Welcome to the Yelp Site for the tasting room for Sutcliffe Vineyards-​the celebrated wine from South West Colorado. This is a great place taste and shop for local foods, gifts… gift baskets, and World Class Wine. During the the warmer months you can enjoy sipping wine on our store front patio in downtown beautiful Durango as well as small plates of charcuterie, cheeses, olives, and breads.

History

Established in 2011.

John Sutcliffe first planted the vineyard in 1995. With this years harvest we are hoping to produce just under 4000 cases. Joe Buckle, our genius of a winemaker, has currently given us 4, 2008 reds with upper 80’s ratings from «Wine Spectator».

This is not exactly what you would think of when you think of wine tasting. The person serving the wine seemed more interested in getting back on the phone than helping us. We only had three wines to choose from and barely got a splash of each. Disappointing!

Excellent, yet tiny, wine tasting room. The pedantic server was passionate about the bon vivant lifestyle, knowledgeable about every great restaurant or hotel within 300 miles (literally)
The wine is average, truthfully, but we’re not exactly in the south of France here. But the spirit of this place is great and it was a fun thirty minute escape from the more schlocky businesses n downtown Durango.
