Triangle Liquors

Good place because it is always open! It’s that liquor store that closes late just for the last minute drive. Their prices are a little higher than other stores, but they are reliable with the quality!

From the outside, Triangle Liquors looks like a pretty standard liquor store. They carry the typical beers, liquors, and wine you’d find at any ordinary liquor store. And for those items, it’s pretty run-of-the-mill…nothing special.
However, it is unique in that it carries a lot of Asian (mostly Korean) alcohol as well. Here’s a list of stuff I saw inside:
— Korean (Cass, Hite) and Japanese (Sapporo, Asahi) beers. They tend to be crisp and refreshing (aka closer to light beers) but pair well with Asian cuisine.
— Soju, a Korean sweet potato liquor somewhat similar to vodka.
— Makgeolli, a unfiltered Korean rice wine traditionally popular with farmers (though is having a revival of sorts with younger generations)
— Bokbunja, a Korean raspberry wine that is believed to be good for one’s health. It has a sweet, slightly balsamic vingear-​like taste.
— Sake, a Japanese rice wine. While both Sake and Makgeolli are both rice wines, they have very different characteristics.
The prices of those items are reasonable. Items like beer may be a little more on the expensive side of things (I think a 6 pack of Hite or Cass was around $ 7 – 8) but considering they are imported, I guess it’s okay. I haven’t seen many stores selling them anyways.
Also note that items like soju are found not only on shelves but also can be found pre-​chilled in the fridge at the back.
Overall, it’s decent for your average alcoholic beverages. However, if you are looking for something unique or for Asian alcohol, definitely swing by and check it out. I pretty much consider it the liquor section of Lotte Market (which is right next door). It’s the perfect place to find alcoholic beverages that will pair well with whatever Asian cuisine you pick up at Lotte or decide to make at home.
