In a phrase — custom cakes. You can call us with any idea you have for a cake (nothing R-rated) and we’ll work with you to make it happen! Because we value taste as much as appearance, the majority of our cakes are made using delicious buttercream frosting rather than fondant. If you prefer the look of fondant though we’re happy to accommodate.
We also offer homemade cake-pops, cupcakes, and cordial cherries.
We’re a home-based bakery, registered with the Office of Environmental Health and the Arizona Home baked Confectionery Goods Program. Thanks for taking the time to check us out!
History
Established in 2013.
Rachelle, the cake artist at Sugar Shells, piped her first frosting rose when she was 8 years old and has had the bug ever since.
She spent some time decorating cakes for a bakery in her late teens, and as a young mother she began decorating cakes for friends and family. From birthday parties to weddings, she have done a bit of it all. Now, after 8 years of spoiling her own family, she’s ready to share the joy with others.

Let’s talk cakes! Rachelle built her bakery around a simple concept — if you’re paying for a beautiful cake it better taste as good as it looks! That’s why her specialty is buttercream covered cakes and buttercream piping. Buttercream piping, (piping is when decorations are made freehand rather than tools such as cookie cutters) is almost considered «old-fashioned» today. She still prefers it though because not only does it taste better than the common fondant covered cake, it also means each cake is truly handmade and one of a kind.
