Specialties
Shutterbug’s Creations specializes in fun family photography with the professional touch of 10+ years of experience combined with a artist’s background. The result is stunning photography that captures personalities, expressions, and special moments, not just «cheese» smiles.
My goal is to create happy experiences both during the photo-session and with the quality of my photography. Favorite parks, familiar playgrounds, and family homes are preferred location for my photography to best capture true character and charm.
I maintain my playful-journalistic approach in my wedding and event photography and it shows in the joy that is revealed in my photographs. At weddings I can often be found joining the dance to photograph. I create photography from the perspective of the party, not just as a bystander. I enjoy what I do and the the result is images that are full of passion and life.
History
Established in 2003.
My love of photography started in high school. I learned to use a manual film camera, enlargers, and the magic of a darkroom to exposed hidden pictures on otherwise empty pages. The process gave me complete understanding the creation of an image and grew my love for photography.
In 2003 I earned an art degree with a focus on photography, I began working for a digital wedding photographer as a second shooter. It was my first exposure (if you will) to the world of digital. I could now change ISO mid-shoot and shoot 200 pictures without re-loading every 24⁄36 shots.
In 2004 I began photographing weddings, events, and portraits (pet & humans) as Shutterbug’s Creations.
In addition to many years of happy wedding clients, couples, and families, Shutterbug’s Creations has created photography for Burt’s Bees, Duke CE, Cisco, an the Durham Police Department.
Shutterbug’s Creations is based in Durham, and photographs throughout the Durham, Raleigh, Chapel Hill, and Carrboro areas of NC.

Business Owner
My passion for photography started with my first introductions to a SLR camera (an old Nikon FMI to be exact). While over time my camera preference has change (I now shoot with DSLR Cannons) my love for photography has never wavered.
I studied my craft while earning an art degree at Warren Wilson College. My studies helped develop my artistic-journalistic photography style. I enjoy creating and that passion comes through in my work to create photographs that are cherished.
Please check out my website and portfolio to see examples of my photography.
