Rich(I believe he is the owner) knows everything there is to know about whatever it is you drink. His wealth of knowledge is truly impressive and this unassuming store is stocked with some great items. You can hear him moving from customer to customer discussing the Prohibition’s impact on the rye industry and the lingering impact it has today, which champagne is closest to actual CHAMPAGNE(you know, the drink that originated from the Champagne region of France vs. sparkling wine), and recommending cheap but good New Year’s shot-making-material to a young(and perhaps a little slovenly) college guy. He was very engaged with everyone in the store no matter what they were there to buy or how much it looked like they might spend. The shop truly caters to all kinds. He has the«party liquors» like cotton candy vodka, etc. and a pear liquor in a lovely small bottle(for $ 40) that requires 4lbs of pears to make. He has a very solid selection of wines that are grouped intelligently and recommendations are listed on the shelves. He makes it incredibly easy. You would have to really work hard to come out of this shop with a crappy bottle of wine. He even has a refrigerated section with«ultra-premium» selections, but honestly, you don’t need to head in the cooler unless you’re looking for something specific or a gift to «wow» a person who truly knows their wine. He stocks plenty of very good wines at very good prices… minus the self-pretentious snobbery you might encounter in other shops.
