I was walking around here after my dinner. I found a few boba tea places, but there were lines, and I was too impatient. As I was about to leave, saw the boba tea offering at this bakery store. Didn’t try any of the bakery, but they look pretty good. Noticed after dinner time, they had a specials on some of the day old bakeries that many people were buying. Anyway, I wanted some sort of boba tea. Their menu was basic, so I just got a passioni fruit with black tea and boba drink. I got the large one for $ 4.25 i think. Size wise, it was a good size as I’m still working on it as I’m writing this review. It’s been about 2 hours, but I think i just had too much to eat earlier. The flavor was good as it’s not watered down(many cheap boba places would water down their tea, which I hate). It’s not very sweet, but just enough for flavor. The boba is chewy, but in a good way as it’s not overcooked or undercooked. My only complaint is that they don’t do the top seal that the true boba tea should have. They have this round top like they use at the 7 – 11 slushy drink. I’m not sure why it’s the dome shaped round top for this, but I would like far better if it’s the sealed plastic top that boba tea were originally made.

The bottom line with this place: a good place for bubble tea and something sweet after dinner, but don’t expect miracles. I came here with some friends after we hit up some noodles for dinner. My friends got bubble tea and really enjoyed it and I ordered a coconut milk shake. The milkshake was mostly ice, not very sweet, but pretty good once the ice melted. I was, in the end, very glad that it was so light, but disappointed that it wasn’t what I thought I was ordering. I would probably come back here again to try their bubble tea or maybe give one of their cake slices a try. But, I was overall sort of neutral about this place. Not terrible, but not great.

This bakery is pretty nice. Everything is put out together nicely. Although there aren’t that many seats, who can blame them? Most bakeries are like that. The buns are delicious. The drinks are okay. The cakes made here are wonderful. I absolutely love the designs on their cakes, so I recommend coming here to buy birthday, mother’s day, father’s day cakes, you name it. To top it all off, the staff are friendly and kind. Prices are reasonable as well.

My favorite all time Chinese pastry is the pineapple bun stuffed with the custard inside. Usually sold out at my favorite Chinese bakery and not always found at others. After getting dinner at Lao Bei Fang down the street, we stopped in and to my luck they still had this bun I always look out for. Based on that single pastry, I would say I would stop back in here again. The bun was nice and soft, and a nice outer«pineapple» layer, and they weren’t skimpy on the filling. It’s a pretty small shop with a small seating area and appeared to be pretty popular with the locals as well since it was packed when we went in.

Not a bad Chinese bakery, has your typical array of baked goods and drinks. The place is full of locals, and honestly most of them get a small coffee and sit around tables and read newspapers or talk daily gossip. The bakery was pretty standard and the coffee was on the sweet side. Definitely not a place for a coffee connoisseur, but if you want a dependable, dingy place to read a newspaper and feel like a local, this would be the place to do it.

Came here for coffee, the staff was friendly. Seems to be your typical Asian bakery. No vegan options, but I’ve come to expect that and don’t hold it against them. The interior does seem cleaner than most other Asian bakeries I’ve been to, and I believe there’s small amounts of seating avail.

88 Bakery is a small little Chinese owned bakery in Elmhurst. They make a variety of buns, cakes, and some sandwiches. Their bubble tea is okay but their coffee kinda stinks. Their coffee often leaves a nasty sour after taste in my mouth. Most of their buns are pretty good. The red roast pork buns are actually red here unlike some other Chinese bakeries where it comes brown looking. The hot dogs in their hot dog buns are too salty for my taste. Egg custards are pretty well made here. It’s not too runny. Red Bean buns are also tasty and large too. The coconut with cream bun is my Uncle’s favorite. If you like coconut shavings on your bun with cream, go for it. All of the buns here are soft and fluffy. After a 30 second microwave re-heat when you take them home, the buns(especially the red roast pork) taste delicious. Verdict — Everything is fairly priced. Nothing is expensive here and service is great. Elmhurst train station is just down the block. It’s a good location on Broadway. I just wished they made a better cup of joe.

