J.E. Ladd & Son Transfer

I cannot say enough positive things about this moving company. They are phenomenal. My expectations were exceeded over and over again. They went above and beyond and seemed to truly care and understand how stressful it is to move. We called them needing help with a move the next day. Amazingly, they worked us in their schedule and got us moved out of our apartment the day before New Year’s Eve. We weren’t going to get ANYONE to help us move if they couldn’t help. They knew what they were doing, made carrying large heavy furniture and boxes look easy, did many extra small things «just because», and were exceptionally down to earth. These movers are hard workers that take pride in what they do and the long history of their family business. The are efficient, professional, friendly, fun, HONEST, and not out to milk you every dime you have. They made helpful suggestions, helped us put furniture together (and showed us how to take it apart), worked in the freezing cold, the rain, snow, and darkness. If we ever need anything moved again, there is no one else we’ll ever turn to again. They will be our movers as long as they are in business. We hired them TWICE. They gained our trust. This company is «old-​school». Honest days work, for an honest days pay. Your word and a handshake actually mean something. One of our moves took two days. They waited until the second day when all was completed to take payment. WOW. We HIGHLY recommend them. Forget about any of the big commercialized moving companies. Thank you, J.E. Ladd & Son. After having so many problems with my move, these guys were incredible!!! Even helped me set up furniture which I never expected. What took my 6 hours to load they had unloaded in 1 ½ hrs. They are amazing and were so polite! If I ever have to move again I will call them. Fair pricing and were able to accommodate my last minute needs.

This company moved our family from apex to chapel hill. They went above and beyond to accommodate us and made sure that we stayed within a reasonable budget. Our new home had refinished floors and freshly painted walls. The movers were very careful not to scratch walls or the floor. They even suggested to put blankets down to put boxes on to protect the floor. (I would have never thought to do that) I will definitely being using them again.

We moved and hired the Ladd crew again and they were, as always, awesome. Thanks to Rodney and the guys for a job well done!

I cannot speak highly enough about JE Ladd and Sons. These guys are amazing. I moved from Raleigh to Michigan and Rodney helped me figure out the best plan to save money. I ended up renting UPack containers and hired JE Ladd and Sons to load our containers. These guys didn’t stop for five hours straight. They packed the containers so well we were able to fit all our stuff in them. They took the time to put screws back in my son’s crib so when we put it back together we know exactly where each screw goes. When my son fell asleep on the couch while they were loading they were extremely quiet not to wake him. Bottom line, these guys are the best. They are professional and all around nice guys. I highly recommend them.

Rodney was awesome from start to finish. We had a client moving down from Philly area and he and one other guy hustled like crazy and even helped when the storage unit we were to move into was full with someone else’s stuff. They were fast polite and efficient. We highly recommend them for full service moves!

Can’t say anything more than what the other reviewers have already said. I called J.E. Ladd to unload my piano from the moving truck into my new home. Because of all the moving parts around moving out of state, I had to change the date/​time several times and Jay was always very accommodating. When he arrived with one other guy to do the work, he offered advise on where to place the piano and contact for a tuner whom Duke University uses. All-​in-​all, Jay was very professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. On top of that, the price was very reasonable. I’ll use them again when the need arises and recommend them to anyone whom I know needs moving services

Jay and the crew from Ladd are fantastic. They helped us move earlier this week and we couldn’t be more pleased with how everything turned out. They worked diligently and cheerfully despite the heat and treated our belongings as if they were their own. It was a hard move requiring several trucks and a pretty steep driveway at our destination but I never heard a single complaint out of any of the crew. The price was more than reasonable and the customer service was absolutely top notch throughout. If you are looking for help moving anywhere in the Raleigh/​Durham area give Jay and the Ladd family a call — you won’t regret it.

I can’t say enough positive things about the owner. He is probably one of the nicest, most professional men I have ever met. I was moving from an upstairs apartment to a downstairs apartment, we set up a visit and an estimate. My estimate had a maximum amount that they would not charge me over. I really like this because in the past I have worked with moving companies who charge by the hour and then they end up wasting time. My things were handled with great care, there was no rushing. Items were set up in my new place just how we asked. The owner was professional the entire time and stuck to his word about the estimate. I couldn’t be more pleased with this experience. I have already begun recommending J.E. Ladd to all the Duke students (and by the way, the offer a 10% Duke discount).

Absolutely top notch in every way. We’ve moved many times over the years and none have gone as smoothly as our moving experience with Ladd. Jay and his crew are skilled, careful, professional and very efficient. They went above and beyond every step of the way.
When the crew had moved everything into the new place, they took time to ask us if we wanted anything moved, like a couch or chair or boxes or whatever.
If you need help packing, they do that too. Everything was clearly labeled and the labels were detailed. So each box went into the right room during move in. Unpacking was a breeze.
If you’re planning a move and want to be sure your things are safe and secure and handled with care, you have to hire Ladd.

Just moved from NYC to NC. I called these guys mainly because I loved their website.
They were on time, friendly and efficient. They didn’t drag out the move to make extra money. My favorite thing about this experience was the confirmation calls. They would call and make sure it was before dinner so they wouldn’t be interrupting a meal. Yes, I’m serious.
Everything was handled with care and he even put my heavy 4 post bed together by himself in about 7 minutes. I’m still not sure how he accomplished that.
Did I mention that they fit me in last minute on a holiday weekend?
I won’t be moving anytime soon but I almost wish I were.

Professional, affordable and just the kindest men! I’ve moved many times over the years and JE Ladd & Son was by far the best moving service I’ve ever used. 3^rd story apartment was no problem for them. They were willing and able-​arrived on time, got straight to work and finished quickly. Would hire them again in a heartbeat!
