History

Established in 1997.

Lemon Head Hair Salon was founded by the talented and wonderful Lenore Brieger in 1998, thus establishing the foundation of a downtown Durango icon.

Lemon Head changed hands in 2014 when it was purchased by Alayna Mathews and Ryan Engle. Through stylist training and education and the addition of world renown AVEDA color lines and products, Lemon Head has grown into the premier hair salon southwest Colorado.

Lemon Head provides superior hair services, hair products, body care and cosmetics in an warm, nuturing environment where our guests come first. Combined with the talent of the staff, Lemon Head is a must for anyone who wants to have an inviting salon experience.

Meet the Business Owner

Alayna M.

Business Owner

Alayna Mathews, a native of Fort Collins, Colorado and was trained as a hair stylist at Schilling Douglas Hair Academy in Newark, Delaware between 2004 and 2005. After returning to her beloved Colorado and moving to Durango, Colorado in 2006, Alayna noticed an opportunity for growth in the hair industry. Alayna targeted world renown and eco-​friendly AVEDA color lines and products as key elements for their salon, and in 2014 finally found the perfect opportunity and location for Alayna’s vision.