As you walk in remember to push not to pull the entrance door, the bakery is always filled with local patrons, who orders 1 coffee & sit there for hours on end :). The coffee is always stale & the macarons taste old, the only reason I come to this bakery is strictly for the Steamed Chicken and Shiitake Mushroom Bun, it’s the size of a Big Mac & packed with chicken, mushrooms & vegetables how can you go wrong. The actual bun is extremely soft, every bite is a explosion of flavors in your mouth, all this for under $ 1.50. Try to get here before 3pm, they always sell out of the chicken one. FYI the Steamed Chicken and Shiitake Mushroom Bun is marked with a red dot on the bun!

we ordered a cake here for my brother’s birthday and they charged us for $ 25. And when we ordered it they said we didn’t have to pay anything when we came to pick it up. A week later, today, we came to pick it up. The guy packaged the cake up all nicely and then when he handed me the cake he said we had to pay $ 5 extra. Excuse me? So I asked him why and the rest of the coworkers were looking for the cake book to check prices and they said the person calculated it wrong. Well it was their fault and they’re telling me to pay. I didn’t bring money cause I wasn’t expecting to pay. And so I was saying that it was unfair that they were telling me to pay for their mistake. What kind of service is this? And I was speaking English and they didn’t speak English and the girl next to her was just waving her hand to the girl saying no no no to just forget it. And she asked me if I still wanted the cake. Uh. It’s my brother’s birthday today. And we paid $ 25 for it. And they asked if we still wanted the cake? And the flavor was supposed to be green tea. It is not green tea -.- I don’t think they should have made me pay when it was a mistake on their part. They even called us in the middle of the week to tell us the picture wouldn’t fit and we asked to change it and that was it. They didn’t tell us we had to pay extra or anything. And honestly I think they should hire people who spoke English because those workers weren’t old. They were teenagers. I would NOT be coming back. — The cake doesn’t even taste good. It’s not even fluffy. It’s stiff. The fruit filling in the middle is hard too. It tasted old. Not fresh made.

I ordered a tea with milk and sat down to drink it. The ladies speak Chinese(Mandarin and English). There is adequate seating. I noticed a decent working bathroom as well. I see all walks of life just having a sip of some hot beverage and eating small pastries. I also see warm buns and other delicious breads available for purchase.

This was the only option close to the subway way where I could sit and rest for a little bit, and get a cheap snack. I wish there were other options nearby. Maybe I just went during a bad time of day(late Sunday), because their selection of pastries weren’t that great. They consolidated all the leftovers onto one tray, but there seemed to be a surplus of hot dog buns. I ended up getting a steamed white bun from the hot side. It wasn’t roast pork, which I expected, but a patty of pork & scallions. It tasted fine and was Huge, for $ 1. But I expected more selection and quality(some of the buns didn’t look so great) for a bakery in a busy section of Elmhurst, and right in front of a bus stop. There’s high turnover in the seating section, but there are a lot of seniors that hang out there. I wish the décor was nicer– sleeker, less ramshackle. Feels like the pastries and everything else was just thrown together.

Great Chinese pastries. Their bubble teas aren’t very good, but their Chinese coffee ain’t half bad. It’s a tiny bakery with a decent pastry selection for its size. There’s seating inside, but it’s limited, and there’s a group of old men who can be rude at times because they act as if you’re stepping into their home and interrupting them. Otherwise, it’s worth it to pop in for some quick pastries.

A very good Chinese bakery along Broadway that I’d recommend checking out. The buns are fresh, the crowds are frequent, so turnover is high. And for the most part, they’re cheap. One of the local favorites are the Egg & Dried Pork Pastry($ 1.00) drizzled with a sweet baked crust and sprinkled with sesame seeds. It’s light, not greasy, crispy and the perfect start to the day. The Hot Dog Bun($ 1.00) is another tasty treat that does not feel second thought. The hot dog is plump and the bread is golden and fresh. Yum! You may find some of the other handful of Chinese bakeries less crowded and possibly cheaper, but these are one of the freshest and on average, very satisfying.

Pretty amazing pork buns here. It was really the only thing I had though, but it was actually the best pork bun I’ve ever had. It was absolutely stuffed with pork. Far too often, I’ve had pork buns that have just a speck of pork in the center, but this pork bun was literally overflowing with pork. Also, the bun itself its super light and fluffy. After visiting New York for just a week, this pork bun really is one of the things I miss about the city.

I live in this neighborhood and visit this bakery on a regular basis. Although this is not a chain bakery, they do have some good stuff, particularly cake roll(with melon, vinilla, coca, and chocolate flavor to choose from) and cha siu bau(bbq pork bun). So far this place has the best cha siu bau in Elmhurst. Nothing special for their milk tea or coffee but not disappointing as well. Staff are nice too.

This is one of the tiny Chinese bakeries in Elmhurst. I come here for the Coconut Cream Bun when I am craving it. I see that they also have bubble tea, but I am not ready to pass up Quickly down the street to give it a try. All of the baked goods are about a dollar, and there selection is not very large because of the small space. They also make custom cakes.

This is not one of those Chinese chain bakery so some of their baked goods doesn’t look as appetizing as it should. So, they kinda taste mundane and there really isn’t anything special about them. They tend to just put their buns wherever they want so the labels(both in Chinese and English) sometimes doesn’t match up. Lotsa senior citizens sit down and chat here so don’t expect to usually find a seat in this bakery.
