I do love the ice cream but I think it is terrible that they charge an additional $ 1.50 extra to purchase a quart of ice cream not on the shelf. I wait for the summer Key Lime ice cream, I Love it, but refuse to pay the 1.50 over the 6.99 cost just for them to pack. I loved the location in Algonquin before they closed. The Algonquin location always had seasonal flavors available to customers. Elgin location lacks that kind of customer service.

Two of us came here for ICE-CREAM. Was a little baffled at first, since this was my first time @ any Oberweis, but I made my own sundae in a bowl — got the Dark Chocolate and Chocolate Peanut butter with hot fudge/pecans/cheese cake bites. It was Yummy. My friend got the chocolate chip and dark chocolate with Hot Fudge/M&Ms in a nuts dipped Waffle Bowl. The décor of this place was pretty good and I really like couple of tables where they had a chess board in them and we ended up eating ice cream and playing chess. It was overall great experience. Pros: 1. Ice cream is super rich in flavor and super tasty. 2. They have a lot of game boards, so I can definitely imagine myself taking some time here and playing with a bunch of buddies with some ice creams for bites. Cons: 1. The service is SLOW. Like really quite slow when it takes 20 minutes to make some ice cream with only two people in front of us. 2. Spending about $ 10 for my ice cream is really $ 2/2.5 more than actual worth 3. Please have a see-through glass bowl so that we can see how the flavors look adn what each of them contain, so that it’s easier to make the choice. We need samples as well: D

We always have a good experience when visiting this Oberweis. Service can be a little slow when they’re busy, but the ice cream is great.

Everybody craves for Ice Cream. Moved to a new place and looked it up for nice ice cream place and I found Oberweis. Really rich ice creams and their seasonal flavor was good too. I had mango pomegranate, first thought in mind«probably something with essence in it». Took first bite and lost in taste and was so amazing that I had to go for second serving. Regular favorite is Butter Pecan. So fellow suburbanites hop in your car and get to this joint. \m/

I absolutely love this Oberweis location– and Oberweis dairy products in general. There is nothing better than a scoop of Oberweis ice cream to brighten any mood. My favorite flavors are chocolate peanut butter, cookies & cream, and mint chip– plus the sorbet is delicious. I took one star off for this location because my to go order has been wrong twice– minor errors, but still errors. This location is always clean, has a great management, and offers numerous products besides just ice cream.

Edit — I’ve downgraded the rating from 5 to 4 stars because I’ve tried Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, which blew me away. I’ve enjoyed a lot of their other flavors — black cherry(my personal favorite), chocolate, dulce de leche, butter brickle(wish there was a thick caramel swirl though), cookies and cream, vanilla, strawberry, peach, birthday cake, apple strudel, butter pecan, chocolate chip, cinnamon, key lime pie and blueberry pie(needed more pie crust!). Please note that I did not try all these flavors over the span of one year, but that this was done throughout my childhood, adolescence, and young adult years haha. — One quart container is a little under $ 7, and if you buy 3 qts, you get the 4th free. — Their ice cream has high fructose corn syrup though. In comparison to Ben & Jerry’s, Oberweis flavors tends to have less mix-ins unfortunately. On a side note, I’ve also tried their large-sized turtle sundae to-go. My gawd, they gave me a ton of fudge and caramel. And their milkshakes were good, but honestly, I’m more of an ice cream gal.

This ice cream parlor was filled with delicious desserts and fun filled activities that would keep children of my age pooping in their pants due to excitement! The ice cream was quite yummy and cold! It’d be a great snack on a sunny warm day, but to bad I went at night! The only down part was that when we came in, the table that we chose to sit at had melted ice cream left on it. Besides that, I’d love to go there again whenever I’m in Chicago.

Great ice cream and shakes! I came here and had the chocolate marshmallow ice cream with sprinkles. The cholate ice cream is light and not heavy like a lot of chocolate ice cream. I wish you could taste more marshmallow in it though. Have games you can play while your eating your ice cream such as chess, old miad, go fish, candyland, jenga, etc. so of course we played some chess while we were waiting for our movie to start… great time killer. I always get the little cow spoon when I go there… i mean its just cute so why not. This was the first place that made me pay for it. It was only 45 cents… I was going to just say no but my friend said he’d buy it for me cause he knows my love of these spoons… haha.

Stopped in the other day for a waffle cone. Bright and clean, with friendly, helpful staff. Busy, but not too busy to offer me a glass of water as I sat at the counter with my cone. The ice cream is great, of course, and they offer a full selection of other dairy items.

Do they still make turtle fudge sundaes? That was a staple of my diet every time I visited my relatives in Illinois. Oberweis is a favorite place for my whole family to go and even though my mom hasn’t been back to Illinois in almost ten years, she still talks about how she loved their milk and chocolate milk.
