As a graphic artist, I frequently take a step back and try to look through other people’s eyes. I have built an entire career with my artistic vision, interpreting and presenting information for other people to see clearly.
The tables turned after I was bit by a poisonous spider whose venom caused damaged to my optic nerve. Suddenly I was the person needing visual reinforcement. I turned to Unilocal to locate an exceptional doctor and found Dr. Hutchinson.
I was reluctant to accept the fact that my eyes are no longer ¹⁰⁄₂₀ and need prescription glasses to see all of the details around me. It took me over a month after a vision test to return and place my order. The enthusiastic staff at Pacific View Eyecare center helped me pick out frames that work with my features that I feel good about wearing.
These glasses arrived and it was not the fairy-​tale ending that I had hoped for. I tried using them but something was amiss so I returned for a fitting. Doctor Hutchinson brought me in the back and performed a myriad of tests to make sure that everything was perfect and discovered that an error had been made. They are replacing my lenses with no questions asked.
Unexpected situations can bring out the best or the worst in people, and Pacific View Eyecare center handled this situation with grace. I am glad that I turned to my helpful fellow Unilocal friends to help me select an eyecare center.

Been going here for 3 years and have nothing but good things to say about the entire staff. Always friendly, and accommodating. Never have problems getting an appointment.

I’m a professional Airline Pilot. Vision is of the utmost importance. I have my glasses and sun-​glasses customized and altered by Pacific View Eyecare to give me the perfect vision inside the cockpit and looking out the wind screen. They do great work and are the best eyecare center I have ever used.

Excellent service! Everyone was so friendly and I got seen right away! I just went in to get my glasses adjusted, but Mandy fixed them perfectly and quickly! Would highly recommend this place!

Amazing! The girls are so enthusiastic and knowledgable about what glasses fit your face! That are sweet and spend as much time with you as you need. My new glasses are amazing and I can see so much better!

Absolutely DO NOT go to Dr. Hutchinson for CRT lenses! He told me he could fit me in 2 fittings and that if he couldn’t I could get a refund, neither of which were true. He kept my $ 1,300 even though he didn’t provide me with lenses that fit properly. Read the fine print before you sign any contracts!

Great staff and Dr. Hutchinson is excellent. We have been his patients for about 20 years now and the service has been consistently very good.

What I like most at this place is the staff. Dr Tony takes great care of his patients and the staff are all on the same page: deliver top notch service. They have very high end equipment to ensure that our eyes are in the best health. AND it’s nice that we have the option to upgrade service (e.g field of vision tests and retinal photos) which I only do on occasion.
My recommendation for the dispensary is to have a nice work station for the service rep to work. It currently looks cluttered and not ergonomic or comfortable. I would like to see one of those hydraulic tables that can rise to work with customers while standing. That would be cool wouldn’t it? It would match the progressive care delivered in the back!

Dr. Hutchinson and his staff, particularly Katherine, treated my elderly father with such respect and kindness throughout the entire process of examining his eyes and fitting him for new lenses and frames this past week. They are the consummate professionals. If you are in need of an excellent optometrist surrounded by a kind and caring staff, please go see Dr. Hutchinson. They are also experts in medical billing and Medicare!

Dr. Hutchinson and his staff are amazing! They always make you feel so welcomed and like a member of the family. This was my third time in 2 years and I’m always impressed with every aspect of my visit.

I have gone to Dr Hutchinson for years. He has been great on both the annual exams as well as the unusual issues I have had. His staff is great. They a do a great job with sizing and measuring for glasses. I have recommended his office to several co-​workers.

I really like this eye doctor. Every time I have an appointment I am seen right away. My yearly exams move right along, and I am out of there in 20 minutes. My doctor and his staff are all friendly and personable. I would recommend this office to anyone.

I love this office and all the staff. I know that I am getting a very thorough exam when I go, and the friendliness of everyone there makes the visit a pleasant one. At one point I was concerned that I might be paying more for my glasses, but I found out I am not. I actually took my prescription to Walmart one year, and the tech there explained that I had been wearing the very best lenses and that I would not be happy with cheaper ones. The price quoted was similar to PV Eye Care.

