My first interaction with Steve Bailey Heating & Air Conditioning was great and then each subsequent visit got less and less professional. I was having an AC problem so I called and Steve came out, assessed the problem and fixed my AC unit that day, it was great. The same day, I asked about a problem with my back room not getting heat or air and he said he needed to come back to check that out. I called to make the appointment for him to come back and they said they weren’t doing anything other than AC emergencies but never even after weeks had passed called to reschedule with me, see how things were going or to refer me to someone who could help me with my problem now. I finally had to call them again and I scheduled another appointment where Steve came out and said what was wrong but that I would once more need another appointment for him to come fix the issue. I called and scheduled that visit but they ended up calling and cancelling on me the day before due to sickness. I had to call them of course to reschedule and the receptionist said she would talk to Steve and get back to me about his availability but she again never called me back to reschedule so I’ve had a freezing cold room and hall for months now. Due to their lack of service, I am being forced to start over with a different company and pay for their initial assessment before fixing the problem even though I already know what is wrong and it should have been fixed a month ago had Steve Bailey Heating and Air Conditioning done their job right. Steve Baileys lack of professionalism and keeping up with his customers needs has cost me a lot of time and money and I wouldn’t recommend him to anyone.

I called another HVAC place in the area and their quote was laughably high. They were clearly playing the con game. I called Steve Bailey next. Steve stopped by and later gave me a quote. The quote was totally reasonable and in line with what I had figured out based on other’s inputs and research. He and I had a small miscommunication, but understand how it happened. I had told him I wanted to save money and he did just that. So there was something not in the quote that I was expecting. No big deal. He said we could schedule for that later. The guys came out and in 1 day everything was up and running. Overall the experience was very good. They did what they said they would do and it works great. Thanks guys!

Found Steve here on Unilocal,prior to calling him we called another company, to do a repair on our a/​c, the Tech came out to check and gave me an outrageous quote and told me that he needed to replace a freon line etc etc. plus the charge of coming out to my place, in short he’s trying to rip us off so I decided to call some other company and I came across Steve Bailey. I called and Judy answered my call, amazing customer service over the phone, she made it a point to help me out and was able to send Steve on the same day I called to fix my a/​c, Steve gave me a courtesy call to let me know how much it will cost, boy I was glad that I called him, He was honest and a really nice guy to talk to. He isn’t out there to rip people off, I will be using them from now on for any future air and heat issues. Too bad I can only give them 5 stars. Thank you Steve and Judy!!!

When our a/​c failed, I wish I had contacted Steve Bailey first. Instead, I wasted a few weeks during the hottest weeks of Summer trying to deal with two other companies that lacked follow through. We basically knew the problem with our a/​c (a failed condenser unit) and after Richard from Steve Bailey checked it, we decided his advice was the best. We also decided to change our refrigerant from r22 (which is being phased out) to 410a and we expected we’d have to replace our evaporator coils. However, the previous company had told us that wasn’t necessary. There is some lack of consensus in the hvac community on this — whether the r22 coils could handle the higher pressure of r410a — but technically they should be replaced according to what we had researched. This was confusing but Richard told us plainly that the coils could burst (and leak) from the pressures if we didn’t change them and we decided to go with his advice to reduce the risk. Switching coolant type and changing evaporator coils adds more cost to the job.
Beginning with their admin person Judy who communicates thoroughly — the interaction was professional. She seems to have a pulse on what’s happening and cares about the customer also. Our system was checked out on a Monday and repaired that Thursday. It took about 3 hours for their crew to complete the job. The work we had done was an upgrade to 3.0 ton condenser unit (from 2.5 ton) and new coils, recover r22 and replace it with 410a and also added a filter housing. The total price was $ 3400. We were given an estimate beforehand and there were no surprises. Also, whoever did the install on our house (before we bought it) originally did a poor job and we discovered that the old coils were covered with a thick layer of crud which suffocated the unit. The crud had built up over time but also, the filter system wasn’t installed correctly. The unit had showed signs of poor performance and yet we continued to use it — not understanding what was going on. The condenser might not have burned out (it was 10 yrs old) had it been installed correctly in the first place.

Top notch professional service. We have an unrelated issue to our last service and I will be calling them again.

AC was out. The «other» place that had installed our heating and AC couldn’t seem to make it out for 6 days. Temp in house was already 88. Called Steve Bailey… they were going to come the next day, but had a schedule change late in day. Made it over and fixed to issue. Very good communication from the office there, before and after the repair. Would definitely look to Steve Bailey when we need to replace the system.

