Elite Event at Our Wicked Lady

okay sooooooo… I know im supa duper late but had to shout out the last bk event of 2015!
Our Wicked lady: Cute cozy space… with a funky twist! Large bar, a few high tables and a small performance space! Cool funky vibe! Street parking only! We found a spot quickly on this rainy Tuesday night, not sure about a sat night tho! Staff was friendly, bartenders were keeping up with us thirsty Unilocalers.
DRANKS: 2 choices featuring Owneys Rum, I might not be the best judge on these… not so much a rum gal. They had a daiquiri with simple syrup and fresh lime… WOW…kinda strong on a Tuesday! They other was a maple old fashioned with maple simple syrup and angostura grapefruit twist… this one was the one for me or at least easier to drink… lol Again… im not a rum gal… Unilocalers seemed to be throwin them back!
FOOD: burgers & fresh cut fries from Benson & Ball. Seasoning on these burgers was delish and they topped it with a zesty sauce… yummmmm!
here’s toooooo… a great 2015 Unilocal year… CHEERS!!!

This review is a bit delayed, but as they say better late than never – the Elite Event at Our Wicked lady was a great way to kick off the holiday party season. Our Wicked Lady is a great addition to Bushwick, and has serious vacation vibes, from the upbeat music playing to the neon art on the walls. A fun way to transport yourself somewhere sunny and warm without getting on a plane.
I had both of the rum cocktails and they were well made and strong. The daiquiri was my favorite but only but a tiny bit. I also had both versions of the burger – those guys know what they’re doing. And as always, it was nice meeting new Elites and seeing some familiar faces as well.

Christmas parties on weeknights always make for messy mornings the next day. This one proved true.
Arrived to see two delicious rum drinks on the menu. A nice serving of burgers. And lots of friends to help ring in the holiday spirit.
Their run based old fashioned was an interesting twist on a classic, but it tasted just as tasty while still managing to be spirit forward. So spirit forward I woke up dazed, confused, and cursing the Gods of Tuesday. It also leveled me to the point where I’m writing this review two weeks later.
The burgers were excellent. Juicy, with good quality meat and seasoning. The fries took a while to make, but that extra TLC helped. Great food.
It was a wonderful evening, and the staff there were wonderful. Helped bring about some holiday spirit. Thanks to the staff, and to Peter D. Unilocal 2015 was a blast.

Thanks to Wicked Lady for hosting, Benson & Ball for their awesome burgers, Owney Rum for their concoctions, Peter for organizing, and last but not least my fellow Unilocal elites that are troopers for making it out during the rainy Monday.
It was a great social event, finally got to meet some real personalities from Unilocal.Great way to celebrate the end of this year.

What a great way to end the year. This was the last Brooklyn event of 2015. Our Wicked Lady was nice and spacious. They also have a rooftop but I didn’t get to check it out because it was raining the night of the event.
The awesome bartenders served up two great drinks. Daiquiri and Maple Old Fashioned. The drinks were made with Owney’s rum. I’ve never had an old fashioned. I heard some people say it was too sweet but I really liked it. You were able to buy drinks off their menu.
I had a chance to talk with one of the bartenders. He said that there is space for artists to practice and also perform. Kind of like giving back to the community.
We were also served Benson & Ball burgers with fries. They had both beef and falafel patties. Both were really good. They also have a schedule set up with the bar where they come in and sell their food on the premise. We also had tasty chocolate treats provided by barkTHINS… the chocolate almonds and chocolate pretzels were amazing.

Once again, another great Unilocal event — thanks Peter D! Of course I got off a subway stop too early and trekked through Bushwick in the weird, misting-​sideways rain. I was so happy to finally find Our Wicked Lady, which is an awesome space — definitely worth coming back to. My night got even better when I was able to sample a few great cocktails — the Daquiri and the Maple Old Fashioned. The Maple was great — very seasonal! — but the Daquiri actually ended up being my favorite, even though I don’t typically go for fruit drinks. It wasn’t sweet at all, just refreshingly lime-​y and very drinkable.
I also had a really delicious cheeseburger half — thank you Benson & Ball for manning the grill in the rain! I guess it’s been a while since I’ve had a burger but it really hit the spot. The BarkThins were also too good — the combination of chocolate and pretzel is basically like crack for me so obviously I was in a good place. And of course it was great to meet new friends and catch up with old! Thanks for a great night and happy holidays Brooklyn elite!

