This place is incredible. Kevin is professional, personable and knows everything there is to know about amps. There is no other place I would go to in San Diego. His rates are better than anywhere and you really get personal one on one service, making the customer service here the best in town. As a Guitar Center sales associate I recommended Planet of the Amps to countless customers, knowing they’d be better satisfied than they would at GC.
Kevin has done an incredible amp mod for me in the past on my Orange Thunderverb 50W. He had never done a mod on this type of amp, and it being a British amp had to search overseas somewhere in Europe for some specs just to insure I received the best mod he could possibly offer. He did a phenomenal job. The amp sounds amazing, and continues to sound great; I’ve never once had an issue or malfunction with it. His work definitely holds up.
I’ve never met anyone more passionate or tuned to their craft. Kevin has helped me with countless pieces of gear, not just amps. I highly recommend Planet of The Amps to any musician or sound tech who truly cares about the quality and shelf life of their gear.

First time I heard of Planet of the Amps was through an old friend that recommended me to check it out. I have a Mesa Boogie triple rectifier that just wasn’t turning on. I took it to a couple places in the San Diego area that specializes in high gain amplifiers but they were unable to diagnose the problem after a week I had taken my amp in and their fees were very high. When I heard about PotA I went to meet up with Kevin and he told me a few possibilities that could be wrong with my amp right off the bat. He was very knowledgable and explained to me (in lamer terms for me to understand) what could’ve caused the problem. Not only he fixed my amp in a timely manner but also his fees were very reasonable. My amp now breathes fire and I couldn’t be happier with the results. If you are looking to have any amp work done contact Kevin at Planet of the Amps. You won’t be disappointed and you will make a friend out of it. A very knowledgable, down to earth guy with great value.