In the middle of a heat wave, my AC quit working. Luckily, they had a cancellation and had someone out that morning. My technician arrived on time and within 15 minutes, the part that blew was fixed and my AC was up and running! Thank-​you!

Fast, affordable, and great customer service. Called and they came out the same day, fixed my AC in about 10 minutes. Didn’t try to sell me anything I didn’t need. Highly recommended.

This is a terrific company. They came early, diagnosed my air conditioner problem quickly and repaired it with competence. They also pointed out a potential water situation that could have easily caused a flood in my house. I highly recommend them to anyone.

AC went out at 7:00 at night during a horrible humid, hot week. I called first thing in the morning and Judy said they are all booked but there was an appt. next day at 8:00 am. I booked it, then about 30 minutes later I received a call from Judy saying Steve could be at my house by 11:00 am that day!!! Steve called around 10:30 and said he was leaving his job. I was VERY impressed with his knowledge and friendly service. My AC was working in a matter of 15 minutes!!! This is my first Unilocal review. Hands down, the BEST AC company in East County. I would highly recommend Steve Bailey and company!!!

When I bought my mobile home, I didn’t think I needed air conditioning, being originally from the high desert, but one hot Friday changed that for me. Steve Bailey was recommended to me and it was the easiest installation of anything in this new home. Done in two hours, works like a dream and I’m enjoying my first summer in Santee, cool and comfy. From the nice woman that answered the phone to the installers, to Steve, friendly and nice people. Very good price as well, I researched the whole area and Steve was the best price.

Called the office of Steve Bailey today in desperate need of our A/​C unit to get checked. The nice lady answered and told me the technician could actually be out in a few hours. This operation is awesome. The technician was courteous, efficient, and professional. We’re back in cold air. Our normal company, big company in El Cajon with the initials B.J. let us down, wanting us to wait until Monday! That’s how they treat loyal customers of the last few years. Terrible. We just may be going with Steve Bailey from here on out!

Just had Steve Bailey install a central air system in my house and it was the best decision ever. Steve and his team are super reliable, friendly and performed an excellent job on the install. Steve, Rich and Judy are very responsive and I would recommend this company to anyone! Prices are very reasonable!

Asking for air conditioning help at the tail-​end of the hottest week of the year seemed a little crazy, but one call and we had an appointment for just a few days later! Rich came out and was able to check both our air conditioning and our furnace, and was so quick! He diagnosed the problems promptly and quoted us as he went, making sure to answer any questions and explain how to do things on our own. He went the extra mile to check for gas leaks and other little things with a happy heart and a quick hand. It was a quick, painless, and wonderful experience– affordable and all-​around great. We are loyal customers from here on out, and if anyone asks us, we’d send them the way of Steve Bailey!

The HVAC system in our rental property was on the blink. Thankfully, I was able to reach Steve by phone early in the morning (around 8:30am). He went to the property the same day, told me what was wrong, quoted a reasonable price over the phone and then fixed it. The tenant was happy (it was a hot day) and I was happy. Steve’s office followed up with me for payment efficiently and professionally. The whole experience was effortless. I would use Steve again and recommend him.

I needed a ac and heating system installed in my house and after getting quotes from companies I’ve seen advertised on tv I almost gave up due to the cost.
I started researching and came across Steve’s reviews on Unilocal and decided to get another quote. Steve came out that afternoon and took his time to help and answer questions. I’m happy to say I love my new unit and the install work was fast and professional. I’ll never call any one else highly recommended !

Our air conditioning wouldn’t start. I first called a large, well known company in San Diego. They scheduled us out three days later. So I had time to do a little more research and found Steve Bailey on Unilocal.I called and they scheduled me for the next morning at 9:00 a.m. Rich showed up at 8:30 and was finished before 9:00. He explained that we needed a new capacitor and suggested we also get a compressor to go with it. It was a quick fix, he had the parts in the van and our AC is working fine now. I would definitely recommend them.

Fast and friendly service! Attempted to get our AC fixed with other companies and still haven’t heard back from them after weeks. Steve and his team got back to me within minutes of contacting them via email. They promptly setup an appointment for a couple days later (often weeks later with other companies in the past). Steve was able to diagnose the problem within minutes and got our AC unit working as it should. The guy knows his stuff. Loved working with him and will definitely go to him in the future if needed.
