for a over a year now. The owner, April is awesome and makes sure the client is always happy. They even do overnights which is awesome when you have 3 dogs

Dogs On The Run is amazing! I called Dogs On The Run last minute because the person we hired to watch our dog fell through. Dogs On the Run got back to me quickly and paired us up with Roxanne who was phenomenal. Roxanne went out of her way to meet me before hand at a park (her suggestion!) so that she could get to know our dog. I really appreciated this since I am an overly attached puppy mama. I was nervous about letting someone else take care of my dog because she is a husky, and thus, very high energy, but Roxanne was awesome. She helped our dog stay calm, fed her dinner, took her on walks, gave her treats, and texted me pictures of our dog when I was getting ready and a little nervous about how our beloved pooch was doing. Thank you so much Dogs On The Run!

I was so bummed when I moved from Hillcrest to Carlsbad I couldn’t take the team at Paws to Pavement with me… I had been using their dog walking svcs for years and was always impressed with their level of service and dedication to Grizzly, my 12 lb Morkie.
Luckily I found Dogs on the Run when I got here… After some miscommunication trying to get a visit scheduled… I am so happy to have Cara and her back up Paige (and Alexa too) taking care of my little man. They came over for an initial visit we both were immediately comfortable with them. Since Oct Cara has been visiting daily and Grizzly LOVES her… I think the few days I have stayed home, he hasn’t been too happy as it wasn’t the trade he wanted… Thanks Cara (Paige and Alexa too) for allowing me to know that he safe and happy when he is with you!

Very disappointing. I reached out to Dogs on the Run purely by the glowing reviews here on Unilocal.I hate to write a negative review on anyone unless it’s warranted. My guess is our situation may have been an isolated one but still wanted to share some feedback.
We reached out to the organization to get an overnight sitter for our 10 year old dog. We are new to the North County area and sadly had to leave our fabulous long-​term sitter back down in San Diego. My first impression of Dogs on the Run was great. I had a quick call from the owner and she put me in touch with a sitter in our area who was also quick to reach out to us to set a time to come meet. Day of our meeting she texted me and said she’d be there an hour earlier then we had agreed upon which unfortunately didn’t work for us since we aren’t even home from the work day until later in the evening. Odd, but okay maybe just miss heard me.
Meeting was fine but the sitter never seemed comfortable and was a little short. She had forgotten the contract so prior to leaving she said she’d email it over in the morning or that evening and gave me her card. About five minutes after her leaving I sent her a text saying thank you and that we looked forward to her help in the next few weeks. No response until hours later at about 9:30 p.m. …fast forward. No email with a contract. I sent her a follow up email. No response. I called her and left her a voicemail. No response.
I don’t know about you but our dog is basically one of our children and if I can’t get a response then there is no way I’m allowing you to stay in our house without us present or be responsible for one of our family members.
I’m truly shocked and disappointed considering all the reviews on here were so stellar. I’m hoping this was an isolated incident and maybe that particular sitter had some personal issues.

I went away for 2 weeks over the holiday and Paige came to see my pup twice a day. She was an absolute god send! Took such good of my boy, even my neighbors commented on how awesome she was. So glad to have found this service!

DOTR consists of the most fantastic, professional, caring, polite, and genuine people that one could leave their best friend with.
I called last minute needing boarding for 4 nights, 5 days for my 4 y/​o Siberian Husky. April (owner) called me back immediately and after reviewing the logistics of their services I had a phone call almost immediately from Dianne (whom is in my area) regarding boarding. As I am a notorious procrastinator and that they handled everything within a 2 hour time span I am completely in awe.
Dianne is very kind, and immediately comforting/​easy to get along with (for both me and my dog), we did a meet a greet at her home with the pups. Unfortunately, about 4 days prior she had a family emergency and was unable to take my dog in. I must mention this b/​c to me she still went above and beyond that night to provide information about what services DOTR could provide.

I still had my doubts and panic ensued. However, Kelli, one of their Pet Care Coordinators called me the next morning to do whatever was needed to make sure I still had boarding for my dog as planned.
Kelli, April (DOTR), all went out of their way to accommodate me. This included Kelli coming to meet my dog at my home that afternoon, whom took too her very well.

Kelli was amazing and comforting and loving, I would leave my pups with her anytime. For a dog that typically had a separation anxiety I’m pretty sure she was sad she wasn’t with Kelli when I got got home.

I won’t use any other company but DOTR again. Thank You so very much

Really a tremendous service.
We have two large dogs, both greater than 130 lbs and have used a variety of dog walking/​sitting/​kenneling services over the past 10 years of their lives. April provided a top-​notch, no pressure introduction to their services, the way they operate, and within a day of reaching out to her, our dog-​sitter Jonathan gave us a call to set up a meet-​and-​greet with the pups.
Our dogs had no trouble accepting Jonathan as someone they trust. In general, they’re guarded for the first 4 or 5 times meeting someone but they accepted Jonathan as one of the pack on his first visit. We worked out the best times for the dogs to be visited and Jonathan was very accommodating of what we’ve seen work well for the pups in the past. So far, so good.
Jonathan did a fantastic job while we were gone for the 14 days. He really couldn’t have done more. The pups were walked every day, their areas were cleaned regularly, and he provided a ton of TLC for our little guys each and every day. He sent us pictures, videos, and a cool time-​lapse of a few of the visits.
When we came home, the house was clean and in great shape. There’s no doubt he respected our privacy while we were gone and we wouldn’t hesitate to use Dogs On the Run again, especially if Jonathan is able to sit for us.

Really can’t sing the praises of this place enough.
After having some frustrations finding an overnight service to watch our dog (an adorable and well-​mannered 22 lbs rat terrier rescue), I found DotR and dropped them a quick call to see if they were free.
Diane B. called back within an hour, confirmed she was free during the dates, and gave us a price estimate all on the first call — very good business sense.
We brought our dog over for a meet & greet so she could get a feel for him and so we could inspect her house /​yard. It was immediately clear that Diane was a great dog lover and knew her way around a lot of breeds. We signed the paperwork that night and figured we lucked out.
What we didn’t know was exactly how lucky we were in finding DotR.
Diane texted us a couple of pics ever day with updates on our dog and the area in general (which was very nice, considering the heatwave, fires, etc.). It was a really welcome gesture, and it really made us feel like our dog was being taken care of.
I’d recommend DotR to anyone in the Carlsbad area without reservation. They’re even a bit cheaper from some of the other non-​kennel boarding solutions, and they clearly care about the health and happiness of your pooch. :)
