Alex Automotive

I recently used Alex Automotive for a repair to my Audi A3. Every repair shop without exception wanted to replace the engine which ranged from $ 3500 to $ 7000. I wanted to keep the car because I really liked it, but everyone talked the talk about being experts repairing Audi’s but the fact was they wanted to replace the engine which really required very little skill. The skill required was to repair it and that is what Alex and his team did and they did a fantastic job repairing the engine from a broken rear timing belt at basically the cost of a used engine with over 100k on it not including the labor to install it. I was and I am very pleased with the service and they warranted the engine for 12mths or 12k miles… now that’s a true professional! Use these guys they are a true breed of mechanics that really do provide a great atmosphere and top quality service at a good price.

Alex, Renee, and the rest of the staff are awesome. Very professional, super helpful, and most of all, honest. My dealership usually has a laundry list of items I need repaired and I go to Alex to see what’s really needed. He’s usually more affordable and I prefer to pay the small business owner over a larger corporation. Definitely visit if you need work on your car!

I called asking for a price to have a repair done. In talking with the him on the phone, I told him exactly what I needed done and wanted a price since I was price shopping.
He placed me on hold and told me to call 770−622−2227… which is Pep Boys! I thought that was so unprofessional to refer me to them since they would be the cheapest. Mind you I have a luxury import. I wouldn’t recommend this pace to anyone on the simple fact he was being a jerk.

I called Alex automotive and the man who took my call was extremely rude, when I told them about my car situation he demanded to know why I was really calling! Then accused me of being a sales call and made me PROVE that I wasn’t a sales person! Are you kidding me?!? When I asked to talk to the owner he wouldn’t transfer me. This was the most ridiculous situation.
They need to fire whoever the heck is answering their phones.

Don’t be fool with round about answers. Shops use standard «bulk oils» like 5W40 which is cheap. They do not protect against sludge etc. The common response of Mercedes use this really depend on your vehicle. If you have a high end car with high end performance engine it calls for 0W40 for a reason. If I continue to use oils not to spec it will eventually have an effect on my engine and performance. I raised the concern of the weight used and was told 5W40 was what Mercedes uses. They may use this oil but my model is a high performance one AMG which requires 0W40. I don’t know if they are up to par on their vehicles or see me as a sucker. Also supposedly I have a «small leak» in my radiator. However upon further review of the «price estimate» it reads plastic tank, which would be the reserve tank not the actual radiator. Unless you know about cars and parts one would have been fooled that they have a radiator leak and that it needed work on. I am not stating that the reserve tank is not a big issue if it was leaking however it should have been explained a little better then that the radiator is leaking. It is ALWAYS good practice to have the mechanic show you right there on the spot the part in question to ensure you know what is actually broken or needs replacing. I am also concern that OEM specified parts were used.

I’ve bought my last four cars from Alex Automotive, and became an Alex customer for life a number of years ago when my two seater Mercedes started making bizarre noises… pulled into their service department, asked them to fix whatever the problem and mentally prepared to max out my credit card.
Twenty minutes later, Brian, their Service Manager brought my car back around front (washed and vacuumed) and handed me the keys… I asked how much and his response was «nothing — no charge, everything’s fine.» No labor charge, nothing.
Truth be told, not knowing what goes on under the hood, I was an easy mark had he sought to take advantage… in retrospect, I wonder whether I would have been dealt with so honestly elsewhere…
As a result, I’m now in my fourth car from Alex and no one other than an Alex service rep has so much as ever popped the hood on any of my cars.

My family has taken our cars here for years, and the staff know us by name! The customer service is superb, and everyone is friendly and helpful. We bring in our cars for checkups, oil changes, tire replacements, and everything you can think of!!! We have never had any problems with the services done there, or at least not yet. *knock on wood*
They used to do car washes every time a service is done, but I think they only do it on Saturdays now.
Their services done there are wonderful, except the prices are a little high compared to other places.
