Discovered Chan’s of Dundee last summer when visiting some wineries in the surrounding area. At first, my expectations were low because I just figured that a small town Chinese restaurant just wouldn’t be very good. Boy, was I wrong! Their menu is quite extensive, and they have a lunch special before 3pm every day in which you can choose an entrée from a list of about THIRTY different entrees. Plus, it includes soup, egg roll, fried rice, and lo mein, all for only $ 6.50. I chose chicken with green beans in black bean sauce for my entrée. It was excellent. The green beans were fresh and stir fried just right, with the right crispness. The chicken was white meat, and I love Chinese black bean sauce anyway. The portions were very large too. My friends were also impressed with what they had ordered. All of us were satisfied and full! Since then, when heading to Spirit Mountain Casino or Lincoln City, I’ve gone back to Chan’s a couple more times for that great lunch special.. .and it is always just as good. I wish they were located in Portland.

I love Chans. Great food, super friendly people. They have a large menu, that caters to the traditional American style Chinese food lovers, or people who like less fried food, or even the more adventurous. The lunch specials are very filling, it’s almost enough for 2. Bring a friend or 2! I have yet to be disappointed with anything. The lo mein is incredible, it’s a must try.

Well let me start by saying that Chan’s has been my favorite Chinese restaurant in the McMinnville-Dundee area until little boy(4 years old) found a FLY in his egg flower soup(REALLYGROSS)…I know this was probably an accident, but is a completely innaceptable one. So we were so grossed out that we told the waitress about it, cancel our order and got out right away, and I doubt we are going back.

This restaurant has good food but service is bad, our recent visit the waitress brought my husband’s dish, MADE a phone call and my order came about 10 minutes later by the cook to the table next to us(waitress still on phone). I had to get my own take out box and then had to stand at register and wait for her to get off phone to ring us up. There was only 2 tables being served in the whole establishment. –so we decide to do take out only if we want this type of food. The portions are huge and food is served hot and delicious but again bad service.

Chan’s restaurant is perched above the main drag in Dundee. In the past I have never had good luck with small town Chinese restaurants. So when Chan’s brought me hot and sour soup with soda crackers might heart began to sink. However, I was soon to discover that soda crackers are quite delicious in Chinese hot and sour soup. I also discovered that Chan’s is a restaurant with quite a lot to offer. The interior of Chan’s is clean, pretty, and comfortable. Green booths and green tables. The Chinese decorations are not done ad nauseum like in so many Chinese restaurants. The staff is all smiles and very attentive. Chan’s has a book like menu that is actually quite large. Among the offerings are Peking, Szehuan, Hunan, Mongolian, Shanghai, and Cantonese dishes. If you’re into American style Chinese food Chan’s has that too. The kitchen has deep frying down to a science. Chan’s can serve you deep fried food that is neither oily nor greasy. The fried shrimp and the won tons are superb. Chan’s prices are more than fair. Most of the entrees go for around $ 8.95. The most expensive items were about $ 10.95. The proportions are humongous. When it comes to Chinese food I am an absolute pig. Neither I nor my companion could finish our dishes at Chan’s. For those who say that there’s a shortage of restaurants in Dundee please let me introduce Chan’s. This restaurant can offer extended hours, delicious food, large quantities, and reasonable prices. A perfect way to cap off a day of wine tasting in Yamhill County.
