Nugget Markets

Came in today to get some New Year last minute stuff. Wow! Never saw nuggets so crowded. Carts and people clashing. Actually, I’m glad to see this, knowing business is thriving. However, knowing that on an ordinary day, it won’t be like this.
I took home a box of Prosciutto Three Cheese. Ingredients include: Prosciutto Di Parma, organic arugula, pecorino romano, blue cheese and cracked black pepper with oregano sauce and shredded mozzarella. $ 18.99.
First bite, all the ingredients combined, is heavenly. But, if you look at the photo I added to this review, the arugula was oh so sparse! I mean, barely even in the pizza. Ugh! That was so disappointing.
I also took home, a slice of the Kahlua chocolate cake. See photo. Absolutely delish ions. I would have liked to taste a bit more of the Kahlua flavor soaking the cake itself. But, I’d come back for this one.
The second piece of cake was the chocolate mousse cake. This one is a stellar! Light, airy, not too sweet, mix of dark and milk chocolate. When you take the first bite, it just melts in mouth. See photo. The mousse is European– airy, not the American-​jello/​custard. Perfect!

Nugget has the BEST cakes I’ve ever had. I bought one for an office party and everyone loved it! Their bakery has such a great selection, I have yet to be disappointed.

As good or better than Whole Foods Market… they have a great fresh food department. My favorite in the summertime is the Watermelon Cooler… I could go for one of these every day when it is warm out… yum!

Overall, awesome grocery store. Very clean, fresh, and has many hard to find items that other groceries don’t stock. This includes 00 flour, pearl sugar, sherry vinegar, and dutch process cocoa powder. These items aren’t that exotic, but I’ve had so much trouble finding these at other stores! The only downside is that some staples tend to be more expensive here.
However, their vast selection, friendly staff, and close proximity to home kept us coming back.
Plus their beer selection is awesome.
We’ve moved since, but I wish they’d open a location down in the south bay!!! (hint hint)

This place has great fresh juices! Nice area up stairs to enjoy your food and free wifi!

Love shopping here… they have huge selection. Fruits and vegetables are fresh. Friendly staff n great dessert for sweet tooth.

Best customer service and I love their salad bar and upstairs dining area. This is my regular lunch spot when time is limited.

The Nugget market is a very nice place on the isles everything is nicely placed in the meat section they had fish hanging above and all the décor was very nice in the bakery everything was placed very nicely. I would definitely recommend this store to everyone.

I am typically a Whole Foods sort of gal because I feel they have more of a selection. However, I tried out this Nugget because it was close to my work.
The service at this location is fantastic. The staff is very helpful and informative.
You have to try the Vita-​Mint juice in the smoothie bar area.

I heard such great things about this chain when we moved to The Sac area and everyone said I’d never got back to Whole foods. Well, I drive down the hill whenever I have the time, and use Nugget as an emergency backup.
This seems to be a combination of Safeway, whole foods and TJ’s with random prices. They have some great products that are reasonably priced but then your average item is way too high.
The best part of the market is the upper area, where you can sit and eat, geek out and just relax.

Clean and attractive, maybe a bit too much so, as the fruit and vegetable display favors artistry over efficiency. Excellent freshly packed salads, but no nutritional information calculated for them, which makes it hard for those of us who count calories.
Prices are high but selection is broad.
Used to take Apple Pay. Lately they don’t think a fingerprint is secure enough and force you to type in a PIN as well as use your fingerprint. That is very user unfriendly and guts the whole convenience of using Apple Pay.

Coming from the east coast I thought I would see good pizza no more. Now it’s not exact to what you’d get in NY but was pleasantly surprised to have it right in town! Not to mention boars head deli meats (just wish they had the pesto parmesan ham) and their bakery lovely as well. Good selection of olives and cheese as well. And the EPI bread is my fav. Oooo and the Mexican hot chocolate is good. But it’s the only I’ve ever tried. The kids love the selection of soda good treat.
Only complaint: The prepared food in the cold case next to the deli section I haven’t had good luck with. It’s been kinda dry.

I enjoy shopping here for so many reasons. The deli section is a restaurant unto itself. The produce department is a work of art and where I first learned about and tasted cherimoya, and the wine selection is phenomenal. It’s also a great place to get a pizza on game night.

