I’ve been taking my car to Whitt’s since 2005, and have always been pleased with the service. His prices are competitive, and any time that I’ve taken it to a specialist for a second opinion (I drive a European car, and there are some repairs that Joe’s not able to do), his diagnosis has always been confirmed. He has also helped me prioritize repairs, to separate out the ones that should be done soon, the ones that can wait a little while without getting more expensive, the ones that can wait a long time, and the ones that aren’t really necessary unless they’re getting on my nerves. (My car was built in 1984. There are always things that could be fixed.)
I have had some experience with dishonest mechanics trying to trick me. I once had someone tell me that both fuel pumps needed replacing when I knew for a fact that the problem was a bad wiring connection. Joe has never tried to put one over on me, and Whitt’s will get my business as long as they stay open.

Dishonest service and bad attitude.
I went in for a state inspection. While my car was still parked outside, he said my car smelled like it ran poor. I should have left then. While he was checking me in, he was saying out his philosophy was to keep up with preventative maintenance. During the inspection, he said there were several problems with my vehicle. I am an automotive engineer, and know my way around a car. The claims he had were complete bogus, and didn’t even make sense. Fortunately, I was able to get out of there. Took the car to another shop a stone throw away. Passed the inspection without an issue.
