Dold’s Workshop

I am a General contractor, I hired Dold’s workshop to refinish kitchen cabinets for a client. Wow, I am totally impressed with the work they did, kitchen looks great and my client loves it. I found Dold’s through direct referrals from several other contractors in the area and I am definitely going to be using their service again. It’s getting really difficult to find a reputable finishing service that I trust to work with my clients, Dold’s is great in that regard.

I am very pleased to be able to refer one and all to this marvelous furniture refinisher, Barry and his father Mike’s workshop in Dublin, California. They are authentic and honest and do a superb job. I wish I had known they were there long before now BUT? Not too late and I took a very broken, very vintage chair to be repair where the wood had done one helluva split job. Wasn’t sure it could be fixed. Was utterly grateful that it could be, as I inherited it from my parents and treasured it. Barry did a superb job and he is, a straight shooter with no pretense and tells it «like it is» and I appreciate his forthrightness and HONESTY… Rare qualities these days. This is folks, almost a ‘dying art” if you think about it. We should locally as a community? Be most grateful THEY ARE WITH US!!! No question I would take another piece to them in a «heartbeat». I hired Dolds to refinish my 1980s handmade custom birch kitchen cabinets. I can’t say enough about the quality of workmanship and professionalism exhibited by this company. They transformed dull, scratched and stained cabinets into high quality pieces of furniture. Linda mixes custom colors and she perfectly blended the stain to match my dining room furniture. This is a family business that truly cares about the quality of their work and reputation. The owners, Mike, Barry and Linda did all of the work themselves. They were always professional, on time and did exactly as they promised. I can’t be happier with Dold’s. I highly recommend this company.

I spoke to Dold’s in April and requested an estimate for cabinet refinishing They agree to come the next day at 8:30am. The day of the appointment they never showed. I did notreceive a call, so called them at 10“30am. They said they thought it was the following day. They agreed to come later that day and do the estimate. After reviewing the job we were told that they would email the estimate. We waited a week and never heard back. I called and asked for the estimate and was told it would go out shortly. After another week and no estimate, we gave up.

Dold’s is incredible. They just refinished our kitchen cabinets and installed new cabinet doors. They did an excellent job! Very easy to work with, personable, professional, and high quality. They strive for perfection in their work. They noticed my tile contractor scratched a new cabinet door so they took it back to their workshop and refinished it at no charge. They opened their shop on a Saturday to let us select the right stain color for our cabinets and learn more about their process. Price was very competitive and no surprises, kept us well informed. Went out of their way to help us locate new sliders for our drawers. They also recommended a granite/​quartz contractor which we wound up using which was equally superb.

We had Dold’s come out to re-​finish and re-​stain our kitchen cabinets about 2 years ago. They did an extremely professional job in every respect. I would say that our 18 year old cabinet and drawer surfaces looked absolutely brand new when they finished. We just had them back out to do the same for the cabinets and medicine chests of our two downstairs bathrooms to match the kitchen. They again did an extremely professional job, and cleaned up any sign of a mess before they left. They are really nice people, offer their professional services at a very fair price, and we would highly recommend them to anyone looking to renew their older wood cabinets. By the way, this is NOT re-​facing. The original wood is sanded and stripped of old lacquer, and new lacquer is done in multiple layers for long-​term durability. There aren’t many companies out there doing this labor intensive, high quality service.

We found Dold’s Workshop on Unilocal a couple of months ago. We were looking for a furniture refinisher to bring our 50+ year old kitchen table set back to life!
I agree with the other reviewers: they were nice, professional, timely and worth every bit of the total price for their hard work and dedication. I even had control over the color of stain. My kitchen set looks absolutely beautiful and I would not hesitate to refer others. Linda is wonderful and it shows that she’s been doing this work there for 16 years.

We can’t say enough wonderful things about Dold’s Workshop. From the estimate to the finished product (refinished and upgraded cabinets in our home), each employee we encountered did his/​her best to exceed our expectations. Responsive and courteous, they were proactive in keeping us in the know of their procedures and due dates. We worked mostly with Linda and she was GREAT — she worked around our schedules and always met her commitments. The finished product added value and beauty to our home in a way we thought not possible. Happily and without hesitation, we recommend Dold’s. Mike, Linda and Barry, you’re the BEST!!!

Dolds did a great job matching the stain of a piece of furniture with a built in cabinet I had them reface. Looks like they were bought together. Incredible job, great price and the nicest people you’d ever want to work with.

Great people to work with. Will take the time to explain their services, and do quality work. If you have good furniture, it is worth the money to have the piece restored.
