I love Dr. Zeus. She is the best dentist and very knowledgeable. The 2 receptionists are very rude and very inefficient so you have to get passed that.

Let me start off by saying: the actual dentist work is great. The dentists are very knowledgable and know what they’re doing.
However, the receptionists are incredibly rude. I booked an appointment to have a filling refilled. After an «assessment» I was told that there was no more time to do the actual filling and would have to come back to get that done. They then said I should have known and that assessments are normal. No where during my appointment phone call was I told I’d have to come back. Instead of apologizing, the receptionists copped an attitude and behaved very defensive and condescending towards me. This was most upsetting because classes were messed, work was missed, and schedules were messed up. I have never heard of separate assessments being necessary before a filling nor was this specific need ever communicated. Now it will be weeks before my filling can be refilled. Makes me wonder if this assessment is a way to extract more money out of the consumer as I have never had this be normal protocol at any dentist office I have visited before. They never apologized for the inconvenience. Please find receptionists with better communication skills, more empathy, and less attitude.

I’ve been with this office for 8 years now. It is the most loyal I have been to any establishment of any sort. I appreciate the great advice I’ve gotten from 3 different dentists here including Dr. Haynes. When I need work beyond preventative they always give me options and don’t push expensive things I don’t need. I really really appreciate the front office staff. They take the time to check my insurance and let me know what is covered and what is not before I schedule any work. In 8 years I’ve never had problems with their billing unlike other places.

So happy I found this dentist office. Dr. Haynes is so gentle and thorough, and I feel comfortable during every visit. The whole office is very nice, professional, and honest — they don’t pressure or push unnecessary procedures on you. After I found this dentist office, I can truly say I look forward going to the dentist now!

I’m not really a fan of dentists, and usually prefer to avoid them, but Dr. Haynes was wonderful! He’s very nice and we had a light conversation during the cleaning. Afterwards, he told me that I have three areas that are on the cusp of needing fillings. He said to be sure to floss that area really well and that in 3 months he would take more pictures to see if it was getting worse, but if it stayed the same, then no fillings were needed right now. I appreciate a dentist who is conservative and not trying to sign me up for unnecessary procedures. Plus, now I’m going to be very careful with that area!
In addition, while we were talking he mentioned the hereditary nature of teeth, and how I should thank my parents and, «if you decide to have kids, you’ll likely pass on those great teeth to them.» We hadn’t discussed children at all and it turns out I don’t plan on having children. I thought it was amazing that he didn’t assume I wanted kids, like most people do, and that he didn’t even have to choose his words carefully — he just understood that people may or may not have kids! To me this indicates he’s caring and respectful of others and their opinions. It puts me at ease.
At the front desk they have calendars you can flip through to schedule your next appointment, and even post cards for reminders. They called me the week before my appointment to see if I was interested with switching my appointment to 45 minutes earlier so another patient could take mine, but they made it clear that I could keep my appointment at the same time if I wanted. I loved that they were trying to be accommodating for their patients without being pushy to others.
Oh — Note that there’s not really a sign on their door. On the corner of the building it just says «Dentist» and then around the corner a door that says «Entrance.» I was a little confused when first going in, but you can see what I mean in the picture. It’s a nice little simple office.
I was impressed and had a great appointment! I’m already scheduled for my next cleaning in 6 months!

Great dentist. Everyone is friendly. Dentists are very transparent about what needs to be done or work that is more cosmetic /​optional.
I felt comfortable 100% of the time during each visit.

Dr. Haynes has been our dentist probably as long as we’ve been in the Bay area. He and his staff are always efficient, professional, and thorough. I have no reservations in giving his practice my full recommendation.

Dr. Amani is great. I had my first and hopefully my last root canal yesterday. He is the best dentist out there. I wouldn’t mind having another root canal if it’s done by him. I didn’t feel any pain at all. He gave me a couple of ibuprofen and a script for a stronger pain pill after the procedure which i don’t feel like I’ll be needing. I went to work the same day didn’t really have any downtime. I would like to thank him for saving my tooth.

