Canal Park Lodge

The staff at the CPL are great. We were caught in Winter Storm Goliath on our way to a family reunion at the hotel. They waited until the last minute to let us try to make it, and then allowed us to cancel at the last minute. We stayed in the 3^rd floor suite with a lake side balcony. Great view! The hotel is perfectly located, walking distance to great food and shopping. We’ve been going to the hotel at this time of year for almost 10 years. Its a great tradition!

The staff at CPL has gone over and above in their service to us. Shortly after check in our youngest child became ill and they were very kind in helping us address the situation. Additionally, part of our large group were delayed in a snowstorm and they allowed them to cancel in short notice with no cost. The breakfast is great, everyone is nice, and the location is awesome. Definitely recommended.

I’ll be back! Becky totally helped me through a misunderstanding. She really knows what customer service is about. Beautiful, accommodating and it was cozy. After a late night of driving, the guys checked my boyfriend and I in with a smile and gratitude. Thanks!

As a bus driver I stay at a lot of hotels. This one was great!!! Beds were nice and clean. The view from my room was amazing! Breakfast was not your normal hotel breakfast! Very tasty! My only complaint is my shower didn’t have any hot water.

We had a 3^rd floor room with a balcony, nice view. Room did have a mild «locker room» smell when we arrived, we opened the balcony door and aired out the room. So really not bad.
Employees were really nice.
Cash bar a little on the high price.
Large room with very comfortable bed. Very clean and quite.
Friday morning we woke up to loud nice of the grounds crew cutting the grass.
Breakfast was good and nice selection of hot and cold foods.

We celebrated our anniversary here and we were immediately upgraded to a suite ! Such great customer service from Becky !!

During a recent trip back up north, or as the BF says, North of the Wall, I wanted to make sure that we took in the sights of Duluth. And with limited time in the city, I wanted to be centrally located near Canal Park.
Enter: Canal Park Lodge!
After reading the glowing Unilocal reviews and checking out their website, I made my reservation. A bit expensive for my normal budget, but for vacation, I wanted to splurge.
Canal Park Lodge did not disappoint! Super easy to get to, right along the beachfront walk, and steps away from breweries, restaurants, and plenty of shops. The room was fabulous and comfortable! And the breakfast buffet was tasty and a great time-​saver.
The only hiccough I experienced with Canal Park Lodge was the confirmation of my reservation. After a couple of weeks, i still hadn’t received a confirmation email or notification of any kind, so I called the reception desk and had them send me one. I found this a bit odd, but whatevs. That’s something they can fix, surely?
If you find yourself in the Duluth area, be sure to stay at the Canal Park Lodge! I certainly will.

What a great experience! The view from our balcony was gorgeous, location is unbeatable, and the breakfast included scrambled eggs and waffles! The romantic package of champagne, truffles, and roses was high quality, the roses lasted for a week after I took them home :) A really memory making trip.

Beautiful lobby, rooms were so clean and very nice. Breakfast was wonderful. We were upgraded to a lakeside room with no extra change, friendly people working there. Price was great & the view amazing!

When I read the previous reviews, I think either these people don’t travel often OR they work for the hotel. While the location cannot be beat, the hotel itself is mediocre. I recently stayed 7 nights in a lakefront king room and the highlight was the view. This is a glorified motel. The service has been virtually non-​existent. When I asked for a different type of pillow, there were none available. When I asked housekeeping to clean the outside of the toilet after 3 days of them not doing it, they apologized. When I returned to the room, it was only partially clean. The breakfast, while plentiful, is grey sausage and gloppy undercooked hash browns. If your expectations are higher than a Holiday Inn, then I would look elsewhere. If you find that place in Duluth-​let me know where it is!

Beautiful hotel in a great location. We had a lakeview king room and the view was amazing! Saw lots of ships coming into the canal right from our room. Very clean, comfy bed, and spacious room and bathroom. Cash bar with the free wings was a nice touch. Nice big lounge. Friendly and helpful staff dedicated to making sure Their guests enjoy Duluth! Liked that we could walk
To shops and restaurants rather than drive/​park.

I was a little disappointed staying here. The room was pretty nice, but had a strong perfumey smell. When we sat on the bed it sound like wood breaking. The room was dusty and was obvious housekeeping didn’t pay a lot of attention to detail. There were pubic hairs in the drawers, so we kept our clothes in our bags. It was probably the loudest hotel I’ve ever stayed in. You can hear everything going on in the halls. Made for not a great nights sleep. The complimentary breakfast is quite average, with a lot of average food to choose from. The view is outstanding and it is close to everything, but will never stay here again. The staff was very helpful and nice.

Room was large and comfy. Staff very helpful and it’s location is great. Thought the rates were appropriate for the accommodations. Will go back for sure.

i have booked at each of the lakefront properties in Canal Park and this one is by far the nicest, although usually not the least expensive.
The property is new, clean, and extremely well maintained. I have stayed there myself with friends, booked for others, and had a couple of meetings there. The service is top notch.
Canal Park is adjacent so bars and restaurants are walkable, most are still open during the winter. The hotel does this little make-​believe bar thing in the lobby every night so you can get a glass of wine or a mixed drink. The included breakfast is killer, and goes a long way toward justifying the higher price.
The second floor lakefront balcony rooms are great for relaxing with a drink in the evening, and for a spectacular sunrise view in the mornings (for when you get in a little late). They have a first floor one bedroom suite that’s like a little beachfront condo, highly recommended.
The best leisure property in Duluth.

This is a fabulous lakefront property. Stayed here for two weeks during a business trip to Duluth and was impressed with the customer service and fiendly attidude of the staff.
They also have a wonderful breakfast included every day (free) that includes belgian waffles, eggs, saugage, toast, Caibou Coffee, tea, and an assortment of pastries and yogurt and other yummy breakfast options. They also set up a no-​host cocktail bar in the lobby every evening with free hors d’oeures that are delish!
Last but certainly not least, the manager Becky is SO phenomenal! She was so welcoming, friendly and accommodating, really helped make the stay wonderful!

Located right in Canal Park, you can easily walk to most anything from here. The location is great, our room was clean, updated and had a good view. The bed felt comfortable when I laid down but I did wake up a bit sore (could have been a fluke). They have a nice pool with adult hours from 11 — midnight which I appreciate. They also do happy hour in their lobby in the evening and a huge continental breakfast in the mourning.

Every hotel in Duluth in the summer is expensive, and this one is no different (though the prices are competitive with other hotels nearby). I absolutely hate paying a lot for a hotel, only to end up being disappointed with the quality or location. That’s why my family and I have stayed at this hotel the last 2 trips to Duluth. This hotel delivers on everything we expect for the price.
The room we had was very nice. When we arrived, the clerk gave us a choice of available rooms that met our reservation criteria, and even took the time to explain the differences between the rooms. The hotel is in the Canal Park area, well within walking distance of the attractions and restaurants. The breakfast was very nice, and there is an evening reception as well.
The hotel was full on the nights we have stayed there, yet the rooms were very quiet and we had a peaceful night’s sleep.

Great location. Definitely one of the best hotels around. We stayed here on the way to Voyageurs National Park and it was the perfect place to stop. Very clean and comfortable. About the same price as a Comfort Suites with a friendly staff and a great comp’ed breakfast. We walked to dinner on a great boardwalk along the lake. I suppose this is their version of Navy Pier in Chicago. Lots of restaurant choices and things to do. Our only complaint, and I suppose it’s just a general complaint from any dog owner is that we wish they were pet friendly. Even just a few rooms. Sunny had to sleep in the car.