My wife and I have been going to Dr. Hutchinson for a couple of years now. At first i was getting disposable contacts and yearly exams only… when one day Dr. Hutchinson mentioned that i was a perfect candidate for this procedure called CRT (Corneal Refractive Therapy) as i did not want to go through Lasik or any actual surgery. I passed on it the first time around and continued to get my pleasant service for my contact lenses.
I thoroughly enjoy going to his office and i have absolutely no complaints. So back to the CRT, at the beginning of this year i decided it was time to ditch the contacts as i have been wearing them for 10 years and hated dealing with dry eyes and losing them when i am out surfing. As i was not willing to undergo surgery, i opted for the expensive «nightly» contacts of CRT which would allow me to have corrected vision for the whole day… the only catch is i would have to sleep in them every night.
Without going into too much detail, as you can read up on it or better, yet go see Dr. Hutchinson, the contacts must still be worn daily (actually nightly) and can be slightly irritating at first and if the proper handling and cleaning instructions are now followed, since then i have gotten fairly used to them and they actual make me sleep better. They shape (form) your eyes during the night as you sleep and you have corrected vision throughout the following day with no contacts in… no joke! And they work excellent if you remember to wear them every day; i have something like 20:15 vision now.
The only downsides i see are the cost, slight discomfort, and the slight halos i get at night… but all of these are the same as i hear you get from Lasik without the risk of surgery and CRT is completely reversible (so they say). So, for what i wanted out of the deal, i got it exactly! I was also informed of all of this prior to signing on the dotted line which is very much appreciated.
Bottom-​line, i am a very pleased customer of Pacific View Eyecare, Dr. Hutchinson, and their entire awesome staff!

My experiences here have been lack– luster. I wouldn’t recommend this office to my friends. The Doctor is super chilly n just bland, although I do think he knows his stuff, he doesn’t act like he actually cares about you at all. He really packs his patients in, too, so you don’t really get enough attention. I’ve never seen him smile, which is just lame. His wife, Kathy, seems like a social climbing, busy-​body. I believe I saw her re-​gifting the gorgeous poinsettia plants that I saw delivered to their office, from the Ecke’s YMCA. Wow. I’ve also overheard her talking to a few employees in a very condescending tone. Luckily, most times when I’ve been in there, she’s nowhere to be seen. The only thing they have going for them, is their employees. Penny and Erica instantly put me at ease. When my appointments come up, I’m actually excited to chat with Penny. She always inquires about my family and remembers all the details of our last chat. I will continue to go here because they accept both of my insurance plans, but I suppose most places do.

We were faithful customers for a few years, never missed an appointment and genuinely liked everyone at the office. It was even nice seeing our names on a whiteboard as we entered the office. «Welcome…» It was welcoming. Dr. Hutchinson was very nice and courteous, and even helpful at first… seemed liked we finally found an eye doctor we really liked.
We went in for our normal yearly checkup and everything went well. Dr. Hutchinson recommended us to change contacts, so he said we need to come back in, try out the contacts and see how they work. We went for a followup appointment for the contacts. There was some dryness and we received a sheet of paper on how to address dry eye. We didn’t receive any treatment, drops, nothing. Just a sheet of paper telling us what to do. We left thinking all we needed to do was follow the sheet and we would be fine.
A few days later, I received a bill in the mail from Dr. Hutchinson. I figured there might have been a mistake, we had no appointment, just a contact lens follow up. So I called up the office. The receptionist was very nice, and even though I had an issue with the billing, she was very respectful and courteous. We couldn’t figure out
what happened, so she offered to have Dr. Hutchinson call me and try to clear things up. I thought that was great, he is a really great guy, I’m sure he can clear things up for me.
Boy was I WRONG. I explained my issue with the bill. It seemed that we were being billed for a follow up contact visit. He explained that it was a dry eye issue and therefore a medical issue and it was billed as a medical issue. Apparently, at some point in time our followup turned into a medical appointment. I disagreed and said we came in for the contacts not a dry eye issue. At that point he completely changed and became very rude and argumentative, and that is putting it lightly. I won’t go into details, but I just ended the conversation by saying «I’m not going to argue with you» I’ll pay the bill and ended it.
This whole review really isn’t about the money. They constantly tried to make us buy stuff from their office and no where else. We declined and there was some pressure to buy stuff, but they never made us buy anything we didn’t need. Its a business, I understand, so its not a problem.
This is more about how UNPROFESSIONAL and RUDE Dr. Anthony Hutchinson was in handling our issue. I have no problem paying for services performed. I don’t even mind paying a little more for the personal and courteous service of a professional that is going to give me better service.
If you are looking for an eye doctor, please take this review to heart and don’t bother coming here. There are a lot more professional and courteous doctors out there.

Dr. Hutchinson only deals in off-​brand contact lenses instead of my old standby Acuvue II, so I thought he was a sell-​out at first. But when I asked about it, he explained that the manufacturer has some return/​exchange policy that’s friendly neither to doctors nor patients, so he doesn’t deal with them. I respect a dude that stands up to the corporate overlords. Plus I can see. Right on.