I am a bit sad that this is last event of the year, which means another Unilocal-​year went by.
But what an amazing year it was!
I am cheered up by this cool venue and all of your familiar faces in one place — to raise our glasses at the end of the year 2015, once more.
Our Wicked Lady was perfect — it is spacious, rough and welcoming at same time, very easy to get to, parking is a plenty and subway is not far away.
Now, I usually do not drink rum, but heck, I had to brave it sometime. This was a perfect occasion for it — and I liked it! Bartenders were working like a dancers on a floor, drinks were flowing — and while i liked both variations, Maple Old Fashioned was a bit too sweet to my taste.
Burgers were absolutely delish! A pop-​up just outside the door, little grill and small table produced heck of the flavors! I have to come back for those, since I am often in this neighborhood.
Cheers to all my friends I have not seen in a while, hope to drink with ya’ll again next year!

The handsome bartenders mixing well-​made cocktails coupled with the delicious and well-​dressed burgers made this Unilocal event a success! Add my new favorite snacking chocolate, Barkthins, to the mix, and yeah, let’s just say I enjoyed myself thoroughly! My eyes, my belly and my soul were happy. Even the rain couldn’t put a damper on my holiday cheer.
Nonetheless, I really enjoyed the venue and will definitely drop in sometime for a drink.

From one (awesome) Peter to another, I gotta give props to Peter D for another great Brooklyn event. The dreary Monday night couldn’t rain on any of our parades as we got together to enjoy one last Unilocal event for the year at Our Wicked Lady.
The venue: Our Wicked Lady — Right off the Morgan Ave stop from the L, OWL is Bushwick’s newest (and soon to be extremely popular) cocktail bar. With excellent drinks, great list of craft beers, knowledgeable bartenders, DJ sets and a wicked roof deck, I can’t think of a better place to host the #YelpHolidayCocktailParty.
The drinks: Thanks to Owney’s Rum, we got to enjoy some excellent Daiquiris and Maple Old Fashions. The rum was smooth yet bold, further elevating the classic drinks.
The bites: Benson & Ball, literally 2 dudes working out of a deep fryer and grill, provided some delicious cheeseburgers, fried falafel burgers and crispy, homemade fries. Sometimes simplicity goes a long way, and their no-​frills burgers absolutely knocked everything out of the park! For those of us with a sweet tooth, we were treated to barkTHINS’ dark chocolate almond packets that adorned the wall shelves/​tables.
The people: Ahh, my favorite part of Unilocal events are definitely the amazing people; from the photographer to the servers to our various hosts to the attendees. So thanks y’all, for making this such a memorable and successful event!

Our Wicked Lady is a great space — the décor gives good vibes (I love the neon sun burst!) and the bartenders are friendly and make great drinks.
The burgers were so. good. I will totally come back on a Saturday or Sunday when they are serving them up again.

Monday nights event was the last opportunity of 2015 to hang out with the BK elites and it was a great time. I appreciated the chance to catch up with some of my favorite Unilocalers.
This event scores high in two very important category’s. FOOD and DRINK. The bar staff was whipping up some delicious craft cocktails. I picked the old fashion and stuck to it. great drink, mixed well tasty and strong. everything a a craft cocktail would be. I had 3 or four of these but whos counting. In the Food department we had burgers and fries from Benson & Ball. The food was really good. The burgers were cooked PERFECTLY medium. They meat was full of flavor, they obviously carefully pick the cut of beef they use. The fries were great as well. They were slim, flat crinkly slices of fried potatoes. Not shaped like traditional fries but this form factor works well. They were fried nice and crisp and were salted just right. These fries were a highlight to me. The guys from Benson & Ball told me they would be opening their own store soon and ill be checking for that for sure.
I want to give a special thank you to our wicked lady for being our hosts and to B&B for the amazing eats. Shout out to my fellow elites, I hope to see all of you in 2016 (fingers crossed that the elite gods bless me with another year)