This is my 2^nd time going to this dentist and I love it! It was fast, didn’t waste my time, and he did my own teeth cleaning! Its a little crowded for parking but everything else was great!

Been coming here for maybe 3 years now and been very happy with their services. I usually come here for check ups and cleaning, and cavity filling if need be. I like coming here because I usually don’t have time to get off work to go to the dentist, but this place is open on Saturday! There aren’t much dentist offices that open on weekends, so it was a real plus to come here. I’ve been really lucky to get an appointment on very short notice. Usually you would need to make an appointment a month of two in advance if you want a weekend appointment. I usually don’t plan that far ahead, so they would put me on the cancellation wait-​list, so that if anyone cancels they would put me in their spot. Their staff really tries hard to get you in if you explain your situation to them. They are also very helpful with helping you with your insurance.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Haynes for almost 4 years and have been very happy the entire time. Dr. Haynes is one of the best dentists I’ve ever had. He does the cleanings himself, and is very patient, thorough, and honest. Highly recommended!
I’ve also had a root canal done here (from an oral surgeon he referred), as well as gotten their whitening trays, which have worked well and are very easy/​non-​intrusive to use. It is also a few blocks from work so it is very convenient for me to come in. They are generally very fast and I never feel like I’m being sold on anything. Dr. Haynes definitely has my best interests in mind.

I want to start of by saying that I was a patient of Dr. Haynes’ office for at least 10 years and for my routine cleanings I never really had a problem, except a few excessive waits at times. However my recent experience at his office has caused me to search (and find) a new dentist.
I recently had one of his associates preform a deep cleaning on just one quadrant of my mouth, within two weeks of this procedure I had a major infection in a tooth and that lead to a root canal. Dr. Haynes’ office referred me to a specialist and when I went to see her she determined that I needed a root canal in tooth #15. We scheduled it for a week later and I did a course of antibiotics, as the pain started to subside I was thinking that she has diagnosed the wrong tooth, so I got a second opinion and sure enough it was really tooth #14 that needed the root canal. I went ahead and had that done by the person that I went to for the second opinion, but scheduled my appointment for the build-​up and crown with Dr. Haynes’ office.
As I would be traveling overseas I was in a bit a time crunch and I wanted to at least have the temporary crown before I left. I made two appointments (I certainly knew it would take two). The first to have the build-​up and temporary put on, the second to fit the final crown.
On the day of the first procedure, about 1 hour before my scheduled appointment I received a call from the office asking if I could come in earlier as the procedure «was lengthy». Unfortunately that didn’t work for me since they called and basically needed me to come immediately, so we kept the original appointment time. When I arrived I expressed my concern to the receptionist and she had empathy about the wrong tooth diagnosis, root canal, etc. I then was put into the chair and Dr. Amani came in to do the procedure. He started by asking who had preformed the root canal and I told him my «story» and that I had the specialist send back the information. He then looked in my file and sure enough all the info was there. I proceeded to tell him that I was not very happy with the specialist that they referred me to (fact that she had diagnosed the wrong tooth and also was going to charge 30% more than the one I ended-​up going to) — Dr. Amani proceeded to make up a bunch of excuses for her — which I found completely unprofessional and unnecessary.
Dr. Amani then told me that we would be doing a temporary filling and that my tooth could possibly crack from this procedure. I told him that I scheduled for a build-​up and temporary crown. He said «yes, but you didn’t schedule enough time for that, and we called you to have you come in earlier». I explained that indeed they called an hour before my appointment and that was unacceptable. So now I was going to have to have a temporary procedure just because of their scheduling error? Dr. Amani didn’t really seem to care. At this stage I decided that there was no way I was going to have an unnecessary temporary procedure just so that I could «fit into their schedule». So I told him that I would be finding another dentist who could do the work in the proper fashion.
I did find one (she is fantastic) and she saw me the next day. She actually affirmed that I made a very good decision to not allow a temporary filling as there was a high probability that the tooth would have cracked while I was out of the country.
It is sad that Dr. Haynes doesn’t really see patients very much any more — by having me go to his incompetent and fairly arrogant associate he just lost two customers (yes I do think that dental patients are customers — since we certainly have choices).
Neither my partner or I will be returning to his office.