Great bakery (better than whole foods bakery). They have ettore’s pastries and fresh baked donut holes daily. Tasty chocolate croissants.
Cool ass café upstairs. Great if you need to get some work done within a couple hours and located right above the bakery.
Good cheese selection. Whole foods is a bit more in slection but Nugget offers what we need each time.
Deli/​prepared meals: So far everything we’ve had has been worth the extra dollar to avoid cooking. Loved the salmon and the flautas, only if you like batter) and this eggplant dish my friend brought over.
Produce section: Well maintained with an artistic presentation. Produce is always fresh, never had a problem with lack in quality. I do think they should offer more in terms of the organic choices.
Wonderful skincare and body care section. Woohoo… this is the local place to hit up if you’re too lazy to head down to Elliotts or the Co-​op in Sac. Surprising a large selection.
Good selection of natural or organic options.
Easy location. Right off freeway near shops, movies and restaurants.
Cons: Nothing really. i was going to say price but when they have a sale, it’s cheaper than Raley’s and Safeway.

It wasn’t until I changed the way I eat that I realized just how important a market’s having a good product section is…
After lots of starts, then fails at a variety of markets (yes you, Whole Foods), I’ve finally found my nirvana. THIS Nugget Markets!
They have the best veggie section of any other general supermarket I’ve visited. That may ruffle more than a few peoples’ feathers, but don’t hate, investigate!
I got some really raggedy looking organic (whatever THAT really means, but that’s another story) from one popular, upscale market I won’t name (their initials are Whole Foods). Two days later they were rotten! Now, why did I get these ratchet tomatoes, you may ask? It’s because that was all that store (which was known for its produce, I thought) had left!
When I walked into this particular Nugget Markets, I was IMMEDIATELY smacked upside the head with veggies and other fruit and produce. They even had more veggies further down the store, so no matter where in the store I was, produce always seemed to be close.
I was in a mecca of tomatoes! I was able to easily pick several of their organics to take home without feeling I was a part of a tomato-​ian «Sophie’s Choice!»
Now, this store is a ways from where I live, but it’s a great way to get something done when I come to EDH each week to take my daughter to cheer practice.

Nugget Nugget Nugget Nugget…(takes deep breath) Nugget Nugget Nugget!
I love this place. The ice coffee is the best I have ever had. All of the employees are friendly. In fact, Austin may be the best coffee bar manager/​barista/​wizard I have ever seen. And I’ve seen many.
True, the Carrott cake is amazing. The coffee has me checked into to caffeine rehab. But it’s the Haley Corbets of Nugget that make this place go. You are not going to find this unique combination of human spirit and delucious food anywhere else in El Dorado Hills or this universe.
In all seriousness, 5 stars. Hell, I even saw a couple from Arizona standing outside taking pictures of the Nugget. That’s how amazing this place is. In fact, I am taking a break right now to get my ice coffee and marvel at this archutectural gem. Can anyone say «sensory overload»?

They make excellent NY style pizza here! The whole cheese pizza is only 12.99 and it’s delectable. Plus it’s huge.

It’s 2.49 for a slice of cheese pizza, which is actually like two slices.
Ate the pizza upstairs in their lovely dining area, which has nice outdoor views. Tons of tables and chairs. A sofa and coffee table.
Great selection of wines, cheese, and organic fruits and vegetables.
Can’t rate the meat department though since I didn’t check it out.
They have WI-​FI! A perfect place to work and have lunch. Or dinner upstairs. A fabulous place to meet with clients and grab a bite to eat.

Nugget has consistently provided me with great service and high quality products. There was a time, when Whole Foods opened in Folsom a couple years ago, when I strayed… but I came back to my Old Faithful pretty quickly. Why? Let me tell you…
If I go to Whole Foods, I also have to go to Raleys or Nugget for some of the regular brand products… because Nugget carries regular brands as well as the specialty ones, I find myself a loyal customer here.
The building is tastefully decorated on the outside with beautiful ironwork: grapevines and grapes scroll across the façade, there’s seating for those who want to people watch, and the parking is plentiful. When you walk in, there are stairs off to the right (and a small elevator) leading you to a spacious lounge area upstairs: free wi-​fi, plush leather couches, tables for two and four, microwaves, iced water, and restrooms with late hours (they are open until 11pm every night) makes this a great location for study groups, book clubs, and just getting away from the madding crowds. I’ve retreated to the lounge with a coffee and croissant on many an occasion to cram for my accounting classes, or to just take a break. Plenty of outlets for the ubiquitous laptops makes this a home away from home… if you had to pay every time you opened the fridge door. Well, maybe that would stop me from eating as much as I do…
Nugget carries reasonably priced produce, organic and non-​organic, and high quality meats and fish. I pre-​order my dungeness crab for Christmas and New Year and they crack and clean the crab for you. Prices are better than Whole Foods on the crab. They have a great selection of cheeses (and they are always ready to give you a sample before you buy), and their baked goods are delicious. There’s a coffee and gelato bar, and their made to order pizzas and sandwiches are yummy.