Another great event to close out Elite 2015!
Our Wicked Lady is a dim welcoming bar. What stood out to me the most was the cool light installation on the wall. It mesmerizes with radiant colors. The 3 bartenders were serving up some pretty strong drinks! Daiquiris and Old Fashions were on deck! I tried both and thought that they were both very tasty. It certainly didn’t take much to start feeling the drinks. There was no shortage of alcohol and the bartenders had the orders completely under control. And I if I might add Our Wicked Lady has the 3 cutest bartenders I’ve ever seen! Tall and handsome! LOL I think all of the ladies agreed that they were all very easy on the eyes. I would imagine that this is no accident. Very smart on managements part by the way!
One word to describe the food «fantastic!» There was a grill set up outside where a couple of guys from Benson & Ball were serving up some bites. Sounds weird I know a grill in December but this warm stormy night couldn’t have been any more perfect. The beef burgers were literally to die for. I’m literally wishing I had one right now while I am typing this. I don’t know what magic they put into grilling those burgers but wow. It could have been that delicious special sauce that they topped them with or maybe the sprinkles of seasoning but whatever it was it was good! I even tried the falafel burger as well which was really good. I wasn’t even sure if I liked falafel burgers but I definitely liked this one! They also added a side of fresh cut fries to the mix which made it all that much better. I don’t know exactly what the deal is with Benson & Ball but I will be looking into finding them again very soon.
Our Wicked Lady also has a really cute rooftop which I ran up to check out quickly amidst of the rain. There is another bar and picnic style tables up there which is pretty cool. I can only imagine that it would be very enjoyable during the warmer months. I, like most New Yorkers treasure those «rooftop months» *sighs*. This place is super cute and chill. I would love to come back here with some friends and enjoy a drink!

For the last Brooklyn YEE of the year, Peter D. made sure we went out with a bang at Our Wicked Lady. The space is so cool and pretty, but not in an overwhelming way, with great lighting accents, cool chairs and tables, and sweet exposed brick walls. I had the maple old-​fashioned, which was an intriguing take on the classic with rum standing in for whiskey and maple syrup for sweetness, and I’m not sure what provided that subtle smoky flavor but it was the perfect finishing touch. I wasn’t able to indulge in the eats this time (darned stomach sensitivity) but the burgers and fries all looked delicious, the burgers being cooked to the perfect level of doneness with a juicy pink center (yeah I was jealous).
My favorite part of the event though was the awesome vibe. It was such a FUN location with great music and visuals, and everybody was psyched to be hanging out together, with both old friends and new. Maybe it’s that there was an extra bit of enthusiasm because of the holiday season, or maybe the extra bit of effort it took for a lot of us to get here made us that much more excited to be there. Thanks to Peter D, Our Wicked Lady and all the other organizers for the great event, this is definitely an excellent spot in East Williamsburg that I might not have discovered otherwise!

«This is a bit of a destination place», said the owner/​bartender. True dat, but isn’t every YEE a destination?
First thing I noticed entering Our Wicked Lady: «Wow… this space is really nice!». Talking to the owner/​bartender I discovered that this is a bar with an art space attached to it, a place created by artists for other thirsty artists. The neon art installation at the center of the main room gives away the peculiar nature of this space, and I certainly look forward to coming back to check out some local artists while sipping a drink, probably in the spring when I’ll be able to fully enjoy the rooftop area as well.
Benson & Ball provided some great burger sliders that really packed a lot of flavor: perfectly pink on the inside, and with an absolutely delicious spicy sauce and some great fries. The barkTHINS almond snacking chocolate were really delicious, and the Owney’s Rum-​based apple old fashioned was as tasty as it was strong.
Most of all I liked how spacious the place felt, and that gave me the possibility to catch up with many friends. Best way to end my Monday/​start my week? A drink and some food while enjoying the company of many awesome friends. It’s good to be a Unilocaler.

Awesome event!
Met so many cool Unilocalers :) The burgers and drinks were excellent and plentiful. There were two options: The Daquiri, and Maple Old Fashioned. My favorite was the Daquiri and the bartenders made it to perfection each time I had one! They were also very attentive and noticed when it was time for me to get a re-​fill :) Much appreciated.
There weren’t as many people as I expected to be at the event but there were still a good amount of Elites there. Going here without a plus one allowed me the opportunity to meet and mingle with the many Unilocal Elites of the community.
The venue, Our Wicked Lady, is a tiny bar, but spacious enough to thoroughly enjoy yourself and enjoy good food and drinks. There are plenty of seats by the bar and tables and seats in the center of the venue. Located in the East Williamsburg/​Bushwick area, Our Wicked Lady is easy to get to on the Morgan Ave stop on the L. This Elite event definitely allowed me to get a feel for this place and I believe I will be back here to enjoy a good time with good food and drinks! Especially because I hear there is a rooftop area! :)

