Baylor’s Soft Ice Cream

Not much to brag about. You can pay less and get similar soft serve elsewhere. I’m certainly not a fan of the flavor stripes. If bright colors and flavor on your soft serve is your deal, this is the place. You can get it plain as well. This is NOT real custard, its just good basic soft serve ice cream. Parking and site are very convenient though. Easy in and out. Pleasant outdoor atmosphere. Good summer evening distraction with young kids.

I am very picky with soft serve. Baskin robbins soft serve sucks compared to here. They offer very hipsterish athmosphere. I love the idea of it. I understand they have to be seasonal but If they were open in the winter I would so go. Prices are definetly fair. Their ices and shaved ices suck balls though. Shaved ices is just plain ice with flavor at the bottom. If i were them I would turn that into slushies or something.

Best place around for frozen desserts!!! I’m from a small town in Tennessee with a very similar joint, and this place reminds me of home. The staff is friendly, and I’ve never ordered anything that wasn’t great!

It was alright. My friend & I had never tried it and were in a mood to try something new. I got a Oreo sundae & I expected it would be crushed oreos but it ended up being oreo shavings. So the majority of what I was eating was vanilla ice cream. If I return, I’ll definitely get something different because it was pretty disappointing.

Sorry to say but this place went down hill… my husband got a cup of Vanilla Ice Cream with chocolate dip. they put literally like a teaspoon size of dip on there. that is so sad… wont go back… we now go nearby… across the street

Baylor’s Soft Ice Cream is a little ice cream spot in Dumfries. It has been around since ’13, replacing a previous soft serve place. The menu offers ice cream, Hawaiian shaved ice, java lattes, smoothies, floats, sundaes, shakes, and specials (such as banana splits and strawberry short cake). Don’t forget to ask for samples, as the friendly staff here are more than happy to let you try their available flavors! I tried the Tropical Orange ice cream, and it was pretty tasty! I got a kiddy cone, and it came with a generous amount of vanilla, twisted with this citrusy/​dreamsicle-​like orange syrup all infused within. The ice cream itself was really fresh and it was creamy! I would love to come back and try out their Cheesecake Shake, the Strawberry Short Cake, as well as their banana-​flavored ice cream. The place also accepts card, so that is extra convenient! Plenty of little tables outside to enjoy your cold treat, and there is a trash can that is shaped like a large ice cream cone: D

Baylor’s has come around. They are doing much better! The guys that work there are always really nice and polite and seem to enjoy working there. My only issue is they always are out of something. They have so many choices that I can always find something to choose, but there is always a flavor unavailable. Other than that, we love this place!!!

Great little spot in Dumfries. Took the whole family there for less than $ 15. Really enjoyed the hot fudge cake sundae.

Being pregnant right now I always make Freddie take me out for random cravings. It usually ends up with a trip down here and I get the same thing every time: Oreo caramel milkshake. It’s to die for!!!
They are usually crowded, but the line and wait never takes too long.

Love the ice cream here and the price isn’t bad. My husband and I usually get their flavored soft ice cream. We have tried their strawberry, butter pecan, and coffee and they’re ALL delicious! Definitely can’t wait until they open up for the summer again.
PS: If you want to bring your dogs and spoil them a little, they sell ice cream for dogs too

Love this place! They have a lots of different flavors, the butter pecan soft serve is the best I’ve ever had! Staff is always friendly. Great establishment.

Good ice cream at a fair price. They are a small joint and all seating is outside. There is always a line whenever we go there, but service is fast and friendly. They offer ice cream, shakes, even things for your furry friends. They also have a ton of toppings and flavor options. The portions are generous, and everyone seems to really enjoy their ice cream. The seating does fill up fast and isn’t always wiped down. We tend to eat in the car because it is cooler.
It is cheaper than the Baskin Robins next door and great quality. The hours have changed, but still open at convenient times for the family in the evening.

Went for the first time tonight and it wasn’t all that great. My s’mores sundae was fine but nothing out of this world. My girlfriends candy sundae was actually gritty, like eating cold sand, and when I told the guy behind the counter he said «that’s how it’s supposed to be.» My ice cream was normal and creamy and hers is like sand and yet somehow that’s «normal?» How about a sorry, let me pour you a new one? Obviously their soft serve mix wasn’t ready for them to serve. I’ll stick with Sweet Frog.

This place has always been great. I’ve been visiting for years now. I always seem to get the same thing, a coffee milkshake with peanut butter cups. Don’t knock it til ya try it! The service is always great, and normally moves pretty quickly. However, if they’re pretty crowded, sometimes the orders get a little rushed and come out a little sloppy. Everything is worth the wait though. Great for a hot summer day! Yummm

Excellent service and ice cream. I’ve frequented this place since it’s first season. Ignore the negative reviews! Every time I come to Virginia I make sure Baylor’s is on my itinerary and I am always greeted by friendly staff!

Very disappointed. We went to the shop on Sunday at 8:27pm. When we got in the line a staff member said we are closed. I said, you don’t close until 9pm. He stated look at the line and we are already out of some ice cream. I told him he doesn’t know what we were ordering so how can you just deny the customer without asking. Very disappointed.

Excellent food (Turtle Sundae) and good prices. Love the outdoor seating, and it’s directly across from a Harley dealership! Ridin’ and some great soft-​serve on a warm day is terrific!

This is now my go to soft serve place. I can’t speak to what it was before the new management took over but they’re super fast, friendly, & cheap. You get a lot of bang for you buck as well so many options.
