Four States Tire & Service Inc

I’ve been here a few times and well taken care of each time. Chance is a manager and he has always been honest and helpful. The management here are actually caring and compassionate. They are honest and not into gouging you out of your last buck. The labor charges are very reasonable. They are always very busy so plan on leaving your car there or at least staying awhile. There is always Zia’s for lunch:)

I have had four states work on my vehicles for 8+ years and everything has been great. Customer service is fantastic. I have oil changes, tires and general maintenance done and I never worry about what is being done. They have saved me a lot of money with honest ways and directing me to the best value! I highly recommend!

Four States was the last place to change the oil on a vehicle I subsequently worked on. I’ve got the receipt. 1999 Honda CRV. I’m a strong dude and I had to use a cheater bar to remove the oil drain plug they’d so grossly over tightened it. Dudes, if it’s dripping, install a copper gasket instead of torquing it to well over 100-​foot pounds. Avoid this place at all costs.

I came in last month for last minute, emergency help. After a small accidents of sorts, my front driver side wheel and rim was completely bent and it was almost impossible to steer it because the tire kept going back and forth. I was on my way from Phoenix to Gunnison, CO, and Durango was the Friday night stop. Saturday morning, had just a few hours to get to Gunnison to get to a wedding. The staff was extremely helpful, though they were very busy. They acknowledged the time crunch, and though they did not have a rim in stock that would fix my problem, they rotated my tires and enabled me to make the wedding. They even gave directions of an easier, less mountainous route. I really appreciated the great customer service. While I was unable to get anything completely fixed until I returned to Phoenix during business hours, I made it safely to my destination and home, and I really thank this shop for that!

Now that our JEEP is paid off there isn’t a «need» for us to take it to the dealership for basic service, non-​OEM replacement parts, and of course tires. I have never been a fan of the JEEP dealership’s selection of shocks or tires, that’s where Four States comes in. We recently bought a set of Cooper AT, new Monroe shocks and struts, and of course an oil change. All are reasonably priced and executed with attention to detail. The only ding I can put on this place is waiting for service to be done, it can be long… but then I have been happy with the results every time.
I would select this place over Big O for tires and over the dealership for most everything else service oriented.

In the interests of fair play I am writing this follow-​up to my original negative review of Four States Tire & Service of Durango, CO.
Following our negative experience on June 5^th, we sought another tire dealer to handle our flat tire problem. As it turned out our flat tire was non-​repairable and I’d need to acquire 4 tires because the remaining three tires had enough wear that they would not match circumference with a new tire which would damage the all wheel drive on our new Subaru. However, this other dealer spent most of the morning calling a number of tire vendors only to discover that there was only one set of tires that would fit my vehicle in all of Durango and its surrounds and they were at Four States Tire & Service.
Thankfully, even though I was quite displeased with the manner in which we were treated the previous evening I had at the time left without saying or doing anything rude. I’m a firm believer that a detailed review on Unilocal will be of more benefit than ranting to the employees will.
We returned to Four States Tire & Service and our anti-​hero from the previous day, Joe, was manning the service desk. I told him that we were informed by the other dealer that they had a set of tires that would fit my vehicle and that I would like to have them installed on my car. While I am certain he recalled us from the previous day he was quite professional in taking my order and had us take a seat in the waiting area. In short order we noted that our car was taken into the service bay. The work was completed quite quickly and the technician had taken the time to replace our spare and the jack/​tools into their proper places in the back of the vehicle.
Joe presented us with our bill and it was a bit less than I had expected. Later after arriving at home I noted that the price we paid for our tires was equivalent to the best price we could find on the internet so they certainly were charging a fair price for the tires. I also appreciated that Joe was professional enough to handle our order without reference to the unpleasant experience we had with him the previous day.
The general manager of Four States Tire & Service has contacted me via Unilocal after becoming aware of my initial negative review. He assured me that my experience was not reflective of the expectations he has of his employees and that he had/​will address my complaints. Because he had taken the time to contact me regarding my initial review I thought it only fair to tell the rest of the story after they had provided good service to us allowing us to get back on the road.

Honest staff, fair prices, quality products.
I love my tires.
