Duluth International Auto Service

I’ve been going here about 4 – 5 years. I started off a review from Angies List. We have four cars & all of them go to Duluth Auto. The main reason is that Billy always gives us the straight scoop and tells us what REALLY needs to get done. At my prior mechanic, every trip created a list of 5 – 6 things that I «Needed» to get done. When I took the list to Billy at my first visit he told me that only one of those things really needed to get done. As of this day, I STILL have not done any of the other things on that original list. They just didn’t need to be done. Too many auto repair shops have nice smiles as they soak you for as big of a ticket as they possibly can. This morning I was considering taking my car for a simple repair to a closer place (Duluth International is a 15 mile hike for me) but, as usual, the guy I spoke to at the closer place knew nothing and started spewing numbers and add ons that are probably unnecessary. That guy even quoted for labor which should be unnecessary given the work that was already being done. So, I picked up the phone & called Billy. I got a lower quote and I know he won’t do anything unnecessary. Why hassle with all the repair shop idiots that are out there that are either unethical or incompetent?

A neighbor recommended these guys a couple of years ago and they are my go to shop for all repairs. They are very good at telling you what you really need to do and what you can avoid unless you start having further problems. I put a lot of miles on cars so I’ve had the routine maintenance issues as well as more severe problems associated with high mileage… i.e. on SUV has over 190k miles and another over 140k. The owner used to be there every day but maybe a year ago he hired Dara to handle this location. The service is still just as good so there just seems to be a level of honesty instilled throughout this operation.