Not only was this event a great way to end the year, but it was also a great way to refrain from spending a rainy Monday evening drinking bottles of wine and ordering boxes of pizza while watching love stories… by your lonesome.
Arrived around 7:30pm and was smacked in the face by the smell of delicious burgers being grilled. To calm my stomach I headed to the bar to refresh myself… not with water. Two options this evening between the daiquiri and ummm something else I can’t remember. The daiquiri drink was delicious and after my fourth one I started to treat it as if it were simply lemonade. So now back to those burgers. I don’t usually eat beef so that may be why my tummy is still killing me but those burgers were GOOD. Like so good. I had about 3, well they were half sizes so really 1.5 GREAT now I don’t feel as guilty. I tried the falafel burger as well and that had an ummm… what they say??? an acquired taste lol. Those fries were nice and hot and perfectly seasoned.
Enjoyed my night here with the staff who delivered some great hospitality and the awesome Brooklyn Unilocal elites. Can’t wait to see what the New Year has in stored for us. Don’t forget to nominate yourselves. Thanks again Peter and the great hosts at the Wicked Lady for having us!

This was a very nice event. It wasn’t too packed at all, we all had seats if we wanted (with some to spare).
They had burgers and perfectly salted fries, and two drink options to choose from. I preferred the Daiquiri over the Maple Old Fashion.
The place is nice and cozy… they even have a small area for live performances. The restrooms are located in the back, with a common sink area (2 sinks) and private unisex stalls. They have a fully stocked bar with great bartenders. The entire staff was great, friendly, and engaging. They also have an area in the front, that they were using to prepare and serve the food.
It is located in a somewhat industrial area, so plenty of street parking at night.
Peter D. was there working the room as usual, always nice to see him and get my free high five :).
Overall, it was a great event… thank you Peter and everyone else that helped make this happen.

Now I know why OWL is popular: tons of space, nice interior design, good ambiance focusing on the people not the things, awesome friendly staff, thoughtful appointments, and a great mission. Too bad the rain knocked out the rumoured rooftop. The area is very quiet with a slightly scary feel though the venue makes the short 2 minutes’ walk from the L train Morgan Av station more than worth it.
Kudos to the staff for being so happy, helpful & willing to share. The drinks menu were Owney’s rum in a daiquiri or a maple old fashioned. I had only the daiquiri which was the perfect balance of sweet & tart. The bar was lively and so incredibly spacious, it’s an addicting kind of spaciousness that makes you want to return. There was an alcove with thoughtful seating & nice lighting.
In the front atrium was where I say the party was really happening, in the improv kitchen. The burger sliders were a hit with all. The smells were incentive to the perfectly cooked half sliders. I could sense the supplies were limited as they were to be bites & they enforced 1 only with each burger cut in half, but still the quality was awesome. I also had the big slice fries which were perfectly salted. A delicious ending to a great set of eats.
I missed the BarkThins, but am so happy to have experienced this great venue. Thanks, all!

I like that this event wasn’t too crowded! I was unable to mingle with a lot of people and have space to actually sit down. I really enjoyed the falafel burger!

The rain didn’t stop us from celebrating the holidays tonight in Bushwick!
Despite living so close I’ve never been to Our Wicked Lady, and it’s a seriously great bar. Really open space, not too loud, and some awesome lighting; I could definitely see myself coming back here during the weekend. The staff was also really friendly and on top of pouring our libations for the evening, a daiquiri and a maple old fashioned with Owney’s rum. I only tried the daiquiri (alas, it is a Monday), and really enjoyed the dual sweet and tart flavor.
Benson & Ball delivered with some great burger sliders, which were cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious with all of their traditional toppings. They did, however, pack a serious spicy kick to the mouth. Towards the end of the night, they also had falafel burgers and french fries, which I didn’t try. Guess I’ll have to find them at their next pop up!
With an awesome package of chocolate pretzel BarkThins, I definitely ended my night on a sweet note. Thank you so much Peter, Our Wicked Lady/​Benson & Ball, and everyone who made this party happen. It was a much needed reprieve from my typical Mondays, and a great way to end 2015 with the Elite community.
