Camp Lucy

Gorgeous venue! Rustic luxury. My wedding was in December 2015 at Ian’s Chapel, and we stayed in the cottages for the weekend. Everything was flawless. We made welcome baskets for our guests from out of town, and the gentleman who worked at the cottages was kind enough to place the baskets in each room before everyone arrived. S’mores and music at the fire pit was a great way to relax the night before the wedding.
Our wedding planner, Kristen White, was amazing. Chef Rob from Whim Catering is also amazing. The breakfast in the morning was perfect, as was the dinner at the wedding! We received so many compliments on the food, the venue, and the entire experience! After our wedding, when my husband and I got back to our room at the cottages, the room was clean and welcoming — there were rose petals everywhere, a plate of cookies, and a bottle of wine waiting for us. What an incredible experience!

The good is that this venue is really pretty and gorgeous for a wedding. Be very aware though that it is very pricey and the price does not stop with the very high booking fee. You have to use their florist, their caterers and their rentals. It all adds up to a very expensive venue. They say the chapel can hold 200 people but make sure you really investigate that — I just don’t think it is possible. It is all business here — no warm and fuzzy wedding feelings from the staff like some other places I visited. Also be sure to read the contract very carefully before you sign it. They have cottages out there which are nice but expensive and there is absolutely nothing to do out there and it is really far from everything. No pool, hot tub or anything. At the end of the day, your wedding is the most important and expensive day you will probably ever have and there are better places in the hill country to have it than here.

Locale for my cousin’s wedding (Atwood-​McGraw Wedding) at the Sacred Oaks area. It was absolutely amazing! It was a beautiful outdoor wedding among a small amphitheater area surrounded by all these live oak trees. The dinner & reception were inside the Sacred Oaks Chapel. Some of the wedding party & family were able to stay at the cabins at Camp Lucy. I rode up there with my immediate family, who left for home immediately after the reception, but we stayed for the previous night at a hotel about 30 minutes away. We put our stuff in the cabin where my grandmother was staying, which is where we mostly hung out & got ready for the wedding from 12−6pm. The rooms were so nice!
We also had some lunch at the office/​lobby (a sandwich party tray provided by the wedding party), where I bought a jar of pecan honey butter & chile lime «AustiNuts», as well as a complimentary copy of the «Insight Dripping Springs 2015» magazine. (Where they do accept cards as payment!)
I took a walk around the chapel grounds & cabins, & was able to see a beautiful view of the river & dam, while meeting up with some other cousins who went fishing during the afternoon. It would’ve been nice to stay overnight & enjoy the communal fire-​pit in the cabin area.
The food was amazing! One of the reception refreshments was half of an avocado filled with pico, feta cheese, & spinach dip (for those who enjoy vegetarian-​friendly cuisine, & they also had some with bacon bits for the meat-​lovers). The buffet was amazing, & they had this awesome mac & cheese dish with some green chile & pepper in it – awesomely hot & spicy!
Camp Lucy was such a beautiful place, & the staff was so friendly & helpful. I wish I was staying longer! I’ll just have to find an excuse to come back. I even tried to talk some other (already married) family members into using this place for renewing their vows or something.

Gorgeous place! My cousins wedding was held here and it was fantastic! The grounds are lovely, the chapel was romantic and the caterer was 5 star! Yum!

Our daughter just had her wedding at Sacred Oaks! Beautiful venue !! Kudos to the chef for a wonderful delicious dinner! The staff was professional and excellent. Communication with accounting was bit fuzzy at times. Seriously consider having a night wedding here. The lighting in the oak trees is breathtaking!

This venue for a wedding is great. It’s a stunning property, extremely well maintained. The French colonial chapel is the perfect place for a ceremony. So romantic and charming. For the reception, the Exec Chef, Rob McMahon, pulled off some of the best wedding fare I’ve ever had. Truly, the food is 5 stars, plus plus; could not have been more impressive or perfect. We opted to use the on site florist, and had Rachel, and she did a truly amazing job. People commented throughout the night on the flowers, and we did them very economically. The cabins were just gorgeous; super comfy and beautifully decorated and situated on the property. The reason for only 4 stars is the way the property nickles and dimes everything. Be careful when you decide on the wedding venue to read carefully about all of the things you are responsible for: they add up quickly. I think when you have your first meeting with them they should be more up front about all of the extra expenses, instead of relying on you to read a long contract. And don’t count too much on the catering coordinator, Rene, to be too helpful day of — she makes that clear. They really want you to hire a day-​of coordinator, and they’re super pricey. Tara, however, who oversaw our contract, was super sweet, helpful, and professional, and bent over backwards throughout this affair to be sure we were happy. All in all, we loved our experience at Camp Lucy and look forward to going back just to spend a few quiet nights in the lovely cabins on the property.

The rooms and property were very beautiful! The front desk couldn’t have been more helpful and attentive. We had to get ready for the wedding in the bride and grooms cottage to save time before getting into the bridal suite closer to the venue. 13 girls in one room… it got messy to say the least. The cleaning staff had finished up early before we were done so one of the girls at the front desk was sweet enough to tidy up the cottage for the big night once we were finished. Can’t say enough nice things about this place and the people who help make it great! Thank y’all!

