Norman the Floorman At Carpet Mill

We purchased hardwood floors and had them installed by «Norman the Floorman» at Carpet Mill and we couldn’t be more happy.
We shopped everywhere thinking we would find a bargain at Lumber Liquidators, Home Depot, etc. What we learned is that we could spend less for shabby floors and pay a bunch for installation. We didn’t go to Norman the Floorman because we assumed the price would be higher since he’s not part of a nationwide chain. But we went there and were pleasantly surprised. We learned so much because Norman knows floors better than anyone we ever met.
I recommend you shop around and find out that you might think you’re getting a deal elsewhere, but Norman will give you the best floor and install for the best price.

RUDE
BEYOND POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE
I am currently researching flooring types and distributers for an upcoming home improvement project. I have narrowed down a vast array of choices to a specific brand name and style type (though I am unsure of the color). The floor brand is a specialty product that is not widely available.
I called to find out if this particular name brand floor type and style was available at the location. I wanted to see the floor samples in person before purchasing. I asked if showroom/​business was «open to the public» or only «B2B». (I asked this because some floor distributers I called earlier in the week, only deal with contractors. I am not a contractor, so I wanted to eliminate my concern about this which I explained to the phone representative). I was immediately asked directly if I was planning on purchasing the product at this store. I hesitated but answered by saying I had not made my final decision on the exact product (or distributer) because I wanted and needed to see the product it in person and not just from an online/​digital catalog.
I was then told point blank by the man I was speaking with, «I am not going to waste my time with you if you are not planning on purchasing it with me.»
When I attempted to get the conversation back on track, the man raised his voice and ranted about his past negative experiences with customers who looked but did not buy. I understand «show-​rooming» is a problem for retailers these days, but nothing I said or asked indicated that I was this type of customer. In fact I would like my project finished as quickly as possible. I tried to explain, to no avail, that my research is complete and I am looking for a place to pick a color/​design and then BUY the product.
Even if the product I inquired about had not been the right material for me, the store may have had another product I preferred. The store is certainly conveniently located, and if I liked the product in person, I see no reason why I would not have used this company to acqurie materials for my upcoming repairs.
This man’s bad behavior, acerbic attitude and condescending language left me shaking physically. He was a rude, inconsiderate, poor listener.
I will not purchase form this store — ever.

I am all too familiar with the «SHOWROOM» concept.
I expressed that to the RUDE man on the phone.
In the response, they/​he «apologized» about MY so called lack of understanding as opposed to apologizing for their/​his own behavior and lack of customer service?!? I think that attitude says it all. They lost a nice sale for sure. I needed to pick out color/​texture and PURCHASE. My own research had sold me on the material.
