History

Established in 1999.

Advantage Sound was born when Andy Maroney decided he was ready to «go solo» after several years of working for other entertainment companies. After operating successfully in upstate New York for a dozen years Andy relocated operations to California in 2011, then landed in Colorado in late 2013. Now serving an area that covers the Denver metro area and beyond, Advantage Sound remains your choice for the highest quality sound and personalized service. With over 20 years of wedding experience, Andy has facilitated the musical entertainment for events ranging from the smallest backyard party to the most elegant banquet hall. Recently having performed at the Washington Park boat house and Castle Cliff Estate, he is getting used to Denver. Andy is also a life long drummer and enjoys playing with the party band Jam Ltd.

Andy discovered his love of music when he was five years old, starting with his parents’ collection of 45 RPM records of Elvis Presley and a General Electric model V211 portable record player.

He performed DJ duties at his 6th grade dance by using a combination of 8-​track tapes and LPs he had ordered from Columbia House.

On January 1, 2001 Andy married his wife, Carolyn, and provided the music for his own ceremony and reception.

A resident of Colorado since 2013, Andy has also lived in New York and California. He’s been a drummer most of his life and has most recently played with the Denver tiny Funk Orchestra.

With an obsessive attention to detail and a friendly, service oriented approach Mr. Maroney has performed at dozens of weddings over the past two seasons in and around the Denver area.

On Sunday, January 17, 2016 Advantage Sound will be the only mobile DJ vending at the world’s first «Cannabis Wedding Expo» at Point Gallery.

Andy was fantastic! He helped make our wedding a lot of fun, and our guests danced all night to his playlists! We were very happy that Andy was available prior to the wedding to plan out the songs during our ceremony and give us advice based on weddings he’d previously DJ’d. He arrived early to set up and worked with our wedding coordinator to make sure everything went smoothly. He expertly mixed some slow jams with some great dance music, and even played some great requests from our guests. He was great with setting up audio for our officiant and readers, and helped keep the party on track with the schedule we’d created with him. Andy was courteous and professional, and we’d recommend him to anyone looking to throw a great party!

Andy was the DJ for my wedding a few weeks ago. He is very friendly, mellow, and — most of all — professional. He offered to meet with my fiancé and me a few times before the wedding, both in-​person, and on Skype, to iron out the details and to get to know us better. I was able to focus on more important things on The Big Day because he was well-​prepared for the event, and he made us his only commitment for the day. On the day of the wedding, his MCing skills were superb, the songs he chose for our wedding really reflected our musical tastes, and we received numerous compliments on the music. I have absolutely no complaints about his service.
I researched a few top-​rated DJs on Unilocal in the Denver area, and most of them lacked the personal touch and humility that Andy possesses. Andy is not in this business to show-​off his DJing skills; he is in this because he takes pride in providing a quality service to his customers. You will have no regrets hiring him to DJ your special event!

Andy was the DJ at our wedding this summer and we were so pleased with his work. From the beginning he was friendly, professional, and thorough. He took the time to meet with
us in person and stayed in touch through phone and email. His questions helped guide our decision making and he offered helpful advice. At his request, we provided him a list of our play and do not play songs; however, we left the majority of the dance open to whatever Andy felt was appropriate. He did a great job reading the crowd and keeping the dance going all night. We highly recommend Andy!

Andy was an awesome DJ for our wedding! He was very friendly when we met him long before the event, and clearly outlined what he needed from us to run the event well. I gave him a list of artists we liked and some requests from wedding guests, which he expanded upon perfectly. Normally I end up dancing to about a third of songs at weddings, but for ours I didn’t hear a song I didn’t like. Andy kept the party moving throughout, and was helpful for organizing the flow of events from ceremony to dinner to reception as well. Finally, he was helpful enough to recommend more songs to flesh out our ceremony – all of which fit the mood exactly as we wanted. I couldn’t recommend Andy any more highly as a friendly, knowledgeable wedding DJ!

Andy DJ’d my wedding last month. I have nothing but excellent things to say about him and the affordable service he provided! I am not surprised at all that he has so many good reviews on here.
He was helpful, knowledegable, friendly, professional, and fun. He was able to tailor the music to our specific taste, and was very easy to work with. At the wedding, he did a great job of mixing one song into the next– there were no weird «quiet spots.» He read the crowd really well, too, and kept everyone dancing. We had so much fun thanks to Andy’s hard work and great attitude!
He patiently helped us figure out the tedious details, too, like exactly when a song should be played, different events that might require a certain type of song, equipment-​related info, etc. He coordinated everything superbly with the other vendors. I would highly, highly recommend Advantage Sound. Andy really knows what he is doing!

Yahoo! We got married and Andy helped us celebrate with rockin’ tunes! Andy asked all the right questions — what were we looking for in our music?, did we want to do certain traditions?, what were important songs to make sure to play and more importantly leave off. Andy was fabulous to work with. I found him on craigslist and I knew he was it for us when he threw in the idea of playing Beetlejuice songs at the reception. (My husband is known for his Beetlejuice costume!) He had a wealth of knowledge on music and was excited to learn new songs and genres.
Andy was very easy to work with and talk to and was willing to accommodate our taste and style. He helped maintain the flow of the day without running the show.
The only thing I would say is that we forgot to do the mother-​daughter and mother-​son dances and we were relying on him to help remind us. However, we take fault in that because we didn’t have it on the agenda. We just wanted it slipped in to the evening were it was appropriate. But we didn’t even remember that it was left out until the next day.
All in all, Advantage Sound was an excellent choice! He was able to get every song we wanted– from the least known to the most traditional. He traveled to Greeley with no extra charge and he went with the flow as the agenda changed at the spur of the moment.
His equipment was great. Everything sounded terrific and he kept a low key profile during the ceremony. I loved it.

Andy is the best! He did an amazing job as DJ at a benefit Gala for The American Cancer Society. He was professional, caring, and really fun! His choice of music selection for the Gala was excellent. Every one had a really great time thanks to Andy and his talented wife and comedian Carolyn. I would definitely recommend Andy at Advantage Sound for any special event or wedding. I’m looking forward to working with him again.
