If you’re looking for authentic Italian cuisine, this is the place to go. Upon entry, you are treated like family. The environment is so laid back and relaxed. The food is to die for. The plates are always overflowing with deliciousness, and are a fair price. The grandma pizza is mouth watering, and every single one of their dishes is made with love & care. Everything is homemade, and the desserts are. Tantalizing! If you want a fulfilling meal, and are in middlesex county of New Jersey, this a place that you have to try. I have been coming here for over ten years, and I have never been disappointed! LOVEYOUGUYS!

Sal has the best pizza around. He makes delicious homemade Italian dishes. I’ve had a lot of different food that’s Sal makes and everything is out of this worl. Plus all of the desserts are excellent and are homemade. Great place and great people.

Superb pizza! I am a Brooklyn girl and working in NJ has been such a disappointment when it comes to food. pizza in particular. I don’t know what it is but this pizza is like NYC pizza. I prefer the cut slices rather than the personal pie.(I think something gets lost in translation) The cheese is great; great sauce, good service. I travel miles just for a slice. Will be returning… often!

Used to eat here for many many years. Love their pizza and I’m from Brooklyn so that’s saying a lot. Remember them at their old location and have been to their new location. Loyal customer. The reason I stopped going here is because the guy who makes the pizza and serves the pizza was clipping his nails behind the counter. Yes you read that correctly. He was clipping his nails behind the counter. Let me let that sink in for a moment. My sister and I were seated at a table eating and I heard a familiar clicking sound. We both stopped and looked at each other and said no way that cant be. Sure enough I got up and walked to the front of the restaurant and he was there clipping his nails. I will never eat here again. I have craved one of their slices many times but I won’t. When you clip your nails that little nail shrapnel flies everywhere. That is just disgusting. Zia Lisa I hope you are reading this. You are a pizzeria not a nail salon.

This place is a joke!!! We order spaghetti and meatballs paid $ 11.00 for 2 meatballs. Very expensive for the type If food. Much better places around…

Best Pizza ever and I’m a NY girl. I’m a Brooklyn girl at that! For crying out loud, we’ve got pizza tours in our borough. The owners were so hospitable, what a wonderful bunch of folks. The BF is apparently a regular here and we were greeted and promptly served the best thin crust pizza I’ve had this side of Rome. Crust was exactly the way I love it. It held up all the wonderfully fresh toppings we added, which were basically everything minus the anchioves and mushrooms(BF doesn’t like). A group of super friendly people were seated at a long table across from us and my mouth was watering as plates of delicious looking and smelling plates of yummy goodness exited the kitchen. I think they saw the longing look on my face because they actually offered me some of their pasta; which I would’ve sampled if it wasn’t already 9:00 pm and that would’ve been disastrous for my belly. No worries, I’ll definitely be back. NJ I’m starting to like you.

So I called this place, made my order and they couldn’t understand me. They didn’t say anything about making my order or anything. Just said they would call me back. 20 min go by and I call somewhere else to get my pizza. About 10 – 15 min after that they call me back and said what’s my address. I told them nicely I had ordered from somewhere else and his exact words were«you ordered pizza from somewhere else? How about you choke on it» and hung up. Extremely unprofessional and completely unnecessary to even say that. Never calling back again.

The food here is a godsend. Culture and passion shines bright through every dish. My favorite is the shrimp scampi but I try something new almost every time and have yet to come across something I didn’t love. Zin Lisa has become my go to place :) LOVE it!

They totally messed up our delivery order. We placed an order at 6:30pm and they said it would be there in 40 minutes. At 7:45(that is 75 minutes later), we called to see where the food was. They lied to us and said it was about to leave the store. We know they lied because we called back 20 minutes later(running total of 95 minutes waiting time), spoke with the same guy, and he said that they didn’t write our order down in the first place and that he «tried» to get a hold of me after I hung up before. He did not apologize. I told him I was very upset about this. He still did not apologize again. I told him we will never eat there again(if he had apologized, I would have reconsidered because the food is decent). He didn’t seem to mind and said goodbye. Absolutely terrible. Never going back again.

We really like menu food from this place! Each time I am trying some other Italian restaurant I feel that I will never forget the taste of the best veal I ever each in this place! This is home restaurant thus all is delicious! Really recommend to order salad on start and any type of veal you will see in menu! You will be really surprised because of the best taste and it is not pricy there.

My husband and I had lunch here late summer. The place is very unassuming and somewhat dirty. Service was below average. We waited a while to get initial service… no other customers in the place. We ordered chicken parm. It was pretty bad… very soggy chicken with standard tomato sauce. We were disappointed.

Felt like I’m in Italy. Amazing food. Hidden place. Looks like an ordinary pizza place, but it’s not. They have an incredible kitchen inside. The italian owner couple cook authentic Italian dishes. This place is 10000 times better than a pricy and pretentious Italian restaurant.

I love this place! It is a hidden Gem, go past the pizza by the slice and into the back. There is a separate kitchen with a full menu. The food is fantastic, the service is superb. The menu is extensive, seafood, chicken, veal, pasta. They have it all. I just ordered what I was hungry for, not on the menu, no problem. It is not fancy, but is fantastic!!!

Having been away from the tri-state area for months, I found myself desperately craving real pizza in the days leading up to my return. I stopped at Zia Lisa when dropping a friend off at Rutgers and had a fresh Grandma pizza upon his recommendation and assertion that it was the only edible, albeit good, pizza in the area. The cheese and sauce/tomato part was delicious — tangy, juicy, gooey, garlicky, chewy… everything you look for on top of a pizza. That was 5-star-worthy. The crust, on the other hand, left much to be desired. It was a bit cardboard-ey and somehow, despite clearly being fresh, had a stale texture. I was looking forward to the cannoli mentioned in other reviews but unfortunately they were out. Instead we got the tiramisu and two of the ice cream(?) mousse cups. They had potential and were enjoyable but were not homemade unfortunately and were clearly just shuttled from the freezer to our table.

My partner and I went to this restaurant based on the reviews here on Unilocal.Although a bit of a rocky start, it turned out to be a great experience. It is very unassuming from the road, in fact we drove by it and needed to turn back. Parking on the side. Walking in, you feel as though you are walking into a pizza place, mainly delivery. Then you see a few tables in the back. We sat down, there were about 8 other people dining. We thought about walking out because it took quite a while to have our order taken. I’m glad we didn’t leave. We ordered fried calamari and scungilli salad, unfortunately no calamari. They were waiting on a delivery that was due to arrive any minute. We had the hot antipasto platter as an appetizer, $ 10.50. It consisted of two stuffed shrimp, two stuffed mussels, two stuffed baked clams and a egglant riggotoni. It was delicious. Oh, and it is BYOB so we had our own wine. Again taking advice from previous reviews, we asked for dishes that were not on the menu. Rosie suggested spicy chicken and chicken sputtoni(sp?). What great choices. Chicken was tender, perfectly cooked. The pasta was al dente, just right. The spicy chicken was very spicy. She did ask how much spice we wanted. Anyway, great dishes. For dessert we asked for cannoli, but they were sold out for the day. She gaves us a great gelato dessert on the house. We also had coffee and an expresso. Oh forgot to mention, when they calamari was not available, she also brought us a plate of awesome mussels. Our total bill was $ 43 for two. So highly recommend, don’t come for the décor. But the food is excellent. The pizzas looked incredible. We will do that next time. Local business, family owned it doesn’t get better. Give them a shot, I think you will like it.