Camp Lucy is off the beaten path In a gorgeous part of Texas Hill Country, but it’s only a couple of miles off the main 290 thoroughfare. Despite what some other reviewers experienced, we didn’t have any trouble locating Lucy with the handy directions from their website and the reservation email. The cottages are spacious, comfortable, and beautifully designed to capture that «luxe rustic» look. Customer service was warm, welcoming, and stellar. The continental breakfast had a tasty selection of fruit, pastries, bagels, yogurt, and make-​your-​own Belgian waffles, along with juices and Keurig coffee for you fellow caffeine fiends («caffiends»?).
The surrounding grounds are serene and beautiful, and no doubt it’s a glorious wedding/​event location. Travelers who are dropping in for a visit should keep in mind that there may be plenty of high-​spirited wedding revelers in the other cottages, so you may be in for more noise than you might expect from other boutique hotels that don’t host similar events. I had to remove 1 star for the thin walls (or noisier neighbors), the slow Wifi, and the lack of HBO. (Hey, some of us lame-​os have to rely on hotels for our Boardwalk Empire /​Game of Thrones fix.) also, the shower window doesn’t have a curtain. For shorter people, that may not be an issue, but we tall folks don’t necessarily want cottage neighbors looking off their porches or out their windows and suddenly spotting our wibbly wobbly bits.

I am finally getting around to reviewing vendors, etc. that we engaged for our wedding. Normally, I do not write reviews but, I wanted to share our experiences with other couples in the midst of wedding planning in the hopes of being some help.
Our experience with Camp Lucy was pretty great. We absolutely adore the venue and thought it was beautiful! Our guests loved it. My only complaint is that, when we booked the venue, Camp Lucy did not have an in house catering team, which I believe they do now. At the time, they had a list of approved vendors that you had to use for catering. While I know this is standard for the industry, none of the vendors on the list could accommodate the dietary requirements of our family and friends. Still, we were required to pay a hefty outside catering fee and a kitchen use fee. In addition, the night before the wedding, while I was about to head to one of my events, I received a call stating that we were not allowed to use the kitchen, though we had already paid a fee to do so. I referred Camp Lucy back to the relevant clause in our contract and the matter was quickly resolved but I definitely think that they should have raised the issue long before the wedding and, referred back to our contract, if they had any additional questions on the night before. That said, Diane was our main point of contact leading up to the wedding and she was very pleasant and polite, and we enjoyed working with her. I think our wedding happened before the cottages were completed but we saw the few that they had finished and were in use and thought they were beautiful. In addition, the staff was pretty great, overall, and I would definitely recommend the venue!

The venue is beautiful, however they nickel and dime you. They own Whim Catering so they make you go through them and they say that the venue can accommodate a certain size party but they only provide you 100 chairs even though they have enough to provide you with more. It’s ridiculous. Don’t get married there unless you want to spend 10,000+ just to rent the place.

We’ve never been to Camp Lucy for a private event, but we’ve been to their supper club and it’s great! The Sacred Oaks grounds is breathtakingly beautiful and makes for a lovely stroll before dinner. The service, food and drinks from start to finish is excellent! Seating was open with communal tables which we loved. We got to have great conversations with new people and it just made everything feel more intimate.

Simply stunning venue for a wedding, business party, or family reunion. I will be recommending Camp Lucy to my destination wedding brides/​grooms and will be setting up a private tour in the very near future.

The setting is absolutely beautiful; the staff was courteous and very sweet. I loved every minute of it.
While this makes a fantastic wedding venue, we used it for a business conference and it went splendidly. They have ample room, comfortable seating, great food, and the setting is perfect.
It is a bit hard to find — could use some better signage; but they are new, it will come.

My cousin recently got hitched at Camp Lucy and I praise the owners for everything they have done at this property. From the beautiful, vintage chapel with awesome bell tower, to the outdoor plaza with breathtaking hill country views, to the reception hall with a magnificent fire place and awesome, grand hall chandelier-​like lighting.
The cute cottage where the bride got dressed up was, well, CUTE!
The landscaping was great!
They even allowed sparklers on the send-​off, which I know other nearby venues do not.

A perfect place to have a wedding. I was lucky to be invited to a wedding here at Camp Lucy. Although off the beaten path, you will want this as your wedding location. They have a chapel, large reception area, and a large dining area to serve people. All of this and more is on a huge plot of land with great views.

I had my wedding here recently and had a great experience. Robin was very helpful throughout the process and on the actual wedding day. I dinged it bc they don’t water their grass and it looks very dry and brown. I really expected them to maintain their grass at a minimum especially considering they are a wedding venue and the appearance is everything. Otherwise no complaints. Beautiful place and the architecture and the stories behind them are amazing. Be sure to read the fine print bc they have a lot of add on fees that I thought were questionable.

While the journey may be bumpy the destination is smooth, sophisticated. It could have been the hang over or the gravel backwoods roads leading to Camp Lucy but when we arrived I just needed a bathroom. That is the only reason I give this palce 4 stars instead of 5. It took me about 10 minutes to find a bathroom that wasn’t in the bride or grooms houses. Other than well hidden bathrooms this place is one fo the most spiritual union ceremony venues I’ve ever been! I was lucky enough to actually officiate the wedding for my friends, the AV people were great, got me set up with a mic that worked great. The venue coordinator, Kim, was helpful and always coming by to see that our needs were met. One question that remained unanswered was regarding crystals that stick out of an arched pagoda in the corner of the grounds. The crystals stick out from the rest of the arch in a downward turn toward a specific point on the ground and I know there has to be some symbolic meaning to that point but no one had an explanation. The architecture is inspiring and left me full of wonder. Check out the history on the space– VERY COOL! It was a church in Vietman, owned by the French, then purchased by a Texan and shipped to Austin. The hand carved wood is worth the trip out to Dripping Springs. Hope you find as many beautiful memory making moments as I did!

As a wedding guest here, it is easy to say that this place is gorgeous and well taken care of. It probably would have been a contender for me when I was getting married if I had seen it. The venue is very well landscaped, has interesting buildings, and the perfect venue for a ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. You’d just have to see it.
BUT— don’t let your iPhone find directions for you, they will put you somewhere way past the venue and say that you are there!
