Quest Diagnostics

I brought my son (11 years old) in for standard bloodwork (CBC, ferritin, iron panel). I paid cash expecting a discount comparable to going through an online lab like

. These online labs will no longer provide service for a minor. I was charged $ 130+ more than these online services — as a cash patient using NO middle man! When I called Quest Diagnostics customer service, I was told discounts are up to the discretion of the local lab. Well, that is a local lab I will never use again, and I will make sure to tell my friends and family to never use them either. Poor customer service.

I feel silly writing a review for a blood lab but being that I hate needles and have to convince myself not to pass out every time I get blood drawn, I have to say the ladies here are really amazing. I made my appointment by phone for a couple hours later on the same day. The cute lady up front was friendly and efficient. The lady with volumous lashes was super nice and very gentle; she took 6 viles in a matter of like two minutes and I barely felt a thing! I had to go back for a fasting draw the next day. I made the appointment online the day before. I was seen, blood drawn, and out the door within 5 minutes. My phlebotomist even wished me a great day! Thanks for making this process seemingly painless and quick!

I have been there 1 hour ago“this is the first time i visit this place”, just to drop off some tests for my wife, i don’t know the system there, that i need to sign in even when i need to drop off something, so i signed with my name & the front desk was very rude with me and not polite, i give them zero customer service.

Went today for blood work that is covered under my husbands company (for a health assessment) the man running to front desk was rude and had a condescending laugh for everything, my license (to get copied) was snatched out of my hand and plopped into the copy machine. I’m sorry if he was having a bad day but please be respectful.
My phlebotomist — was awesome, she was super kind and was very good with her needle, unfortunately I will never come back because of the way the person at the front treated me.

I stupidly arrived at 11:27AM, three minutes before they closed for lunch. I got there just in time before they locked the doors. I know this because the lady working the front desk was very vocal about that fact. Regardless, I was thankful they let me come in. I just needed a somewhat straightforward blood panel that my doctor ordered so I knew it wouldn’t take too long.
I gave the front desk my paperwork and had a seat. There were a couple other people in the waiting area with me, but I only had to wait a few minutes before Jimmy came out and said he was ready for me.
I have tattoos on both arms over where they normally take blood, but Jimmy was able to quickly and painlessly hit my vein by touch. He gathered all the blood that was needed, showed me they were stickered properly, had me sign a form, and I was out the door at 11:40AM.
I did feel very badly about showing up right before their lunch, but I still don’t understand why doctor’s offices and medical facilities do this. I work in a place with only a few employees, but we arrange our lunch breaks so that there is always someone available to help customers. Sure, service might be a bit slower when part of the staff is at lunch, but it wouldn’t shut down entirely. It’s just so weird! Someone message me and explain why these offices have to be shut down for lunch.
Anyway, like I said, I was in and out of there quickly and Jimmy was awesome and friendly. Even though I did make him ten minutes late for lunch. Sorry, Jimmy!

The lady with short blond hair at the front desk was very pleasant. She took me back right away for my urine sample. After my urine sample Laila made sure to greet me and steer me to a room to draw my blood. She was courteous enough to use a butterfly needle upon my request while explaining there is a possibility for blood clots since it was a smaller needle. She also explained to me what I was getting my blood drawn for. I will highly recommend this site and will come back every time I need my blood drawn. The part I loved most was how gentle Laila was with drawing my blood. I mean who likes needles anyway? I was in & out in a matter of 10 – 20 minutes. I feel more comfortable here than the La Mesa location that I’ve always gone to. I’m surprised they have so many bad reviews, then again there aren’t any recent ones. There wasn’t a single thing I didn’t enjoy about my visit, since I was not looking forward to it to begin with.

I went here one time with my mother. I must say I will definitely drive the extra mile to get better service next time. The lady at the front desk really must have hated her position. Good customer service? Yeah right. They know nothing about customer service. They make you feel so uncomfortable. Who wants to get their blood drawn. Nobody likes to, so the least they can do is make you feel at ease! All the techs were huffing and puffing to the point where my mother almost wanted to walk out. Well here’s another place I will never be stepping foot into.

Quest failed again! After going in there last week to verify my lab work was covered 100%, I fast and go in there again this morning, still trying to get the same blood work done. Again this morning they tried to charge me $ 200 for something that is free. I’m not sure if they’re scamming people on purpose, or if they’re really that dumb.

This wouldn’t be my first choice if I ever have to get a blood test again. The receptionist/​tech who checked me in looked like she went to work straight out of bed. And then she proceeded to have an argument with one of the techs, about some samples not being sent in/​picked up when they were supposed to have been processed STAT. That’s some scary stuff right there.
I had warned my phlebotomist that the last time I had my blood drawn at another Quest lab, the tech had a very hard time getting blood and ended up bruising up my veins and using a butterfly on the back of my hand. So, thankfully, she had the sensibility to use a smaller needle but even she could not get anything and had to poke my vein in different directions! Aaaaargh!!! Can you imagine how violated I felt?
And then it was time to get a urine sample. Only one out of two restrooms was working. Good thing I didn’t have to wait. While I was there, I noticed there were already four samples waiting to be picked up and nobody was doing it. Other than it being a privacy issue (because our names were on the containers), the samples can also be contaminated by anybody with a sick mind.
Anyways, this facility is one of the newer ones in the area and is furnished with modern, contemporary furniture and nice, soothing green tones. It’s pretty clean and uncluttered, but the staff needs some work.
Thank God I didn’t end up with bruised veins though. That being said, my phlebotomist probably did something right despite the crazy poking I got.

This place is awful. The lady at the front desk is always rude, every time I’ve gone there to get my blood drawn, she makes me feel like I called her at home and demanded she come in on her day off. They also make some sort of mistake just about every time I’ve been to quest for a blood draw. Never go there, unless you thrive on disappointment and inconvenience!
Update
It’s been 7 months since my last blood draw at quest (Nov. ’13). They never sent the results of my blood test to my neurologist, yet still billed my insurance company. I have not gone back since.
In the past, they would send me bills for my co-​pays. I paid ONE TIME with my credit card and they kept charging my card each month. I finally had to cancel my credit card to stop them from charging my credit card.

I went in a couple of weeks ago to have my son’s blood drawn for a test, and the lady at the front desk was not only nasty, but unnecessarily sarcastic. She called a gentleman’s name right before my son’s, and as he walked up, you can tell she was set on giving him a hard time. She was not helpful to him at all. Then when we were called, I guess she assumed that I didn’t have insurance (I was holding son and couldn’t pull it out fast enough for her) so she gave me a nasty attitude. I worked in the customer service field for 8 ½ years. Had the rudest people come and ask me for the most outrageous things, but not once do I remember even thinking to be so mean. Some people just need to be grateful they have jobs!
