Werner Optometry

I first went to Werner Optometry a year ago based on the high recommendations on Unilocal.I was happy enough with my first experience, purchased a pair of glasses, a pair of sunglasses, and updated contact lenses. Recently I went in for an annual checkup and was not happy at all! The same extensive tests were run as last year and the doctor concluded that my prescription had changed enough to warrant purchasing new glasses. I have been very happy with my vision through the last year and was surprised, but nonetheless open to the possibility. I did ask if I should come in for separate contact lens check (I wasn’t wearing them) and he said probably not, that contact prescriptions typically don’t change at the same rate as glasses. However, an interaction with the «check out» clerk had some disconcerting twists. First of all, I was billed $ 99 for «contact lens check». I asserted that there had been no such check and she said something about measuring my lens in the battery of tests provided. She went on to say that even though there was no change to my lens prescription didn’t mean they hadn’t evaluated it — just like there was no change to my glasses prescription! But the doctor had clearly said my eyes had changed enough to warrant new glasses. I asked for a printout of my prescription and she printed my contact prescription. I had to be assertive to get the prescription for the glasses. I did have an inexpensive pair of glasses made at Costco with last years prescription, so I’m now eager to have them compare the prescription that was printed to the one they have on record. I regrettably paid the bill for the «contact lens check» but certainly won’t be returning to this establishment. Once you’ve lost trust with a doctor, the relationship is pretty much over.

I would not recommend this Optometry practice. They have all this fancy equipment but after two visits my glasses still don’t focus right. I went online and used an old prescription and got better results than I got with these people. They want me to keep coming in so they can keep trying to get it right. I don’t have time for that.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Rex for over 5 years now. I used to live in the area, so it was just convenient, but I still travel to his office now that I moved 30 minutes away. They are always very friendly, attentive, and always take the time to explain things to me. Sometimes Dr. Rex talks a little too much, but he has always been very kind and thorough during his exams. I feel confident that he is doing his best and providing me with the best eye care possible. I will continue to travel to this office for my annual exams.

I rarely post reviews on Unilocal,instead relying on other methods for reviews. However, I feel that the service I received at Werner Optometry needed to be shared with as many people as possible. I promise, I will try to make this as short, concise, and to the point as possible.
Every single person I came into contact with at Werner Optometry was friendly and courteous. They each seemed to go out of their way to make what was a potentially uncomfortable process seem a little more enjoyable.
From the moment I placed a call to schedule an appointment, to the actual appointment itself, I never felt like a «Patient». Rather, the staff made me feel as if I were a friend, offering whatever they could to ensure my comfort.
All the staff at Werner Optometry should be commended for their professionalism, dedication to their patients, and for otherwise making the process of Eye Health Care a truly pleasurable experience. I look forward to many more years as a client of Werner Optometry.

I have been seeing Dr. Rex for ten years. I started seeing him when we lived just down the road and he was one of the closest optometrists around. When we moved, however, I have consistently come back to him. When we lived 30 miles away I happily made time in my day to return to him for updating my contacts. Now we are about 10 miles away and I return to him without question.
Dr. Rex will answer any question you have and will make sure you understand the answer. He will spend as much time as you need getting your prescription just right. When I was having weird night-​vision stars he explained what the problem was and backed my prescription down for me, free of charge. When I told him about my migraines he told me about his son, and helped me figure out both my migraine trigger and how to shield myself.
In addition to all the help he’s been for me as an individual, Dr. Rex is active in Doctors Without Borders and closes his office periodically so he can go abroad and help those who don’t have ready access to health care. He’s a fantastic doctor, and he’s an all-​around «good guy». I’ll be coming to Dr. Rex as long as he is practicing, no matter how far I have to travel.

These guys are fast they have the latest technology just overall a great experience.

Very friendly service and a great atmosphere! I have always loved coming here when I need a good pair of prescription shades. Dr. Aaron Werner really does go above and beyond to connect with his patients. The staff really are an efficient bunch too! Came in recently to get my frames adjusted and was in and out in 10 minutes.