This office ROCKS!!! Such amazing customer service from the doctors and receptionists. They are always honest and eager to work with your insurance.
It can be hard to get an appointment, but get on their cancellation list. It is WORTH IT. I made the mistake by going to another dentist because they were booked and I absolutely regret that decision.
What a great team that make such a comfortable dental experience for their customers.

I was a patient here for 4 years and am sad to be moving out if the area because I won’t be able go here anymore! I got 2 root canals and felt well taken care of. The staff is warm, sweet and competent. I saw Dr. Haynes and Dr. Seuss over the years and both were lovely.

Dr. Amani was knowledgeable and didn’t try to sell me anything, telling me that the teeth whitening I was interested in could easily just be bought over the counter, as their whitening isn’t insurance covered and is expensive. Place is close to my work so I’ll be coming for my twice annual cleanings. The staff is very friendly as well. Wish the office was a little cooler inside, but small complaint. They took me in early and gave a pretty thorough check up with good recommendations/​suggestions as I was being examined for how to improve my teeth, which I also appreciated.

This was my second time with Dr. Haynes. I usually get Dr. Z or Dr. Amani. The first time Dr. Haynes did my exam and cleaning, I thought I was in big trouble because he was silent the entire time. I thought uh-​oh. This can’t be good. But in fact, it was quite the opposite. No news is good news. He’s just a quiet professional individual. He was gentle and thorough — two qualities that all great dentists should possess. He meticulously went through each set of teeth a few times. He was so gentle I was almost lulled to sleep. That’s a good thing!
Dr. Amani is super-​nice. Throughout my appointment, he showered me with compliments on my «white teeth» and «straight smile.» Really? They are? I almost stopped believing him because it seemed a bit much, but I should just enjoy it while I was there.

Dr. Haynes was so gentle with my cleaning that I didn’t even realize when he’d started/​was done, and I was surprised when my appointment was over. Compared to my previous dentists, this was a completely different experience.
The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because I would have preferred some more vigorous polishing, because when I left my teeth weren’t as white as I’d hoped. As they say, «no pain, no gain.»

Dr. Amani is the best (dentist) I’ve ever had. He has gentle hands, a positive outlook and gives an absolutely meticulous cleaning. I work nearby, but would travel across the Bay to see this guy.
The front desk assistants are also wonderful. They try hard to work with your insurance (we all know what a raging B that can be…) and don’t mind taking extra time to explain your benefits.
The entrance and parking are in the back of the building.

Called yesterday to make an appointment for a routine checkup and cleaning as a new patient. The person who answered the phone was great — friendly and very helpful, and I was able to score an appointment for the very next day.
When I got there today, there was plenty of street parking and I was again greeted by very friendly staff. I didn’t have to wait at all and my appointment started right on time. The dentist, I think her name was Dr. Christina, was wonderful. She walked me through everything she was doing and she did a lot of extra little checkup procedures that my previous dentist didn’t do (checking all my gums, the sides of my tongue, etc.).
Very happy I’ve found my new dentist. Would recommend to anyone looking for a new dentist, even if you don’t live in Emeryville, I would say it’s worth a little driving for this service.

I finally decided to go to a dentist so I made sure to Unilocal one.
Getting here wasn’t hard although I had hard time finding the place because the building didn’t have any name on it… unless I just totally missed it.
Dentist was awesome and very honest. like it.
Have already told hubby to go make appt. :o)