Everything about Werner Optometry is five star, the doctors are caring and explain each procedure during the exam, I have never had a better understanding concerning the health of my eyes. Every facet of my visit is always a pleasant experience, courteous and friendly attention from beginning to end. Great experience every time we visit. And, by ‘we’ I mean my whole family has been coming here for eye care/​checkups for about 10 years and we’ve never been disappointed. The doctors were so accommodating when we needed a special non-​scheduled visit as well. The staff is always very friendly and love those rebates!

It was clear to me the minute I stepped into Werner Optometry that it was the right place for me. The entire team is Happy and Welcoming all of the time! This says the staff is glad to be there too. I had a procedure for dry eye where little plugs are inserted into the tear duct and never was I nervous. Dr Aaron made me feel safe and comfortable. I live 2 hours away and travel to Rancho San Diego to see Werner Optometry. I recommend this practice to everyone.

I absolutely love this optometrist. When I first called the office I wanted to try on a couple pairs of Spy glasses. Knowing that they didn’t carry every pair I was interested in, the main receptionist/​technician (I think her name is Julia) let me know that the Spy rep was coming in the next morning and I could come try on all the pairs I wanted. I left work and showed up at 10 am and after about 15 minutes Julia called to determine where the rep was. Turns out that the rep who was supposed to be coming quit and no one at Spy notified the new rep of the appointment. So instead of being completely disappointed by the waste of time and gas money, Julia saved the day and said she would order each pair for me so I could try them out, knowing that I would only be able to purchase one pair. This kind of above and beyond service is something you rarely experience.
Also, when I went in for my actual check-​up both the technician and the doctor were dolls. They were both very friendly and funny. The optometrist actually explained to me what I was looking at in the «back of my eye» pictures.
Lastly, the office is bright and clean and they have a good selection of glasses. There is a whole case of Dolce and Gabana, Spy, and RayBan. Don’t go anywhere else or you are a fool :)

Very pleased with Werner Optometry. As soon as I walked in the door, I was greeted by the receptionists, and was made to feel at home. I was taken to the back for my exam by the technician within 5 minutes of my arrival. She was very thorough, informative, and took the time to hear my concerns and answer my questions. Dr. Aaron was also very thorough, kind, and explained my eye issues thoroughly. It was nice not feeling rushed or silly for asking questions during my exam. Dr. Aaron also noted that once I receive my prescription, I could come back with any questions or concerns, if necessary. I would highly recommend this office for your optical needs.

The sincerity of the care that you receive here is better than any other Optometry Office that I have been going to for my whole life! The information flows from the Staff and Doctor to you in a way that you can easily understand.
I’m in my middle 40’s and have been going to Eye Dr’s since I was 5 yrs old, and the care that I have receive here has me a Patient for the remainder of my life.

I’ve been going to see Dr. Rex for a few years now and I wished I had done so sooner! Every single visit I walk away with vision knowledge that I never knew. He seems genuinely passionate about eye care and the depth of his knowledge is amazing. He breaks down the most confusing conditions into language you can understand. Dr. Rex has his son Aaron working as a partner here and I have my 18 year old son seeing him. I talked so highly of this office that my husband now sees Dr. Rex, too. The office girls are always so friendly and accommodating. I love the smiles every time I come in. Highly recommend this business if you’re shopping for an eye care specialist.

Dr. Aaron is simply the best. I have a lot of scarring from an old RK surgery that makes it very difficult to fit me into contacts (I’m a very challenging patient). Dr. Aaron has gone above and beyond to help me find contacts to meet my needs. He is always kind, patient and caring and has worked extremely hard to make me happy and correct my vision! Thank you Dr. Aaron.
His office staff are exemplary! Kind, knowledgable and prompt. I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes for an appointment. Being an RN, I am equally impressed by the cleanliness of the office. The staff sterilizes all of the equipment, right in front of each patient, every single time!

I have been seeing Dr. Aaron Werner as a specialist for over a year. My regular eye doctor, Dr. Lisa Weiss, recommended his father Rex who I saw once. Aaron has pretty much taken over the business since then. He doesn’t sugar coat his diagnosis, but he takes the time to explain it to you in basic terms. He shares his findings with and wants the best for his patients.
The staff is great, and very accommodating. I’ve never bought glasses there, so I don’t know that experience that Andrew had yesterday but did not seem to like.
The support staff and doctors make even a negative experience (eye problem diagnoses) a pleasant one. I have been more than satisfied here and never feel that I’m being rushed, or my questions discounted.
